  1. WTF??? http://store.nba.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=2804337&cp=2834601.2836124.2710386.2482948.2806548 http://store.nba.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4055669&cp=1421535 Computer programmer making a joke or the Bulls letting the cat out of the bag early?
  2. You're complaining about somebody starting your game thread? Almost all of them are up the night before the game. Just giving Fred crap. I don't give 2 shits to be honest.
  3. Jake, how do Pirate fans feel about embarassing the Cubs just about every game this year?
  4. Does that 55.2 figure include all the injury exemptions that the Hawks were supposedly going to capatalize on that was going to save us? I don't think the Hawks had to trade Versteeg. I think Kris made that decision for them when he had that awful rap during the parade.
  5. Not fair, other posters have posted their game thread 30 minutes before the game starts, and I get usurped several hours before?
  6. Bucher is a moron. This morning on ESPN 1000, he said he would consider the Bulls offseason a success if they sign Joe Johnson and nobody else. I thought that quote was attributed to KC Johnson. That is moronic either way. Trade Salmons, Tyrus and Hinrich, renounce Miller, Murray, Warrick and Law, sign Johnson. Yay?
  7. It will be nice to not have Versteeg holding onto the puck way too long and turning it over next year. That said he did have one of my favorite goals of the playoffs in Game 2 against Vancouver.
  8. Cubs have now gone winless in their last 11 series. They are now at a 69 win pace this year. The 2006 squad won 66 games. If you think about it Lou's managerial stint with the Cubs has mirrored Dustys. Both made surprise playoff appearances their first season after losing 95+ the year before. Both actually had their best teams their second season and finishes with better records. Of course Lous was much better and made the playoffs. The next year the team played around .500 ball and the bottom fell out the next year.
  9. Another fun stat. Against the other 29 MLB teams, the Pirates have been outscored 204-400. Against the Cubs, the Pirates have outscored the Cubs 46-31. By using pythag formula, the Pirates are playing at a 37-125 pace against the other 29 teams, and a 109-53 pace against the Cubs. Gah.
  10. I will now only refer to the Cubs as "the punchless Cubs" until further notice.
  11. I think it's actually a scale ranking the goalies by how much the Blackhawks own them. The higher the tier the more we own them.
  12. Who would actually enjoy it a little on the inside if the cubs blew it in the 9th here?
  13. I'm trying to think of opportunities to go over the luxury tax in the past where the Bulls let someone go or refused to play someone to avoid it. The only scenarios I can think of off the top of my head are not resigning Gordon which would have put them over the tax. But in that case you can argue that the Bulls were doomed to mediocrity if they had resigned Gordon, and it's the biggest reason we are in a position to get LBJ and Bosh. The other time is all of last year the Bulls straddled the lux tax line and JR wouldn't make any small moves to get over the tax. There were a few times where they could of and needed to due to injuries and whatnot and didnt. But I understand that and respect it. Why pay tons of extra money for a team that's not contending and is playing for next year.
  14. I recall reading something a while ago where Reinsdorf said he would have no problem paying the luxury tax if the Bulls were championship contenders. Yeah but saying that and doing that are different things. I'm just playing devil's advocate though. I believe that he will no problem, especially when a global superstar is on the team.
  15. Thanks Rnny, I knew we could count on you.
  16. Does Reinsdorf go to Akron with GarPax, Rose, Noah, and Thibodeau? Someone on RealGM said that's whats happening. He'd better because if he doesn't come that sounds a bad message to LeBron. JR knows how much this will mean to his franchise and the money making opportunities....he'll be there.
  17. It just seems weird. So Pat Riley tells Wade, "hey, go talk to Bosh, and show him these numbers. This is what we want to offer him. Also I wrote up some of our plans, how we want to use him, a basic outline of our offense, as well as how we plan to proceed as an organization over the next 5 years. Make sure you take notes about what he says and bring it back to me." Now obviously I think him doing that is tampering, but its hard to prove it as long as the wrong people don't get ahold of the plans he gives Wade to show Bosh. And even then you can't prove they weren't what Riley typed up to give to Bosh after 7/1
  18. did they address the news articles that reported days ago that lebron was spotted in NYC on Thursday and again Saturday night and that multiple people reported seeing Wade at the cubs-sox game on saturday and supposdely all week in Chicago? I'm not saying that makes it possible that they flew to Miami on sat morning and made it a point to be spotted in public in other cities later that night. Just wondering if thy actually addressed these reports.
  19. I don't know the exact details but there is a tread 1-2 pages into the Bulls forum that says that due to out of state taxed when players are on the road, you'd only be saving like 37k by going to Miami because I think a large majority of the income taxes are federal. I'd like the thread for you but I'm in line to take a pic with the Stanley Cup right now (I'm a name dropper). Just go on bulls realgm forum and you'll see the thread within the first 3 pages.
  20. Yeah there's a cap hold that would prevent the Heat from signing the other 2 guys then Wade.
  21. So yeah, they'd have to move Beasley. yeah and beasley makes 4.9 mil so even if they got them on a straight salary dump they are over $1 mil short if you include a cap hold for beasleys slot. And they'd only have 4 players signed if they signed all 3 and chalmers. Meaning the other 8 players would have to sign for minimum salary to make it work. You might get a couple of vets on board but 8 minimum salary players? Really stretchng it. Not sure if that's better than going to Chicago with the cast they have includig rose another near max guy Noah taj and Dengs cap space.
  22. I'm still not worried. For one, there are people I consider cap experts, or at least cap knowledgeable people on RealGM that are saying that Miami can't sign all 3 even if Beasley is traded. I guess it's possible that one or more of them sign for less, but it doesn't seem plausible. That's something you do in your 30's when your willing to sacrifice stats and whatever to win a title that has eluded you your career. I cant imagine Wade and James and even Bosh are willing to sacrifice their stats in the prime of their careers, when they are worried about things like legacy, and being amongst the greats of NBA history. In 20 years people will start to forget that these players sacrificed their careers for titles, and start only looking at numbers and see that LBJ for instance doesn't compare with other greats. Anyways, it's possible that LeBron is considering this, but ultimately I don't think he can allow himself to do that. It's between Chicago and Cleveland in my mind.
  23. If the Bulls don't get someone big (LeBron, Bosh, etc.) I don't know how I can watch them with no knowledge that they'll sniff a title for a while (unless they sign Carmelo next year). I mean I won't not watch them. I always watch the Bulls, but I'd be pretty down knowing that the next few years are going to be dominated by one super team. Similar feeling when the Celtics got together but at least then I knew it would only be a couple year run and the Bulls weren't really in a position to compete for a title.
  24. A few things: 1) There is no way with Michael Beasley on the roster that the Heat can afford Bosh, Wade and LeBron. And it's not even close. It's like $6 million off. Good luck getting two of those 3 guys to take $3 million less than max to join this super team that will effect all their stats during the prime of their careers. 2) Good luck getting a team to take on Michael Beasley knowing that doing so will open the gates for a potential super dynasty to rule the league for several years. I'm not saying it won't happen, but it would have to make a ton of basketball sense for a team to ok that deal. Don't think the rest of the league knows this and won't do anything to prevent it from happening. 3) If Wade is so confident about getting James and Bosh, why is he taking meetings with other teams like the Bulls?
  25. Another stat: For the season opponents (including the Cubs) are hitting a combined .286/.359/.468/.826 against the Pirates. The Cubs however are hitting .227/.307/.350/.657 against them. Unbelievable.
