    Of course it does....thats how statistics work. Manipulate them to go in your favor :) (there were 14 teams that went .500 in the preseason. The 13 that have played so far went 9-4. There were 8 under .500 teams, the 6 that have played so far went 3-3. You caught me)

    They hadnt moved the ball 1/2 on the other 3 plays. There were multiple games last year where we couldnt punch the ball in from with 1-2 yards. Our offensive line does an awful job on run blocking in general. Most likely the Bears could have forced a 3 and out, but if they don't you could be looking at a situation where they knock 6-7 minutes off the clock with a long drive. That point is the hardest to counter. But by passing up an opportunity for the lead with 8 minutes left in the game is the riskier call in the game. If the Lions werent moving the ball at all against the Bears, then they shouldnt have even worried about the Lions getting into FG range after taking the lead. Your third point was proven by the Bears being unable to move the ball following the 3 and out. As well as the other 2-3 times in the game where the offense stalled right there at the 40 yard line. Like I said before, I'm normally aggressive minded in these situations, but in this one I find it really hard to pass up taking the lead.

    For those that think preseason means anything. Another stat to show how meaningless the records are. Teams that had an above .500 record in the preseason went 2-7 in week 1 Teams that had a .500 or worse record in the preseason went 12-7 in week 1 Most people know there is no correlation but every year we hear people get excited over a bad team's 3-1 or 4-0 preseason.

    Apparently, the offense had the most total yards in a game since 1997. That's crazy.

    I only see 3 games where Big 10 teams are matched up with Pac 10 teams. But your right, 2 of those 3 aren't very interesting at all.

    The cowboys are going to be angry against the Bears next week. Either that or they aren't very good with their O-line beat up and we have a shot.

    That was a crazy ending. I missed the holding (how I dont know) so I went from thinking the Cowboys won to realizing the Skins won in a 2 second span. McNabb knew right away the game was over after the holding was called. That's crazy that he knew the penalty was enforced that way considering he previously didnt know things like ties existed.

    Yeah that's pretty bad. Especially because there are now twice as many posts after the game ended. We should just start series threads for the rest of the season.

    I don't think we can judge a full season on 1 game's performance. I think we can learn a little more about the team after a quality opponent on the road next week (Dallas). If Dallas loses this game tonight (and they are 2 minutes from doing so) we will see a really angry Cowboys team.

    I'll have to disagree, and I am usually for being aggressive in those situations. But with 8 minutes left in the 4th, down by 2, and a shaky offensive line that struggled immensely in those situations all last season, I think you gotta take the points. I understand the thing about the Lions being pinned on the 1 if they don't get it. And I get that the Lions sucked all game offensively without Stafford. It's not as much of a clear cut decision as I probably made it seem when it happened. But I think the better decision in this situation is to take the lead because you never know if you are going to get another shot in FG range.

    Dammit...I always like when a penalty takes points off the board because the offense is given an automatic first down and then the offensive team turns it over.

    USA won this tourney fairly easily despite sending our "B" team. It's amazing how taking these events seriously allowed us to reclaim our international dominance. The gap is a lot closer than it was in 1992 (a LOT closer), to the point where we could lose any game we play. But we'll be the best team on the court every night for the foreseeable future.

    dammit i wish i didnt waste my waiver spot on picking up Derek Anderson. Before you all laugh at me its a 12 team league where 2 QBs start and Leinart was my 2nd QB because WRs and RBs are more valuable in my league the way points work.

    #20 in the AP. Again, extends the streak of consecutive seasons being ranked for at least 1 week. I don't know if we've ever had a season where we werent ranked for at least 1 week. If we have it happened pre 1970 Edit: Just looked it up, 1967 is the last year where UM wasn't ranked at least once in a season, including preseason polls.

    I just cant see how you take away a chance to have the lead. Your d makes a huge play for you and gives you the ball at the 1 yard line and you get 0 points from it? It took the Bears until 1:30 left to actually take the lead. They apparently didnt have a huge margin of error.

    Lovie says he would make that same call in that scenario any time. I just don't understand that. The Lions had I think 1 first down in the 4-5 possessions since stafford left the game. The chances were that they werent going to do much. A FG hypothetically gives you a great chance to win the game. Lovie is lucky that A) the Bears won and B) the controversial call took almost all the attention of the game. Otherwise, the heat on Lovie is brutal. If a FG ties the game,and a TD takes the lead, I can understand the decision a little more. If it was only the 3rd quarter, I can understand it. But with 9 minutes left in the game, where a FG gives you the lead and a TD also gives you the lead, its a really bad decision IMO

    Oh and BTW, I take back most of my argument about Cutler's performance. For some reason I thought I saw he had 44 attempts today. He only had 35. Statistically, that is a very good game. Still infuriates me when he misses wide open WRs when hes standing in the pocket.
