  1. First shift with Leddy he didn't look all that great.
  2. Stupid Yankees. I really wanted to see a series between these two teams for once.
  3. Yes for 2 reasons: 1) Haine doesn't have a noodle arm like Collins has. I'm not saying he has a strong arm but he can move it down field if need be. He's better suited to run watered down version of Martz's offense 2) He is definitely somewhat mobile, which Collins is anythin but. So if the offensive line fails as it has in some or all of the 4 games we've played, we have Collins in there waiting to get plowed or Hanie who can get out of the pocket and at least run a couple yards forward instead of 7 yards back.
  4. yeah sorry...1997...I am just full of #-o the last couple of days. it is hard to explain, but claude lemieux had been a thorn in the wings side the previous 2 playoffs seasons and then put the cherry on top with a cheap shot against kris draper in game 6 of the western conference finals. the march 26 1997 game was revenge http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kou0p5oI4Xk Yeah I definitely remember the peak of the Wings-Avs rivalry. Good times. I remember feeling jealous because the Hawks were fading, the Wings were winning Cups, and the Avs were stealing our rivals away. I also felt conflicted becuase even I hated Claude Lemieux and being a Wings hater I wasn't supposed to.
  5. Good point. Also I would expect to see some screen passes. Lots of conservative stuff that doesn't involve passing the ball for more than 5 yards, which are impossible for Todd Pierre (Juan Collins?) to complete.
  6. Predicted high temperature in Chicago on Sunday: 78 degrees. I love the Bears and I love watching the Bears. But I am not sure I can go through watching another 2 hours of Todd Collins pretending to be a Quarterback,
  7. Dude wtf, Collins is a complete stiff. Anyone would be better than him. Are they trying to recreate the Johnathon Quinn - Quincy Carter 04 matchup with Collins - Claussen? I'm changing my score prediction to 3-0 Panthers.
  8. Care to explain? http://www.detroithockey.net/pressbox/news/2007/03/26/red_wings_blank_ducks_to_end_skid.php
  9. It's becasue the GM is delusional. Cohesion is worthless without talent. You aren't going to get a line playing well just through coaching and playing together every week. It's that myth that has kept Olin Kreutz the most important part of this line despite playing the least important position on the line. You can probably make an average line pretty darn good under the right circumstances, but you aren't going to make a crappy line great just by hiring a new coach. And in the age of free agency and salary caps you can't just rely on cohesion to make you good. Guys are going to leave and fresh bodies have to be resupplied constantly. The goal should not be to have the same starting 5 week after week, the goal should be to have the best 5 lineman you can find. That whole thing is agonizing but the bolded is particularly nauseating. There's the problem. Should have kept Pace. Omiyale stays at LG. Garza at RG. Williams at RT. That line wasn't good, but it's because the same 5 only was together for 10-12 games! So what happened in the situation of Tait-Brown-Kreutz-Garza-Miller? They played together for i think 3 years and got progressively worse! Is what Lovie is saying...incorrect?
  10. Why? It's kind of weird for a former Cub to be playing in the playoffs and he actually has considerable postseason experience. This is his 5th playoffs and 6th playoff series.
  11. I'll always remember how fricken awesome he was the first 2 months of 2008 when we got him. After that though he never was the same but showed flashes. When he was on he was right up there with 2003 Prior in terms of dominating performances
  12. Cincinnati doesn't look like a good bet to erase the NL Central champs 9 game playoff losing streak.
  13. I just posted the Yahoo site...there are plenty of hockey journalists out there who believe the Hawks will defend the Cup. I think come playoff time when depth is not quite as important(unless there are a lot of injuries) and the Hawks young players have a season under their belts they will be a very tough team to beat. I havent seen a single hockey journalist that has predicted that the Hawks will repeat. I've seen maybe 1 out of 5 pick the Hawks to win the central. I don't even think I've seen any pick the Hawks to win the West. Granted I've only looked at maybe a grand total of 25 different predictions but still.
  14. Texas is 3 outs away from their second playoff win in the history of the franchise.
  15. No one's gonna argue that the Hawks are going to keep going without missing a beat this season NUN. Depth is a huge factor in hockey, and its one of the reasons the Hawks were as good as they were the last 2 years, especially last year. They easily have enough talent to be a middle tier playoff team, and as far as the playoffs go, there's a lot for us to learn before we can determine that.
  16. Hendry is the Cubs' Rasputin. He will outlive everyone on the team except Rothschild.
  17. Not really...the Bears really fucked us by cutting Alex Brown and deciding that anderson was going to succeed with Peppers on the other side. All those moves were done after Gaines died. I'm not saying that didn't suck, although I have no idea how much he could have actually helped. But it came down to the Bears thinking that with Peppers drawing double teams on the other side, Anderson would be able to succeed at a cheaper price, and decided they didn't need Alex Brown in that situation. Nevermind the fact that the Bears could have easily had both with no cap. It was just them being frugal after spending a crapload on Peppers and it's biting them in the ass.
  18. I don't see how that is true Well Cubs payroll is supposedly going to drop slightly, so we have to probably shed a little excess salary to fit Dunn in there, unless we don't plan on making a lot of other moves (bullpen, 4th-5th starter, bench guys, etc). Cubs are probably set on an OF of Soriano, Byrd, and Colvin next year and it wouldn't make sense in their minds to keep a $10 mil 4th OF. If they can save some money by getting rid of him they probably will. I'd prefer to keep him but that's how I see it playing out. He was their most productive OF this year. They may be stupid enough to pay him to play elsewhere, but there's no reason why they "might have to". You and I might not see a reason, but I am going in with the assumption that the Soriano-Byrd-Colvin OF is greatly preferred by the Cubs, regardless of who was more productive. Even if it wasn't, the fact that Fukudome makes more than Byrd and Colvin would have probably swayed them when they went through the roster looking for ways to save money.

  20. Fukudome doesn't have to go, but if we want to sign someone like Dunn he might have to.
  21. Doesn't really justify the signing, but I heard on the Score yesterday that the only reason Grant was "released" from his UFL team is because him signing with an NFL team was imminent, and this was the quickest way to get him eligable to sign with an NFL team coming from the UFL. So it was a gentleman's agreement with him and his old team that got him released. Also, Grant was actually in route to Nashville to sign with the Titans when he heard the Bears were interested. He determined that the Bears gave him a better shot to play so he decided to sign with us instead.
  22. I gotta say, I am very disapointed in the Blackhawks box set. The quality of the videos is mediocre at best. Its in standard definition, which I consider unacceptable in 2010, especially when we clearly know there is an HD broadcast out there. The videos themselves are just the original broadcast of the game. There is absolutely nothing else to the set, no bonus features to be found, and all of the games except for the Cup clincher end abruptly moments after the game ends. Bottom line, these are YouTube quality videos and I could have paid less to download better quality videos of the games on iTunes. I definitely feel like I wasted my money and hope I can convince you to not make the same mistake I did. Stay away.
  23. Could a signing of someone like Corey Simon be around the corner?
  24. This move pisses me off so much. Why in the hell couldn't we keep Alex Brown? Because the Bears couldn't afford Peppers and Brown. Fine, Peppers is great...but why not just cut Anderson in the offseason? GSDGSDRHRJS
  25. Has a 3-1 team ever been considered "fun bad"?
