  1. I think it's dumb to have JoePa's name on the trophy when A) He's still alive and still an active Big 10 coach, and B) He spent the large majority of his career coaching outside the Big 10, and won all his championships before joining the conference.
  2. Well yeah the theme works, but who the heck decided there needed to be a theme between the division names and the end of the year trophies?
  3. Same here. Who can remember these moments from September: -The dropped fly ball in the bermuda triangle during that game in San Jose that blew the game. -Blowing a 9-4 lead to the Pirates in the first game of a doubleheader, but winning 10-9 -Getting shut down by Ryan [expletive] Vogelsong in that game series. -Prior pretty much winning every game he pitched handily. To the point where everyone considered it a win when he was scheduled to pitch. -The Shawn Estes game of course. -Losing to Cincinnati 1-0 with Zambrano pitching a gem (9 IP 4H, 1 ER on a 2 out bloop single) -The Cubs getting rained out the final Friday of the season, and watching a 68 win Brewers team score 9 runs in the first 2 innings to destroy the Astros, bringing the magic number down to 3. -Of course the doubleheader sweep to clinch the division.
  4. BUT MICHIGAN AND PENN STATE WIN 10 GAMES EVERY YEAR!!! Plus you have to split Indiana and Purdue up since they are historically the two best basketball schools in the Big Ten. Please tell me this crap doesnt carry over to basketball. I could have sworn there were no divisions in basketball. I don't think they do, but I wanted to rehash that old comedy gem.

  6. Do you think Delaney created those names while barhopping last weekend at sports bars with the same name, or do you think he stole them from the names of the two conference rooms at the Mariott he was staying at?
  7. "And Wisconsin with the big win over Penn State, staking claim to 1st place in the Big Ten Leaders Division"
  8. The Legends Division and the Leaders Division. Are you kidding? Yay I hope Michigan can finish at the top of the Legends Division next season.
  9. Don't you get it? The logo can say B10 or BIG or BIGTEN or B10TEN

  11. I hated the Soriano signing and thought we could do better than someone with a .836 career OPS for our LF vacancy. And then factoring in that he was getting $17 million a year for that career .836 OPS and I was pretty upset.
  12. If the Bears only plan on winning 1 game the rest of the year, this one should be it.
  13. Yup, we were talking about it a page or two ago.
  14. Yeah it's just too bad the Rams don't have a shot in hell of beating the Saints. They could play 10 on 11 and it wouldnt change the outcome.
  15. Apparently making players cry the night before a game is not the best way to toughen them up for a game.
  16. I don't know apparently Rose, Thibadeau, Stacey King, Wennington, Swirsky and a few different writers believe it's the former. It's not just something the fans made up.
  17. Did anyone else see that Tillman was seen with a walking boot on and crutches after the game? And yes, playing in the Metrodome would significantly decrease our odds of beating Minnesota.
  18. lol that's your rebuttal?
  19. Sure that would be understandable if superstars actually had to draw contact in order to get a foul called on them. I understand that he's not going to get to the line as much as someone like Wade or LeBron, but I've seen too many drives to the hoop where he is going right through traffic and getting hammered and not getting calls. If you watched enough Bulls games, you'd understand the difference between when Rose does his "avoid contact" drives, and when he goes right at the hoop and is aggressively defended. It's not as black and white as "Rose avoids contact and others do" as you seem to suggest.
  20. Right because the worst that can happen is a bears loss to tie in record, as well as head to head. The bears will win the division record 5-1 vs. 4-2 So if the bears lose next week and packers lose as well, the bears cannot clinch with just a win the next week against the jets. They would need the packers to lose to giants. Assuming both teams win it would come down to that last game and I believe the packers are ahead in the tiebreaker after division. So as you can see the road gets a LOT more difficult if we lose next week
  21. How many times is that phrase going to get used? People have been saying that for like three of the last four games. They're all big down the stretch. It's true though. They haven't made the playoffs since then and this is a fantastic chance to clinch a playoff spot. If they lose this game against Minnesota, it's a big step back and makes it so we probably have to win the GB game as we won't have the tiebreaker.
  22. I didn't realize how devastating that packers loss was for them. Despite the embarrassment the bears can clinch the division with a win over Minnesota and a packers loss to NE. The reason why is because it would clinch the division tiebreaker over the Pakers, which is the first tiebreaker after head to head. If the Bears in fact lose to Minnesota, it opens the division back up and makes the packers bears game probably necessary for division. Thus, next weeks game against Minnesota is as close to a must win game as they come without actually being must win. This is the biggest Bears game since the NFC Championship game
  23. Yeah it was an ton of things going against the bears that did us in. First of all the Pats offense is a horrible matchup with our cover 2 as some pointed out. It's even worse when you can't get pressure with your front 4. It's not schemes it's not playcalling it's te fact that the Pats are simply more talented. They have an all star offensive line that pretty much forces you to blitz in order to get pressure. If you don't get pressure someone will get open. It's very easy to find those holes in the zone. Brady also threw a couple of deep balls to keep the Bears from cheating. On the offensive side of the ball, Cutler had an awful game. His throws were off all game. I don't know if it was the wind or what (although Brady didn't seem to have trouble). Because of that the Bears really couldn't get anything going or take advantage of the weak Pats run d. The one thing I don't understand is what the he'll happened to the run d? That's what really killed us. That was a piss poor effort by the linebackers and d line. Also although they didn't matter, it was sickening to see how many dropped interceptions the bears had. Chris Harris might have changed the momentum of the game had he caught that one int.
  24. I'm trying to decide which game was worse to attend, this game or the game last year against Cincinnati. I'm gonna say this game was better for 2 reasons: 1. In this game there was actually something to cheer about, as we managed to make the Pats go 3 and out on our first drive. In the Cincinnati game, I believe the Bengals got the ball first, scored a TD, then the Bears went 3 and out and the Bengals scored another TD and the rout was on. 2. This game was at home, so while there was a ton of Pats fans at the game, it was better than being in Cincinnati with dumbass Bengals fans yelling "Who dey?" in my face.
  25. That would be a huge break to not play at the dome. But it's also damaging that the Giants don't have to play there either.
