  1. Peter King randomly vaulted the Packers to number 1 in his "Fine Fifteen" on the basis of how they've played over the last month. The games they played? 4 point win over the 3-7 Vikings, a 9-0 win over the 8-2 Jets, a 38 point win over the 3-7 "We're trying to get our coach fired" Cowboys, and a 28 point win over the 3-7 "We are too" Vikings. I'm not necessarily arguing they shouldn't be ahead of the Bears or anythng (Bears are 9th). But nothing in that schedule from the last month screams "We should be ahead of 3 different teams that have a better record than us, including 2 in the tougher conference".
  2. The division is a much safer route to go than the wild card if you want to make the playoffs. As far as the Wild Card goes, there are realistically 4 teams fighting for 2 spots: Bears/Packers loser Saints Bucs Giants Technically the Redskins (5-5) have an outside shot as well. But based on having 4 different 7-3 teams fighting for a spot, I'm starting to wonder if 10-6 is not going to be good enough to make the playoffs. Will the Giants go worse than 4-2 and the Bucs finish 2-4? In that case 10-6 will take a WC spot. If the Giants go 4-2 or better, and/or the Bucs do better than 2-4, we're looking at a 10-6 team not making the playoffs most likely.
  3. I have nothing against Vinny as a person and wish him well with the Clippers. But instead of crediting VDN for leading the Bulls to the playoffs with mediocre teams the last two years, I start to wonder if we could have been much better with real offensive and defensive sets instead of the garbage vinny had us run.
  4. Might? That is a no brainer. The fun thing is that if we finished with a 6 seed we could be looking at a WC game against GB. Even though thats a much harder game I'd love to play the packers in the playoffs. It would be nice to propel packers-bears over pakersvikings as the chief rivalry in the north
  5. Devin Hester accepts your challenge.
  6. That's a good point. As much as I'd love a home game, I might rather go to St. Louis to play the Rams, then play New Orleans or Philly at Soldier Field.
  7. Ohio State 45 Michigan 27
  8. Not a great day for the Bears today. Falcons won to stay a game ahead for best record in the NFC Packers won to tie the Bears in the NFC North Bucs won to keep pace with Bears in potential WC race Saints won to keep pace as well. At least either the Giants or Eagles are going to lose, meaning that there will be a 3 way tie between the Saints, Bucs, Packers/Bears for the 2 Wild Card spots. Also it slightly is good that Seattle lost, meaning that if we are fortunate enough to win the division, we have 2 games on Seattle for the 3rd seed.
  9. Bet more average baseball fans could identify Tom Collins than Mike Quade.
  10. This Favre/Vikings marriage couldnt have turned out better. Watching Favre build up the expectations of Vikings fans only to crush them in the NFC championship game. Then the next year completely destroy the team first with an embarrassing controversey then with awful play.
  11. Just one of those nights, or was the beatdown a wakeup call that their effort so far this season isn't going to get it done? May be a fluke but the timing, coming the night after getting beat down is curious. I missed the game, was the score indicitive of how well they played.
  12. What did your signs say? I am watching the recording on my DVR right now.
  13. lol Calgary had only one 1 of its last 8 games before tonight.
  14. Calgary Honestly, I have no [expletive] clue why I said Anaheim. I clearly, by previous posts on this page, know they played Calgary. I have no idea why my brain randomly told me to type Anaheim.
  15. I think we're the best in the East with Melo. I don't know maybe. Even though the Celtics are older, they have a ton of depth and most of the key players have been playing together for multiple seasons. Very tough to say that the Bulls are outright better than them, but there'd definitely be some solid competition from our guys.
  16. Yeah I don't know about that. Those guys in LA look pretty good this year, no? I think they might have a future in the league. And no I'm not talking about the LA team with Blake Griffin on it.
  17. Yeah seriously. Last November, the Hawks blew out the Sharks 7-2 in San Jose. This November, we are the ones getting blown out on the road against Anaheim 7-2.
  18. Do the Bulls even want to do that trade at this point. OK of course they do, but despite the 2 previous games before today, Taj is a very solid piece and gives the Bulls depth when Boozer comes back. Also, as maddening as Luol is, he's said to be an extremely positive influence in the locker room this year and has never worked harder. Still, obviously you do that trade without a moment of hesitation. I guess my point was, while we definitely need another scorer, we're certainly not garbage without that player.
  19. If anyone is interested, I took some pictures of the setup around Wrigley Field tonight while walking my dogs. Photo quality is 'meh' with my iPhone but you get the idea... http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs992.snc4/76503_714280763681_22000467_39447646_1758860_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1224.snc4/155612_714280788631_22000467_39447647_4120553_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs588.ash2/151090_714280449311_22000467_39447628_5162987_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs488.ash2/76172_714281302601_22000467_39447673_6417725_n.jpg A bunch more inside..
  20. So much for owning the Flames. This team can't even do THAT anymore.
  21. They said they couldn't and quite obviously they cannot since the game is tomorrow. You folks were right and I was wrong. The Cubs.com site stated the following: "Since the Bears played, additional seats have been added at Wrigley along the left-field line, which made the north-south configuration unworkable for the Illinois-Northwestern game." I just wanted to hear it from the horse's mouth, that's all. I'm prettysure that info is posted in this thread somewhere.
  22. Maybe Mike Maddux would want to work with his brother. Obviously he's currently employed by the Rangers who probably regard him highly after last season.
  23. Why is this in Cubs discussions? Are the Ricketts gonna make a play?
  24. See I dont know....as much as I ripped on Rothschild at times, you could certainly make a case that he did a good job in most cases. The Cubs have consistently had good pitching staffs almost every year he was the coach, and there has been a lot of turnover yearly on the staff. How he pulled an above average pitching staff last year out of Zambrano, Dempster, Lilly/Colemen, Wells, Gorzelanny/Silva I'll never know. I guess we'll know for sure how good he was next year.
  25. Ouch, didn't see that coming. Who are some candidates to replace him?
