  1. Apparently making players cry the night before a game is not the best way to toughen them up for a game.
  2. I don't know apparently Rose, Thibadeau, Stacey King, Wennington, Swirsky and a few different writers believe it's the former. It's not just something the fans made up.
  3. Did anyone else see that Tillman was seen with a walking boot on and crutches after the game? And yes, playing in the Metrodome would significantly decrease our odds of beating Minnesota.
  4. lol that's your rebuttal?
  5. Sure that would be understandable if superstars actually had to draw contact in order to get a foul called on them. I understand that he's not going to get to the line as much as someone like Wade or LeBron, but I've seen too many drives to the hoop where he is going right through traffic and getting hammered and not getting calls. If you watched enough Bulls games, you'd understand the difference between when Rose does his "avoid contact" drives, and when he goes right at the hoop and is aggressively defended. It's not as black and white as "Rose avoids contact and others do" as you seem to suggest.
  6. Right because the worst that can happen is a bears loss to tie in record, as well as head to head. The bears will win the division record 5-1 vs. 4-2 So if the bears lose next week and packers lose as well, the bears cannot clinch with just a win the next week against the jets. They would need the packers to lose to giants. Assuming both teams win it would come down to that last game and I believe the packers are ahead in the tiebreaker after division. So as you can see the road gets a LOT more difficult if we lose next week
  7. How many times is that phrase going to get used? People have been saying that for like three of the last four games. They're all big down the stretch. It's true though. They haven't made the playoffs since then and this is a fantastic chance to clinch a playoff spot. If they lose this game against Minnesota, it's a big step back and makes it so we probably have to win the GB game as we won't have the tiebreaker.
  8. I didn't realize how devastating that packers loss was for them. Despite the embarrassment the bears can clinch the division with a win over Minnesota and a packers loss to NE. The reason why is because it would clinch the division tiebreaker over the Pakers, which is the first tiebreaker after head to head. If the Bears in fact lose to Minnesota, it opens the division back up and makes the packers bears game probably necessary for division. Thus, next weeks game against Minnesota is as close to a must win game as they come without actually being must win. This is the biggest Bears game since the NFC Championship game
  9. Yeah it was an ton of things going against the bears that did us in. First of all the Pats offense is a horrible matchup with our cover 2 as some pointed out. It's even worse when you can't get pressure with your front 4. It's not schemes it's not playcalling it's te fact that the Pats are simply more talented. They have an all star offensive line that pretty much forces you to blitz in order to get pressure. If you don't get pressure someone will get open. It's very easy to find those holes in the zone. Brady also threw a couple of deep balls to keep the Bears from cheating. On the offensive side of the ball, Cutler had an awful game. His throws were off all game. I don't know if it was the wind or what (although Brady didn't seem to have trouble). Because of that the Bears really couldn't get anything going or take advantage of the weak Pats run d. The one thing I don't understand is what the he'll happened to the run d? That's what really killed us. That was a piss poor effort by the linebackers and d line. Also although they didn't matter, it was sickening to see how many dropped interceptions the bears had. Chris Harris might have changed the momentum of the game had he caught that one int.
  10. I'm trying to decide which game was worse to attend, this game or the game last year against Cincinnati. I'm gonna say this game was better for 2 reasons: 1. In this game there was actually something to cheer about, as we managed to make the Pats go 3 and out on our first drive. In the Cincinnati game, I believe the Bengals got the ball first, scored a TD, then the Bears went 3 and out and the Bengals scored another TD and the rout was on. 2. This game was at home, so while there was a ton of Pats fans at the game, it was better than being in Cincinnati with dumbass Bengals fans yelling "Who dey?" in my face.
  11. That would be a huge break to not play at the dome. But it's also damaging that the Giants don't have to play there either.
  12. Interestingly, this will be the Patriots first game in Chicago since 2000. New England is one of two teams to have never played in the new Soldier Field. The other is the Jets. The Jets actually haven't played in Chicago since 1997. The obvious reason why it's been so long, is they both played road games against the Bears in 2002, while the Bears played in Champaign. This is only the 11th time that the Bears and Patriots have ever played a regular season game (12 overall). The Pats are 7-3 against the Bears going into the game tomorrow. (0-1 in the postseason :))
  13. Yeah I thought the play was about even. The Blackhawks didnt get a ton of really good chances, but neither did SJ
  14. [expletive]. We played really well in the game...both teams did. At least we didnt get dominated. We had much better chances in OT though. Dammit Crawford's winning streak is over.
  15. Posts like this miss me miss Cynosure and the reaction he would have had to this. I also would have loved to see his reaction to winning the Cup. Where are you Cyno.
  16. I noticed the Sharks fans are still booing Soupy every time he touches the puck.
  17. The stat I'll always remember is that Z only allowed 9 home runs all season in 2003. In Game 1 of the NLCS, he allowed 3 homers in the span of 4 batters. Awful.
  18. It's becoming increasingly likely that we are gonna be playing in terrible conditions tomorrow. I'm hearing with the winds and heavy snowfall we might be seeing a whiteout effect during the game. The snow is quite possibly gonna neutralize any kind of gameplan for either side and even up the talent I would think. The winner will be whoever handles the elements better.
  19. Stat of the day: Tommie Harris has a grand total of 9 tackles all year
  20. Couldn't agree more. As great as that season was, the way it ended pretty much ruined all the good memories. That video was depressing to me knowing how close we got. That's crazy becuase in 03, losing didn't hurt the memories of getting there, but in 08 when we got swept I still to this day haven't really thought much about the 08 season that got us to the playoffs. I think in 03, the playoff run was a bit unexpected, and plus we felt confident that we'd make it back there in 04 with our rotation, bolstered by the additions of Lee, Hawkins, Barrett and Maddux.
  21. I still think the 2004 team was the best team we've had on paper during the Hendry regime. Honestly I don't think that's arguable. I'd have to side with 2004, but 2008's team looked pretty good towards the end of the year. I loved the pitching on paper as much as 2004's. Zambrano, Harden, Dempster, Lilly, stupid head. Prior, Wood, Zambrano, Clement, Maddux. Offense, the Cubs had a crapload of power in 04, but 08 had much more patience. Lee vs. Lee is a slight adv to '08 Lee. Walker/Grudz vs. DeRosa, adv DeRo. Nomar vs. Theriot, adv Nomar. Ramirez 04 vs. Ramirez 08, slight adv '04 Ramirez. Alou vs. Soriano, adv Alou. Patterson vs. Edmonds, adv Edmonds. Sosa vs. Fukudome, adv slightly Sosa even though he was awful. Barrett vs. Soto adv Soto.
  22. It would be completely awesome if we could win on Sunday, and while it would definitely hurt our playoff chances if we lose, it wouldn't be devistating. That takes a bit of the pressure off.
  23. Brandon Spikes, who is the Patriots 2nd leading tackler as a rookie this year, was suspended 4 games for PEDs today. Let the breaks for the Bears begin! http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/nfl/news/story?id=5906897
  24. A lot of fans were turned off by his homerism, but to me that made him all the more endearing. Exactly. I don't understand why people would get upset at that. He is a Cubs announcer, he should be a Cubs homer. He was one of us, a fan who just happened to be in the booth. And Sox fans feel the same way about Hawk. It's all a matter of perspective. I don't care, I love him and will miss him I can't really put a finger on it. I feel like there's a difference between Santo's homerism and Hawk's.
  25. I wish NSBB still had the threads from the 2003 season. I used to peruse them occasionally. I only started posting during the playoffs, but there were some good memories shared. I wish I could remember what the Game 6 thread was like when "it" happened.
