  1. I honestly wouldnt take anything from Spring Training appearences, especially ones in late feb/early march. I highly doubt he's approaching hitters anything like how he plans to in the regular season at this point.
  2. The first tiebreaker is regulation + OT wins. SO wins are not included. That's all it was saying. It was enacted by the league to, in a small way, lessen the importance of SO wins. And I don't disagree. Yeah it makes sense. But its impossible for you to calculate the tiebreaker without going through every game on the schedule and counting them, which is stupid. I honestly don't know what the point of the points system is. As much as I would hate some fluky gimmicky event like the shootout determine the winner or loser of a contest, I'd rather do away with the extra point for OTL and just do Wins and Losses just like everyone else. Who cares if they lost in regulation, OT or a shootout, they still lost. I hate feeling good about getting a point in a game we lost, or feeling unsatisfied about giving a point to a competitor in a game we won. Just for fun, if they did away with OTLs, this is how the West would look like: 1. Vancouver (1) 40-24 -- 2. Detroit (2) 39-25 1.0 3. San Jose (3) 37-27 3.0 4. Los Angeles (8) 35-28 4.5 5. Chicago (4) 35-29 5.0 6. Dallas (7) 34-29 5.5 7. Anaheim (9) 34-30 6.0 8. Minnesota (11) 33-31 7.0 ------------------------------ 9. Phoenix (5) 33-32 7.5 10.Columbus (12) 31-31 8.0 11.Nashville (10) 32-32 8.0 12.Calgary (6) 33-33 8.0 Crazy how much that changes everything.
  3. However, the actual quote was: I've never heard of Patrick Mooney before, but I can safely conclude that he sucks. Welcome to the 24 hour news cycle. If there's nothing newsworthy to report, just make something up and watch it blow up. Even if it is quickly proven to be a misleading crop of a quote, once the story reaches ESPN, its guaranteed to blow up and the real context of the quote is ignored forever. I'd personally be petrified to speak to the media if I was a pro athlete.
  4. The Tribune article on the game confused me. They started talking about tiebreaker rules. Last year the tiebreaker between 2 teams was overall victories. Now I think this article is saying that SO victories do not count for the tiebreaker, and only regulation wins is what is used to break ties. That sounds really confusing as you can't even find that info on any sort of stat tracking websites. 5. He is 42 for his last 150 3 point attempts (28% even), covering a span of 33 games.
  6. lol UC chanting "MVP" for Toews. Seems to be a theme at the UC this year.
  7. If the season ended today, game 1 of the playoffs would be at the UC :) Minnesota and Calgary were both red hot and we got 4 points from them and gave them back 0. That's awesome. Not the prettiest finish but you can't be upset about that. Makes the Bulls loss today seem trivial.
  8. holy crap are they trying to give me a heart attack. This team won't be truly dangerous until it lears how to play 3 periods
  9. Dammit. Nothing is easy. 4 more minutes to hold on for dear life. No penalties please.
  10. We'll soon find out it resembles the Minnesota game of 2 nights ago or the one from last year.
  11. Hold on to your hats, time to sweat this out. If we give them even a point, it will be very very disapointing
  12. Minnesota got killed by the Islanders today too. Huge night for the Hawks playoff chances if we can hang on.
  13. FROLIK!!!! The floodgates are supposed to open now correct?
  14. There's one that's not. And he used to post on this board.
  15. Did David Kaplan contribute to that report?
  16. Well we've been discussing for over an hour in other threads, so I guess they all beat you too!
  17. We know Z is a ticking time bomb. We also know alledgedly Garza is a hot head as well. And now we know Silva is slightly insane. This is going to be a fun year.
  18. The trib reported that the Cubs said that Silva "is not in the right frame of mind" to speak about the incident. lol
  19. We are the only team in baseball that seems to have a fight between teammates in the dugout every year. In fact I can only think of 2-3 instances of other teams having fights between each other during games in my entire baseball memory. But we did it in 07 (Z and Barrett), 09 (Lou and Z (verbal altercation)), 10 (Z and Lee) and now 11
  20. Maybe silva isn't treating these games as an audition and is just doing what pitchers whose spot is secured do, which is work on their pitches
  21. Well that's been the problem all year. All year we've shown flashes of what we expected this team to be only to see them fall flat on their faces and end up back at square 1 again. This stretch of taking points in 9/10 games is the most prolonged stretch of this kind of play in a long time, so it is very encouraging that we haven't seen a turn in the other direction yet. On paper though, we clearly should be on of those 5 teams that gets in, and most likely towards the top.
  22. Acceptable if and only if you're a first generation immigrant from the Dominican Republic and you bought that jersey before you came to America. And your last name is pujols.
  23. If the Hawks win tonight, regardless of regulation or OT they will be in a 2 or 3 team tie for 4th place, with a game in hand on Phoenix, and if we beat Calgary in OT, 2 games in hand on them, so based on tiebreakers, we would own that spot. 10 days ago, did anyone think we'd be in position to take over the 4th seed so soon? Good job, but no let downs. Keep it up.
  24. Really wish he was attempting this comeback with a team other than the Yankees. I will still be rooting for him though. Always loved Prior.
