  1. Here's tonights update as it applies to the Hawks playoff race: Predators beat the Wild 4-0 Coyotes beat the Flames 3-0 As a result, the Hawks remain technically in 4th place, but it is now a 3 way tie between Phoenix, Calgary and Chicago. The Hawks have 1 game in hand on Phoenix and 2 on Calgary so that's good. Nashville's win also cuts the Hawks playoff cushion to 3 points. Here's how the standings look after tonight: 4. Chicago 81 68 5. Phoenix 81 69 6. Calgary 81 70 7. Dallas 80 67 8. Los Angeles 79 67 ------------------ 9. Nashville 78 68 10.Anaheim 77 67 11.Minnesota 77 68 Hawks still have 2 days off before their next game. Here are the games that effect us the next 2 nights: Friday: Los Angeles @ Columbus Minnesota @ Dallas Anaheim @ Colorado Saturday: Colorado @ Nashville Vancouver @ Calgary Just for fun, this is how the standings would look if everyone of those games went against the Hawks. 4. Calgary 83 71 5. Dallas 82 68 6. Chicago 81 68 7. Los Angeles 81 68 8. Phoenix 81 69 ------------------ 9. Nashville 80 69 10.Anaheim 79 68 11.Minnesota 78 69 That's actually not as bad as I thought
  2. I'm gonna guess that this is the game that the Heat break through and win a close game and everything will be right in the Heat world for now. But if they don't it will be hilarious
  3. I posted this in the sports jerseys thread, but I figured Id create a thread for it too since I want anyone who wants a jersey to take advantage of it and its today only. This is a fantastic deal by Modell's. They have t-shirts, hats, sweatshirts, jerseys, etc for every sports team, and its just about all 40% off, and free shipping over $49. I just bought a red Toews jersey, red Noah jersey, white Rose jersey, white Castro jersey and a blackhawks cap for $270 when it would normally cost ~$450. Enter the code MOD4TEN39 to get the discount. Hope you can take advantage as it ends at midnight tonight!
  4. I don't know how long this lasts, but Modell's is having a 40% off sale right now on everything, including sports jerseys. Instead of having to worry about the quality of a knockoff, you can get a personalized Castro jersey for just $60 (free shipping over $49 too). I am about to buy a White Castro jersey, a Red Rose jersey, and a Red Toews jersey for $200 when it would normally cost $320 plus shipping. The promo code is MOD4TEN39 Website: www.modells.com
  5. There was a really good article on ESPN.com on Monday I think that proved that historically, there is more of a correlation between blowing out bad teams in the regular season and playoff success, than winning close games against good teams and playoff success. If that's the case, Miami should be in decent shape since they still have the best point differential in the East. They definitely blew out a lot of bad teams. I think they might be the exception though because they can't beat ANY good teams.
  6. 1st question, I think it hit the top of the glass and bounced back in. I think that means it shouldnt be a penalty. It's only out if it gets to the netting or into the crowd right? The Hawks announcers were pretty convinced it wasn't a penalty. 2nd question, I know the play you are talking about. I believe it was Seabrook that stopped the puck from going in the net with his stick. I assumed that they scored too and was amazed that it didn't get in
  7. Bulls are Central Division champions and first team in the NBA to clinch their division.
  8. As shitty as that was, and as disappointed as I was, I would have taken the 1 point when we were down 3-1. Good job coming back. The shootout is a crapshoot that didnt go our way tonight. Whatever. 4 point playoff cushion...tied with Calgary or Dallas for the 4 seed. We'll probably be around 7th or 8th the next time we take the ice, which I believe isn't until Sunday.
  9. Lightning get just their 2nd and 3rd points of the last 10 available
  10. Hawks lose. [expletive] 1 point on the trip. Either Dallas or Calgary will be tied for 4th with the Hawks tonight.
  11. Dammit Taser had him beat. Aghh
  12. Lets win this crapshoot!
  13. Noooo!!! Breakaway stoned by Roloson. I thought that was gonna be game.
  14. Thank God this road trip isnt a complete failure. Let's kill the rest of this bogus penalty and get the other point!
  15. Can both teams just agree to pass the puck around in the neutral zone for the rest of the 3rd and take the guaranteed point and play out the OT?
  16. Yeah these guys are bullies
  17. It could just be a sprain. Would look the same walking off as a torn ACL. I have a feeling he'll be fine after a week off.
  18. Interesting game so far. First off, I am really impressed with TB. I know their record was good, but I hadn't seem them play all year. They look solid. The Hawks are only down 1, but TB is controlling play, doing a good job of clogging up the neutral zone. I missed the 1st period but the Hawks really haven't had a lot of even decent chances since I started watching. Hopefully we can luck our way into a couple of goals and then hold on, but fatigue is going to come into play if it hasnt already
  19. Here you go: http://mlb.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=516770 1 K in 19 ab's is not bad. No need to worry about walks when he hits .474. my personal feeling is that great players get walked, they don't look for walks. if castro continues to hit well, he will be walked a lot. I dunno...there's enough Hall of Famers with low walk rates out there to make me question that.
  20. http://www.supplyjerseyss.com/products/Chicago-Cubs-s973_p1.html That is the site oldstyle posted about and gave a good review of above your post on this page. White Castro jersey is one of the first ones. Edit: Also a road Castro at the bottom of page 2
  21. not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4?
  22. If we beat Charlotte tomorrow, we clinch a playoff spot. Our magic number for the division is 3. It could be down to 1 at the end of tomorrow. 2 for the division. Indiana lost tonight. Bulls own the tiebreaker. Ahh forgot about the tiebreaker. Bulls can clinch the division tomorrow then since both teams play. Awesome.
  23. Do you think Thibs will let the Bulls overlook any opponent in the playoffs? Do you think the Bulls even need Thibs to remind them? They will certainly have confidence going into a potential series, but at the same time, the Bulls have to know that all 3 of those games could have gone the other way with one play.
  24. Definitely not a great night for the Blackhawks....besides their loss, Minnesota, previously in 9th, won handily in Colorado. Phoenix lost but got a point out of it. Nashville, who was tied with Minny, is tied at the 2nd intermission with SJ so they are in a position to potentially score some points. So our 5 point playoff cushion was eaten into a bit. Here is what things look like now pre-Nashville result: PTS GP 4. Chicago 80 67 5. Dallas 79 66 6. Phoenix 79 68 7. Calgary 79 68 8. Los Angeles 77 66 ----------------------- 9. Minnesota 77 67 10.Anaheim 75 66 11.Nashville 75 66 So now just 3 points seperate the Hawks and no playoffs. I'm pretty confident they'll get in, but I'd love for it to be easier. Tomorrow there are more big games. We have Los Angeles traveling to Detroit, Calgary playing in Dallas, and the Rangers facing Anaheim at the pond. The Hawks must get at least 1 point tomorrow to have any chance of staying in the 4th seed, as Calgary and Dallas are both 1 point behind. Best case scenario: Detroit over LA Calgary over Dallas (because we have a game in hand over Calgary) NY Rangers over Anaheim Blackhawks over Lightning PTS GP 4. Chicago 82 68 5. Calgary 81 69 6. Dallas 79 67 7. Phoenix 79 68 8. Los Angeles 77 67 ----------------------- 9. Minnesota 77 67 10.Anaheim 75 67 11.Nashville 75 67 Worst case scenario: LA over Detroit Dallas over Calgary (in OT) Anaheim over NY Rangers Lightning over Blackhawks PTS GP 4. Dallas 81 67 5. Chicago 80 68 6. Calgary 80 69 7. Los Angeles 79 67 8. Phoenix 79 68 ----------------------- 9. Minnesota 77 67 10.Nashville 77 67 11.Anaheim 77 67 Drop to 5th, another team ties us, 2 teams 1 point behind, and 3 teams knocking on the door.
