  1. At least all your core players and young and...oh yeah nevermind.
  2. I don't think it's Hendrys fault that he spent so much money. I believe the Trib told him to up the payroll to get a winner however possible. But it's definitely his fault who he spent the money on, with no long term plan or strategy. It should have been blatantly obvious as far back as 2007 that the 2010-2012 years were likely to field mediocre teams. But Hendry was trying to save his job, so f the future right? The worst contract by far for the Cubs is the Soriano contract, and the rumors say his hands are clean on that. Other bad contracts.... -Badley/Silva (his fault given the choices out there and the needs we had this is a inexcusable failure) -Zambrano (definitely gave him way too many years for a pitcher who at the point was proven to be a level short of elite....everyone let that slide in 2008 when we were winning 97 games but now its awful) -Fukudome (misjudged his ability to transition his game to US, but then again a lot of us did. I don't remember a single dissenter when we signed him) -Dempster (pretty damn inexcusable to give a pitcher his age that much money after 1 great season...especially with Z, Lilly, Harden already on the team at the time) -Grablow (what the hell was he thinking? Seriously. I would pay money to hear him explain his way out of that one) The worst thing about all those contracts (and others)....they are all backloaded and we are paying for it now. -Soriano is making $9 mil a year more than he made the first year of his deal (07) -Zambrano is making $~3 million a year more than he made in 08 -Ramirez is making $7.75 million a year more than the first year of his extension (07) -Fukudome has gotten a $7.5 million raise since the first year on the Cubs -Dempster's deal has gone up $5.5 million since his first year in 09 -Pena is a 1 year deal paid over 2 years -Marlon Byrd is making $2.5 million more than he made last year and will make another $1 million next year -John [expletive] Grabow got a $2.1 million raise after that disaster of a season last year. -Marmol will make $3.2 mil this year, and $9.8 million in 2 years (but this one is at least arby raises) -Lilly's contract paid him $5 million in 07 and $12 million last year, a $7 million raise. All in all (excluding Marmol, Pena and Lilly) that's $37.35 in raises from the first year of their deals (all signed between 07-09) to now. How can Hendry get away with this short sighted general managing? Does Tom Ricketts want to know why only 25k are attending games this year? Hendry is a big reason why. Hendry has done a few nice things from time to time. I can't deny that. But what I listed above are fatal errors that demand immediate termination. I will be sick to my stomach if Hendry is in charge of building the next incarnation of the Cubs. Please don't let this happen.
  3. Truthfully, for Hendry that's barely enough for Pujols and Grant Balfour or relief pitcher of similar ilk
  4. I can think of a lot of teams that could contend very soon with $60 million to spend. The fact that Hendry might have $60 mil to spend has almost nothing to do with him.
  5. couldnt have happened to a better guy.
  6. tix on stubhub for like $6 for this one
  7. Even with Scalabrine and Thomas off the payroll, the Bulls are committed to $5mil more than their payroll this year... http://hoopshype.com/salaries/chicago.htm That Boozer contract is gonna end up being a real albatross. Maybe. They also have multiple tradeable contracts as Bogans, Watson and even Taj have team options after next year. Brewer and Korver also have tradable contracts that have at least some value (signed for under 5m/yr for 2 years after this one). The only players signed long term are: Boozer (4 more years) Rose (likely to sign 5 year extension this offseason) Deng (3 more years) Noah (5 more years with extension last fall) The rest expire this season, next season or the season after. The Bulls have a lot of flexibility despite being held to 2 pretty bad contracts (Deng and Boozer) Edit: Obviously, this all depends on the new CBA having at least some resemblence to the current one.
  8. For real? Josh Smith took a ton of outside shots yesterday. At least 6-7 that I can recall.
  9. The latest date the Finals will end is June 16th, so no NBA players will be playing on or after Father's Day. I'm expecting a couple rain outs. That's true. Sweeping Miami in the conference finals will probably cause the UC to close down for a week or two to clean up the flooding caused by their tears (realgm joke).
  10. You say you are mad because Rose isn't making shots at an efficient rate and apparently that's why he's had a bad postseason but as I mentioned before, he is scoring just as efficiently as he did in the regular season. One is vastly more important than the other. You can believe whatever you want to believe but there really isn't a valid argument here. Boozer is having a bad postseason. Gasoline had a bad postseason. Rose has had a fine postseason to this point.
  11. Also, because of the fact that the Bulls create so many extra possessions and shot attempts with their offensive rebounding, the shooting 40% isn't hurting nearly as much as you think it is. I'm not saying its ok to take 32 shots, because its not at all. We wont win many games with Rose taking 32 shots. But you are overreacting a bit here.
  12. OMG A BAD GAME AND A BAD 3 QUARTERS rose is having a bad POSTSEASON. it's funny how i knew exactly what you'd be saying about rose's performance tonight before i even went back and read through the thread. you seriously have to be the biggest rose homer of all time. I wouldnt say Derrick Rose is having a bad postseason, considering a number of advanced metrics show improvement over his regular season performance, including PER (however you feel about the stat) and win shares per 48 minutes. That said, his TS% has plummeted and clearly doesn't pass the eye test. But bad postseason? no way. PER is garbage. stop using it. Rose is shooting 40% in the postseason. Ther'es is no way around it. He's having a bad postseason. Unless of course you think chucking up 25-30 shots a game at 40% is somehow helping the team OK, give all those shots to who exactly? Also, Rose is averaging almost an identical points/FGA as he was in the regular season (1.26 regular season to 1.25). Rose is creating offense out of nothing and that alone means he's having a good postseason. Even relative to expectations he's not having a bad postseason. Maybe mediocre or below average, but not bad at all. I'm sorry but you are wrong here.

  14. SSR's trolling has been [expletive] awful lately. It used to entertain me, now it just causes me to roll my eyes.
  15. Game 5 is the season. Talk about the Hawks being mentally beaten after game 3....how are the Bulls feeling after this one?
  16. Well it would help if the defense didn't give them 3 wide open dunks so far. Other than that they are 5/7 and have hit some heavily contested shots so I'm with you there.
  17. If the Bulls are out at any point, I think I'm gonna throw my support behind the Mavs. It was funny watching them choke in the playoffs all those years, but it would be really nice to see Dirk win one before his skills start to erode.
  18. Man it's noticeable how many empty seats there are in the bleachers on a nice May Sunday against a division rival.
  19. BRB, going to start a "Jon Leicester sucks" thread.
  20. Is that a surprise? I say bring him off the bench for 12-15 mins a night and start Taj. Or sit him until the ECF, assuming we make it that far.
  21. Yeah wow. I don't really dislike Wellemeyer. I used to like him when he was on the Cubs even though he wasn't always very good.
  22. DeWitt should probably get more playing time. He seems to be taking advantage of his limited opportunities.
  23. Normally I cheer for perfect games....not today.
  24. I know, the silence is noticeable.
