  1. There's still 'One Pitch' Rich!
  2. oh god. No dude its totally hilarious to gloat about the result of a preseason game that no one gives a [expletive] about. Preseason performance (which wasn't that bad actually) is a perfect indicator of how a season is going to play out. As such, every Bears fan is walking around embarrassed and unable to look a Packer fan in the eye today because they are so ashamed at how the team played. That's why chucky's words really hit home, because while we figured we were screwed after last night, this really hurts. lol seriously, someone gloating about a preseason game? Actually I wouldnt even call it gloating, because gloating implies that you are adding shame to the shamed, and clearly none of us give a crap about the final score of the game last night. Ok ok, I understand as I only saw the second half last night. But sports radio doesn't seem too pleased with their overall performance. Anyways, just trying to get the juices flowing early. See you Sept 25th. Sports radio was livid at the Bears 0-4 preseason last year and most people wrote off the team. Then the season started and they won the division. Sports radio was heaping tons of praise on the Lions 4 years ago after they went 4-0 in the preseason and looked good doing so. They were even becoming a trendy pick to win the division. Instead the season started and they went 0-16. I figured you just saw the score and said something, but I think you are smart enough to know that the scores of preseason games are pointless and tell us nothing. And maybe the sensationalist sports radio stations are disappointed, but the Trib's original article on the game this morning was titled "Offensive Line Looks Improved in Bears Loss", not "Horrible Bears get blown out and embarrassed".
  3. Castro is a nice piece, but he is nowhere near the kind of player you worry about "wasting" his cheap years. Why not? He's already about a 4 win offensive player right now at age 21 and should only increase his power in the next couple years (and already has taken a step up from last year). I'm not saying he's for sure going to be a superstar, but given what he's done so far, it would be stupid to say he is nowhere near that kind of player.
  4. Fear is a hell of a drug. Soriano and Z have put fear into Cubs fans over contracts. Which is stupid because no one should have expected Soriano to perform like an $18 million a year player to begin with, and certainly not in year 5 of the contract. As far as Z, if you thought that it was risk free to pay Zambrano that much for that long at that stage of his careers, then that's just silly.
  5. Are you for serious? I hope he mixed up Bruce Miles and Bruce Levine. Bruce has been one of the only people in the media to question Hendry's ability to do that job based on his outdated philosophies.
  6. Of course their only not awesome starter is matched up with our crappy starter.

  8. What is so funny? Did you use the wrong smilie?
  9. 41-6 after a 97 yard TD run. PS that dude is fast
  10. God, our red zone offense has been horrible all night. We have like 5 solid drives and 6 points to show for it.
  11. The Packers will be really good but I think people are overrating Green Bay just a little. They act like the 2011 NFC North title has already been awarded to the Packers. I know they beat our 3rd string QB on our home field in the NFC Title game but...eh whatever, I don't know where I'm going with this.
  12. Gotta love our leading receiver from last year playing late in the 4th quarter of a preseason game.
  13. That's 16 base runners and 0 runs. 9 hits and 7 walks.
  14. Probably showing him off so people think they had a good offseason. I wonder how he feels about running the ball up the gut in the 4th quarter of a preseason game? Heh. He's "fighting for a job" lol
  15. Horrible AB for Pena as the tying run with 0 outs in the 9th. Venters just walked 2 batters in a row and was having a ton of difficulty throwing strikes. So Pena takes one strike and then starts swinging at garbage. He threw 4 pitches, 3 balls and one extremely borderline strike.
  16. I think that's a needed dose of reality for a lot of Cubs fans. HA. HA-HA-HA. The next Pujols. GFY Pujols's grow on trees. They are a dime a dozen.
  17. Probably showing him off so people think they had a good offseason.
  18. 14 Cubs baserunners and 0 runs? Wow Cubs have had at least 2 batters reach in 6 of their 8 offensive innings so far, and 0 runs to show for it. Cubs are 1-10 with RISP tonight. Of course the 1 hit was a weak single that couldnt score the run.
  19. May I remind you the Bears went 0-4 last preseason and were outscored 46-84. In the 3rd preseason game, the one where the starters play into the 2nd half, the offense produced 0 points. Against the Raiders, the Bears gave up 32 points. They looked really bad. And the started 3-0 in the regular season.
  20. Grades so far: Cutler: B+ (Pretty solid game all around) RBs: B (missed some blocks that I can recall but great play on the screen pass by Forte. Good job getting extra yards by Barber. Taylor was actually decent too) WRs: C- (not very impressed. Roy Williams no catches, only 2 targets. Hester had some nice plays but tripped in the end zone and ran backwards on a screen. Just didn't seem to make much of an impact.) Run blocking: C+ (not a ton of holes created, but did pretty good setting up screens a couple of times. Could be worse, could be better) Pass blocking: B+ (only reason its not an A is Webb, who looked really bad out there. Also a couple of false starts. Carimi held his own, and the less I hear from Williams, Garza and Louis the better) TE: C (didn't really observe them enough. Kellen Davis had a hold called on him. Spaeth caught a pass but that's not what he's here for) DLine: B (pretty good pressure on Manning early on, but later on didn't get nearly as much. Missed tackles on running plays hurt) Linebackers: C+ (again started the game really well, but a ton of missed tackles on running plays is not acceptable. Still Urlacher was all over the place and Iwuh had nice zone coverage on a pass to the end zone) Secondary: C (got beat quite a few times, way too many 3rd down conversions) Special teams: C+ (had good coverage on punt returns, bad coverage on kickoff returns, Knox had 1 good kickoff return and a couple of bad ones. Punters were solid and Gould was 2-2 on FGs. Blocked punt led to a quick Giants TD was obviously a bad play) Overall, it wasn't as bad as the score. Offense had a couple of decent drives, defense had a couple of decent stops but had a couple of bad drives as well). Overall I'd say C+
  21. Man, J'Marcus Webb is so awful. Talk about holding on every play. He gets beat often and every single time he is beat he holds the guy.
  22. Yeah we should probably target a legit WR in the offseason. It's too bad we didn't have the cap space to sign anyone good this year because there were quite a few good WRs out there. But, but, but Roy Williams was a Pro Bowler under Martz in Detroit and his college coach is on the Bears staff. That means he will lead the league in receiving, right? Yeah with the tiny bit of money the Bears had to spend on a WR, obviously they had to go after a question mark with a high upside. They simply couldn't afford a legit receiver.
  23. Should probably run forward when you catch a screen Devin.
  24. Well the first team offense produced 2 scoring drives tonight even if they were both FGs.
