  1. Remaining Blackhawks from the team that won the championship 12.5 months ago: (names on the Cup only) Toews Bolland Hendry Hjalmarsson Hossa Kane Keith Seabrook Sharp That's 9 players left from our Cup winning team just over a year ago. And I'm assuming Hendry will be gone too, so we are looking at 8 essentially. That cup team has essentially been stripped to its "core", and now Bowman is trying to build another championship team from those guys. Sure hope it works.
  2. Someone tell Bowman we don't really have to trade all these players away now. Not that Kopetzky is an untouchable by any means but still. I am really interested to see what they do this offseason now. On the surface it looks like they are gutting the rest of the role players from the Cup team and building around the "core" but is this a quick plan or one developped over 2-3 years? I'm not interested in wasting any years of Kane/Toews core to "rebuild"
  3. Hope no one tells the cubs that although this is the first game of the series, its also the last.
  4. McGehee having a .596 OPS and -0.5 WAR gives me an irrational amount of happiness. Well it does remove one of the irrational rants meat head Cub fans like to use against Hendry. Now if Hamilton could just implode we'd be doing alright. I think his well pronounced struggles in day games this year will eliminate a large portion of those meatballs.
  5. Well at least we know we'll win the next one.
  6. Long term we are looking good but switching attention to this year, we have a lot of work to do. Losing Campbell was a good move but hurts the team in the short term. We were already low on depth but losing Brouwer cuts that even more. Anyone know a comprehensive NHL rumor site? I am interested to see who the Hawks are looking at?
  7. Pretty sure he won't count against our cap next year either so whatever.
  8. I was at dinner and missed the first 25 mins but was following on my phone and excited to come back and watch. within a minute of turning it on mexico scores their first goal gah
  9. Repeat of Confed Cup final against Brazil?
  10. 17-33 over his last 8 games, with 7 multi-hit games over that span. Un-real. If the kid showed a bit more plate discipline, he might be perfect. Although each passing day, that one flaw matters less and less to me.
  11. Keith/Seabrook Hammer/Leddy Campoli/Lelonde?
  12. ok now Richards is a possibility. damn this is interesting
  13. Are the Hawks clearing space to make a run at Richards? Maybe if they managed to trade Soupy. Can't see the, going after any high priced players as we stand right now. The Brouwer trade is interesting though, seeing as we need to be acquiring depth, not losing what little we have.
  14. That will look really weird in 30 years when people who werent around to see Artest play, will read about how a man named World Peace charged into the stands and started punching fans.
  15. I put together the 16 games of interest from the schedule this year, which is basically the Canucks and Wings games along with a few others. 10/7 - CHI @ DAL - Season Opener, and a thank you to the Stars for choking away their playoff spot to us. 10/8 - DAL @ CHI - Home Opener, and now the Hawks fans can congratulate them as well 10/13 - WIN @ CHI - Only apperance of the Winnipeg Je...Thras....whatever they are this season. 10/15 - BOS @ CHI - Last 2 years Stanley Cup champs facing off 11/6 - VAN @ CHI - 4 Stanley Cup championships combined for these two franchises 11/16 - CHI @ VAN - Chris Campoli gets a hero's welcome upon his return to Vancouver 12/30 - DET @ CHI - First Hawks-Wings game isn't until Dec 30th? 1/5 - CHI @ PHI - Guess the SCF matchup from 2 years ago still has intregue 1/8 - DET @ CHI - Hope to be battling for 1st place in the Central right about now 1/14 - CHI @ DET - First visit to the [expletive] hole this season 1/31 - CHI @ VAN - LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU 2/21 - DET @ CHI - Another Hawks/Wings game...no home/home to end the year this year 3/4 - CHI @ DET - And another one 3/18 - WAS @ CHI - Sunday afternoon game, the paper champs vs. the 10 Champs, good stuff 3/21 - VAN @ CHI - One last tune up before our 4th straight playoff matchup hopefully 4/7 - CHI @ DET - Season finale
  16. what in the hell did the flyers just do?
  17. [expletive] me, Maggette and SJax are two of my 2nd scorer targets for the Bulls, Jackson especially. LOL @Sacramento in that deal. They get Salmons back, 3 years older and a lot more expensive.
  18. I think he pretty much has to be the Cubs all star. Who else has stood out from this team? -Pena maybe but 1B is way to stacked in the NL to overlook the damage his April did to his season numbers. Maybe at least a consideration with Pujols maybe out for the game. -Soriano might get some consideration...I am not sure how crowded OF is. -None of the starters should really be considered, but in the pen, Marshall or Marmol are always options. Looking at NL SS, Reyes is the lockiest lock that ever locked and I believe is winning the fan voting (right?). After that Tulo is the only guy I think can be argued should get in before Castro. Hanley has a worse OPS for the season than Rnny Ceen, so unless he gets voted in, he's out. And considering none of the other Cubs seem to be obvious choices for all-stars, I think its more than likely our SS becomes ALL-STARlin Castro. (look, I found a worse nickname than Cassie!)
  19. Hendry secure? Hendry secure? HENDRY SECURE?
  20. Guess we're going to need 2/3 at Wrigley to have a shot at the BP Cup. Yes the BP Cup, the greatest trophy in all of sports.
  21. Strong leadership could also mean putting together a plan, and sticking to that plan in the face of fan and media scrutiny. I'm not saying his plan is going to work or that I particularly believe in it, but I'm comfortable in letting him carrying it out without bowing into fan or media pressure.
  22. That was complete ownage. Almost every pitch he threw out of the zone was swung at and every pitch taken was a strike.
  23. Are you [expletive] kidding? Why is this bozo still on the roster? His 2.21 ERA and 1.08 WHIP as a reliever might have something to do with it. Fair enough. I still don't like him though
  24. You can exceed the cap by I think 7% to pay bonuses. Also, I know what happened with the Hawks is that Toews bonus for winning the Conn Smythe would have put the Hawks over the cap and the 7% for that year, so they were applied to the next years team. That's part of the reason we were so strapped last year.
