Would you be surprised if I told you that would be his 2nd lowest season OPS as a Cub? Currently tied for his career high in OPS+ though. Amazing what a radical shift we've seen over the last 5-7 years.

I saw Colts sign Collins and my first thought was 'oh no Todd collins is back in the league'

He took a line drive off his pitching elbow, and then his manager left him in the game to pitch? I'm very certain he didn't stay in that game. No he didnt. He missed a month, which I'd say is pretty crazy for someone taking a line drive off his pitching elbow. Strangely enough his ERA before the injury was 2.93 and the ERA post injury was 4.07.

I wouldnt worry about numbers, all thats important is he got out there and threw and felt good after the game.

Remember, no more being mean! I don't see where he agreed to that.

It's just not going to happen. His arm cannot be used for pitching anymore. Very very sad story. I remember when the Cubs decided not to sign him, many here were worried about the Cubs looking bad when Prior rose to 2003 level again. He has yet to pitch since leaving the Cubs. 5 straight years out of the big leagues. Geez.

2 pitchers I dislike going against each other.

How can we identify the "clutch" skill set, for future reference?

Damn this season has flown by. I just realized the Cubs have only 2 more homestands left this year.

That was disappointing Pena. Lately I think we fail more than we succeed with runner on 3rd with less than 2 outs.

People should remember to include Pena's $5 mil in their estimations.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the Cubs have had at least 2 hitters reach in 8 of the last 10 innings and have scored 0 runs.

oh god. No dude its totally hilarious to gloat about the result of a preseason game that no one gives a [expletive] about. Preseason performance (which wasn't that bad actually) is a perfect indicator of how a season is going to play out. As such, every Bears fan is walking around embarrassed and unable to look a Packer fan in the eye today because they are so ashamed at how the team played. That's why chucky's words really hit home, because while we figured we were screwed after last night, this really hurts. lol seriously, someone gloating about a preseason game? Actually I wouldnt even call it gloating, because gloating implies that you are adding shame to the shamed, and clearly none of us give a crap about the final score of the game last night. Ok ok, I understand as I only saw the second half last night. But sports radio doesn't seem too pleased with their overall performance. Anyways, just trying to get the juices flowing early. See you Sept 25th. Sports radio was livid at the Bears 0-4 preseason last year and most people wrote off the team. Then the season started and they won the division. Sports radio was heaping tons of praise on the Lions 4 years ago after they went 4-0 in the preseason and looked good doing so. They were even becoming a trendy pick to win the division. Instead the season started and they went 0-16. I figured you just saw the score and said something, but I think you are smart enough to know that the scores of preseason games are pointless and tell us nothing. And maybe the sensationalist sports radio stations are disappointed, but the Trib's original article on the game this morning was titled "Offensive Line Looks Improved in Bears Loss", not "Horrible Bears get blown out and embarrassed".

Castro is a nice piece, but he is nowhere near the kind of player you worry about "wasting" his cheap years. Why not? He's already about a 4 win offensive player right now at age 21 and should only increase his power in the next couple years (and already has taken a step up from last year). I'm not saying he's for sure going to be a superstar, but given what he's done so far, it would be stupid to say he is nowhere near that kind of player.

Fear is a hell of a drug. Soriano and Z have put fear into Cubs fans over contracts. Which is stupid because no one should have expected Soriano to perform like an $18 million a year player to begin with, and certainly not in year 5 of the contract. As far as Z, if you thought that it was risk free to pay Zambrano that much for that long at that stage of his careers, then that's just silly.

Are you for serious? I hope he mixed up Bruce Miles and Bruce Levine. Bruce has been one of the only people in the media to question Hendry's ability to do that job based on his outdated philosophies.

Of course their only not awesome starter is matched up with our crappy starter.
