  1. Jay Cutler is on pace for Career lows in completion percentage (54%), TD passes (20) and QB rating 78), and career highs in fumbles (12) and times sacked (60).
  2. I don't know why I just thought of this, but Roy Williams better keep his [expletive] mouth shut this week. BTW, our big FA acquisition with a huge 1 catch for 15 yard performance yesterday, giving him 5 catches for 70 yards and 0 TDs on the year. And to think, I thought that there were so many decent FA WRs out there, that there was no way Angelo would screw it up.
  3. I havent seen much preseason action, what are the projected lines looking like?
  4. Boston wins 110 next year, make Epstein co-CEO and the cubs miss out on a franchise changer. Cubs are forced to make Crane Kenney the GM and his first move is to field an all scrappy lineup as Eckstein and Erstad among others are lured out of retirement. Fixed
  5. If they put "Tiny Tim" Jennings on Megatron, I will probably stop watching the game for my own well being. Not like we'll stop him anyways, but at least it will look less embarassing. Anyone watched the last 2 Detroit games? I want to know what caused them to trail by 20+ points in both games. Lets be honest, Detroit pulled that one out of their asses yesterday and shouldnt have won. They also could/should have lost to hapless Minnesota who lost to the equally hapless Chiefs yesterday. Before that they looked really good in their domination of the Chiefs and their only slightly less dominating win over the Bucs. I think the team can be beaten, but on their home field during a prime time game that they are trying to use as their coming out party is the not the ideal situation to play them. To win they need Chris Harris back, they need to limit Major Wright's time on the field, Tilman needs to keep Calvin from having a Steve Smith like day. The Dline absolutely has to get a ton more pressure than they've been getting. On offense, the game plan has likely got to limit Cutler's deep dropbacks and the Bears need to get early success on the ground, as the more the Bears are forced to pass, the quicker their Dline will wear our guys down. It would also help if Earl Bennett is back as the offense hasn't looked the same without him. So while we could do all those things, and in the back of my head I feel like we are not as bad as we've played and are due for a surprising performance, I am gonna have to pick the Lions here. Lions 27 Bears 16 We CAN win this though. And not just in the "any team can beat any team on any given sunday" way.
  6. 2 losses in the SEC isn't so bad... They'd better get used to it.
  7. Blah. Hamels better be awesome the next game. Are the Phillies going with a 3 or 4 man rotation this round?
  8. I think his point was that if you give up 550 yards on defense and score 20 points on offense you will probably lose most weeks. Think of all that happened to keep the Panthers from winning -A blocked kick on a 30 yard FGA -A touchdown that came back because of a questionable penalty on Shockey -A penalty that costs the Panthers a FG as the kick went about 3 feet short of going through The Panthers left a lot of points on the field, which you'd probably expect if you give up 550 yards and only score 29 points.
  9. Baltimore's D turned a probable fantasy win into a definite loss for me.
  10. So Chris Spencer broke his hand today. He was able to come back and finish the game today, but I can't see him playing for a couple of weeks. We have major issues with the line (more than we usually do even) if Carimi cannot play next week. Suh is going to eat us alive.
  11. Despite the 200+ rushing yards would you consider this another disappointing offensive performance? Looking at the totals they produced 20 points, and of them 7 came on a drive that started at around the Panthers 35 yard line after Hesters return and 7 came from the drive at the end of the game that started at the Panthers 40 and most of those yards came on the Forte run to the 2. Other than that there was the opening drive FG and a FG drive midway through the 4th. What's missing were long sustained TD drives.
  12. I gotta say none of these games this weekend have been all that enjoyable. The best one was probably the phils game yesterday. I want to see some close games.
  13. Yeah but they still have Philly (who knows if they get their [expletive] together by then), San Diego, Oakland (now tough because we cant stop the run), and 1 more against Detroit and Green Bay. The schedule is pretty tough this year. Philly is in Philly, but the Bears are coming off of a bye week. Eagles coming off of a game vs. Dallas. San Diego is in Chicago in late November, should be a factor Oakland will be tough, but you never know what you're going to get out of them (or the Bears really). They could come out and play well or lay an egg. 2nd Detroit game is also at home. Tampa is in a neutral site that should be a more pro-Bears crowd. The Bears should win Minnesota x 2, KC, Seattle, and Denver. Like to think they can take 1/2 of the other 6 (including MNF at Detroit). Despite how bad Minnesota has been, I have a hard time chalking up a gimme victory in the Metrodome when the Bears have won there once in the last 10 seasons, including seasons where the Vikings were bad.
  14. I'm pretty sure I openly cried watching the Cowboys/Bears debacle on Thanksgiving in 2004. That was the worst QB'd game by both sides that I've ever seen. Here's a youtube video I found of that game highlighting just how awful the QBs on both sides were in that game: Craig Krenzel, Jonathan Quinn, Drew Henson, Vinny Testaverde
  15. Ha yeah. Pretty incredible to go from Favre to Rodgers. Packer fans have been spoiled to say the least. I dont think you guys even know what it is like to not have a good QB. Even those years where Favre was bad, he was no where near as bad as the QBs the Bears have started over the years.
  16. Yeah but they still have Philly (who knows if they get their [expletive] together by then), San Diego, Oakland (now tough because we cant stop the run), and 1 more against Detroit and Green Bay. The schedule is pretty tough this year.
  17. I wonder who your next superstar QB is going to be after Rodgers retires in 15 years.
  18. I don't know what to think of Auburn. They almost lose to an awful Utah State team at home to start the year, then beat Mississippi State, lose on the road to Clemson before they were considered good by most, then go on the road and beat a highly ranked SC team.
  19. hah
  20. Great performance by Max Scherzer so far. 1 hitter through 6. The series immediately shifts into Detroit's favor if they win this, with Verlander starting game 3 in Detroit.
  21. Rumor is that Francona, Epstein, and Gonzalez are all tied at the hip. Gonzalez? Is this the punch line to some weird joke that I don't get or am I completely overlooking some obvious Gonzalez? Im guessing he means Adrian Gonzalez, but that doesn't make sense.
  22. I dont think ive ever seen the AP and Coaches polls so much in disagreement. Oklahoma AP: 3 Coaches: 1 LSU AP: 1 Coaches: 3 Stanford AP: 7 Coaches: 4 South Carolina AP: 18 Coaches: 14 Michigan State AP: NR Coaches: 20 Auburn AP: 15 Coaches: 23
  23. Why waste a surprise onside kick against the Broncos?
  24. So does anyone feel any better about the Bears after this one? Defense gives up 550 yards, the running game was awesome but the Panthers suck against the run and the Bears had similar domination against them last season, the passing game was incomplete mostly but Cutler made some [expletive] throws and in general didnt have a ton of time to throw. The Panthers are somewhat decent but this kind of performance will not cut it against most of the teams on the schedule.
  25. This must feel the exact opposite of the 0-16 season for Lions fans. I cant even strike up a healthy hate for him because if anyone deserves to win its these guys.
