  1. Brian Urlacher will make the HOF. I don't think its as much of a question mark as you guys are making it.
  2. Prince Fielder pretty much says that he's not going to resign with Milwaukee. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/breaking/chi-fielder-probably-last-year-with-brewers-20110914,0,2500499.story
  3. Haha bill simmons picks the bears over the saints straight up as his upset pick.
  4. Thats exactly why I hated Edmonds so much. I hated everything about him, well beyond just baseball, much like LaRussa. But I'm not saying I wouldnt want him on the team, I'd just not like him. LaRussa is a little different because managers don't have nearly the impact that players do (obviously). That said, if I could be promised a WS title if he was our manager, I'd welcome him with open arms....but still dislike him.
  5. What am I missing in your sig? . I think it's a joke Re: WSR's infatuation with LaHair. I will neither confirm or deny. you are right
  6. now you guys know how i felt about Edmonds. If LaRussa came on board and the Cubs won 100 games, would you then like him? Or would you be appreciative of the 'help' he gave us but still dislike him?
  7. I really hope people weren't trying to call him and get a quote out of him. This is one of the situations in life where you just leave a guy alone.
  8. I think there are general division matchups, but its been getting more random by the year. The NL Central, with 6 teams, is always mismatched and there are always weird matchups to go around.
  9. In comparably unimportant Urlacher news, he was named NFC player of the week today.
  10. Ulracher is the kind of player that I think will ultimiately decide to play and have a monster game because of it. That said, it is obviously completely understandable if he doesn't feel like he can play this weekend.
  11. Yay, Matt/Ryan/CJ Garza/Dempster/Wilson vs. Strasbourg.
  12. April 5th is late? didn't they open up on like April 11th this year? Game 1 was on April 1st this year. My bad. That said they opened up on the 5th last year, and the 6th in 2009
  13. April 5th is late? didn't they open up on like April 11th this year?
  14. Boston 2 years in a row after playing them once in the first 13 years of interleague play?
  15. That doesn't free up a roster spot for LaHair, though. LeMahieu and Flaherty would replace Baker and DeWitt's spots even if you believe both should be gone. And I'd disagree that Baker should be gone. LeMahieu isn't going to be close to the hitter against lefties that Baker is and he could be very valuable should we let Aramis walk this offseason. I'd strongly prefer to keep Baker around. Just as an aside...Check out DeWitt's numbers against lefties...for his career his OPS is over .100 points better than it is against RHs, and this year he's hitting .380 against them. Basically, I think one of him or Baker is gone. Both can do the same job, both high lefties....One is just 5 years younger and going to make less than half a million next year. Once again, this is going to be on hell of an offseason. New GM has so many assets to play around with...I really can't wait for this regular season garbahge to end. I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but are you calling Dewitt/Baker an asset?
  16. The line has already shifted to Bears +7. I'd take the Bears and a TD.
  17. Mike Leake career against the Cubs: 6 GS, 6 quality starts, 2.74 ERA, 1.05 WHIP
  18. Have you been watching the last 7-8 years? Even the increase in expectations the last few years leaves the Cubs with extremely low expectations for a big market big money team. There were lots of people who didn't think Hendry should go after all this time. Meh, after seeing FA acquisitions being Boo'd in April after a slow start, I relalized the expectations were pretty high. Maybe not as high as the Red Sox or Yankees, because ultimately winning brings the highest expectations IMO, but considerably more than probably 25-26 of the 29 other teams.
  19. Easy there, spaz. Sorry, its been 9 months since I've been able to comment on these. I promise the rest of the rants will be much more restrained.
  20. You were all waiting for this. ESPN's POWER RANKINGS ARE OUT!!! http://espn.go.com/nfl/powerrankings/_/year/2011/week/2 Rant contained in spoiler tags due to space considerations.
  21. I remember my 13 year old self going through UMFanesque bouts of despair when MRob was snubbed for the 1999 pro bowl team. I thought he wasn't in the game because he had Phantom of the Opera tickets instead.
  22. Why are violent crimes always being committed in famous people's houses but the famous person is convinently never involved?
  23. Have you been watching the last 7-8 years?
  24. And the main reason Sosa "learned to take walks" is because he started hitting 60 HRs a year. As soon as he started declining, he quickly reverted back into all or nothing Sammy.
  25. Figure up mine. I can't multi-task today. 11-5 SSR went 8-8...fine bounceback after a horrific 2-7 start
