  1. I bomb atomically socrates philosophies and hypothesis can't define how I be droppin these mockeries lyrically perform armed robbery
  2. Yeah that didn't happen. I did see a decent number of Jets and Thrashers fans, but never once did I hear a chant for the Jets. Not saying it didn't happen elsewhere in the arena, but it definitely wasn't loud enough to be heard. And yeah, the atmosphere wasn't dead. Maybe compared to the first couple of Jets games at their new home, but it was plenty loud at the UC last night.
  3. I'm going to go with, the Red Sox compensation demands. So now they would demand compensation for an Asst. GM to get a GM job with another team? That has never been done, and if they ever want to hire someone from another organization they won't be the first to do it. Henry has said you don't block your employees if it's a promotion. Yes but at that point, the Red Sox would be pretty fed up with the Cubs due to the failed Epstein negotiations and would make it extremely difficult for the Cubs to take Cherington. I think it's more likely that if the Cubs fail to make a deal with Boston and Theo stays, that Cherington ends up taking the Baltimore GM opening, or maybe the Angels.
  4. Also, there's no way of knowing whether Theo's contract even allows for his being moved to another role. That part could all be a huge bluff.
  5. What the holy hell? I can't believe anyone involved in any of this thinks this is a good idea. Anyway also of note is that the Big East is supposedly going to invite Air Force and Boise State as football-only members and UCF, Houston and SMU as all-sports members, although I don't know how that's affected by this asinine merger. Wow how does that conference deserve a BCS automatic bid with those teams. Big East would be: Rutgers West Virginia Cincinnati Louisville South Florida Connecticut Air Force Boise State Central Florida SMU Which of those teams is going to be able to beat the Big Ten/Big 12/SEC/ACC champ in a bowl game? Hell, which one is going to sell even half their ticket allotment?
  6. Did anyone post this earlier? It's from the SOSH thread I'm still going through. I have no idea who SoxScout is but he's the one that tweeted this:
  7. lol, the Sox farm system is good, but ok Keith Law
  8. Yeah I'm pretty sure every GM would refuse to deal with him indefinitely. Plus, Henry still has veto power over everything Theo does.
  9. This is a hilarious read. I thought the SOSH people were supposed to be level headed "smart" posters. I mean I know their viewpoints are going to be unconsciously biased towards the Red Sox and vice versa for us, but some of the things they are saying are just plain ridiculous. They think that not only do the Sox have all the leverage, but they have significant leverage. Nah, I don't think so guys.
  10. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT BOSTON HAS ALL THE LEVERAGE. THE CUBS WILL GIVE UP CASTRO AND JACKSON OR NO THEO FOR YOU. /Boston media
  11. Or maybe they finally realized that nobody cares about the WBC and decided to pull the plug mid game. It's not the WBC it's the WCoB.
  12. Meanwhile, Scott Miller chimes in saying that some sources are telling him Jackson tweaked his foot while others are saying he did not.
  13. Can't access from work anymore...and due to some new teaching assignments, too damn busy. I'm still lurking from home a lot, just don't have much to say. C'mon the old Vance always had something to say. Did you even come up for your annual Cubs road trips last year? If you did I didn't hear about it. I still owe you a beer from last time.
  14. Might have something to do with your user name. Just sayin.
  15. I got one for rubbing the NFC Championship Game victory in your face. Totally worth it. jerk
  16. Don't forget Ricketts! Yeah I almost put him there, but I wouldn't call him a baseball mind (at least not yet) as he readily admits that he has a lot to learn about baseball, but understands the philosophies that have made teams successful in this era of baseball and is smart enough to hire the right people to make it happen.
  17. See? Even tight lipped owner John Henry is essentially admitting Epstein is a Cub. So for the few of you that are worried this won't happen, stop.
  18. Permanent. I feel like 2/3rds of the top 25 non-mod posters on NSBB would be disqualified if you counted temporary bans. Who among us hasn't enjoyed a temporary ban at some point in NSBB's history? :bye: You haven't been posting with enough edge if you've never gotten a temp ban yet. Thanks again N&G! :)

  20. Yup, but it's 'business as usual' for the Red Sox with Theo hanging out and doing his job.
  21. Who is out there that would be better? Seriously, I have no idea what catching free agents are available. Albert Pujols for catcher!
  22. Hm... no thanks? He's 29 years old and he isn't good behind the plate or at the plate. He hit .202 with RISP last year in 114 at-bats. He has the 7th highest WAR among catches between 2008-2011. I am find with that for my starting catcher. Not a great year last year and rather inconsistent but still a solid catcher. Oh and he's improved behind the plate. Geo had a very, very good 2008 and a very good 2010 and a very bad 2009 and a bad 2011. He's the definition of inconsistent. And as I said, he's 29. He doesn't have that much more room to improve. He's due for a good year according to that. Why not sell him while his value is high. His value might not be lower than right now. That said, we can still get Theo from Boston for less than Geo.
  23. Hm... no thanks? He's 29 years old and he isn't good behind the plate or at the plate. He hit .202 with RISP last year in 114 at-bats. Why do you believe he isn't good behind the plate? Is it because that is the only reason you can justify Koye Hill being played? He didn't hit well in any situation last year FTH? This Soto tangent is very, very un-Theo. Theo would drool over his .393 OBP in 2010.
  24. How about Geo Soto too? Hm...
