  1. JUST ONE MORE STRIKE
  2. Did anyone expect anything different?
  3. Yup, sounds about right
  4. [expletive]. Of course the tying runs are in scoring position now. How many consecutive ABs, dating back to last year, have the Cardinals been down to their last strike of the season and extended the season by getting on base?
  5. Its like they said 'ok we've given them enough runs, lets start our comeback now'
  6. [expletive] hell
  7. When the Nats were up 6-0 I briefly thought about how this board would react if the Cardinals came back to win. I was certain that there would still be some very tense moments in this game.
  8. Here we go again. They won't [expletive] die.
  9. Why do I get the feeling that the Orioles are about to give up 2 runs to lose the series?

    NFL Week 6

Not to take anything away from the Titans because they played a good game, but I don't think the Steelers are all that good this year.
  11. It's more about liking the As than hating Detroit. That said while the Tigers are the Detroit team I'm most indifferent about, it's still a Detroit team and I have to remind myself these are also Lions, Wings and Pistons fans.
  12. So I'm thinking about this whole "playoffs are a crapshoot" theory. If the Cardinals win today or tomorrow they will be 7-1 in their last 8 playoff series with teams that finished a combined 352-296 (which is average record of 88-74). Does this help prove the playoffs are a crapshoot theory or disprove it? Are the Cardinals just on an incredibly lucky streak or have they somehow discovered (accidentally or not) a formula to win consistently in the playoffs?
  13. I suspected we'd see a team come back from down 0-2 in this year's LDS because of the 2-3 format, but I definitely didn't expect it a team that lost their first 2 games at home and then won 3 on the road.
  14. That can't be correct. The Giants went to the World Series under Baker (i.e., won two playoff series clinching games in the NLDS and NLCS) and the Cubs won one playoff series in 2003. Maybe it's elimination games (Games 5 and 7)? I doubt he's managed in 11 different elimination games. I think he's only been in the playoffs 6 times total (3 with the Giants, 1 with the Cubs, 2 with the Reds)
  15. Also, I think its really dumb that the MLB would schedule a game 5 to start at noon on a weekday. What kind of crap is that? You have 2 game 4's that can go in that spot, or just play them at the same time. I know the networks wouldnt be thrilled, but screw that. Baseball fans have to work sometimes, even ones in Cincinnati and San Francisco.
  16. Yay! I would be looking forward to tomorrow but the Cardinals making the NLCS will ruin my mood for the 2 evening games.
  17. Amazing Thank God that douchebag Valverde blows a save in a big spot.
  18. When you finish at .500 or better 5 of the last 7 years and have no playoff appearances to show for it, you have to think that playing 18 games a year against each of the Yankees, Red Sox and Rays has something to do with it. In another division with weaker teams to beat up on, its possible they would have made multiple playoff appearances over that time. For example, in 2010, the Jays finished 85-77, which was only good enough for 4th place in the AL East. They managed to go a combined 24-30 against the Red Sox, Yankees, and Rays. Maybe they go 30-24 against the top 3 teams if they were in the AL Central. Now they are right in the Wild Card race and not playing rookies all September. There's a lot more to it I'm sure but that is the most obvious thing I can think of.
  19. I am looking at Stephen Drew's career playoff numbers...he's played 3 postseason series, and in 2 of them his OPS was .627 and .580. Of course the other series was against the Cubs where he had a .500/.500/1.143/1.643 OPS with a 2B, 3B and 2 HRs in 14 AB.
  20. Looks like the 3rd base coach was waving him to 3rd which is terrible, but Drew could see the throw before he ran too far off 2nd, he should have recognized it and went back.
  21. That is a horrible gaffe. Why risk getting thrown out at 3rd? You would have been on 2nd base with no outs and put a lot of pressure on the Tigers to get out of it. Instead its bases empty and the Tigers get a huge out.
  22. I don't get it Better stated: "Since 1900, the 2012 Orioles are the only team to go a full season without a walk-off loss." well, until now Ahhh ok that makes a lot more sense. I guess that's what happens when a team wins almost every 1 run game they play in.
  23. So far every series is going against my rooting interests except the Reds and Giants, which was looking bad a couple of days ago. Yankees-Tigers and Reds-Cardinals was the worst LCS I could imagine. Baseball is the only sport that actively taunts me as a Cubs fan almost every single year.
