    lol thanks. I'll be in Florida by this time tomorrow though so I probably won't be as eager to watch. I trust NSBB will provide quality unbiased feedback based on the discussion since the move was made official.

    The Bills and Chargers are 2 of the 3 teams Lovie interviewed for, and now they both have coaches. The Eagles are potentially still an option for him, but I think they narrowed their search down to Wisenhunt and another dude who isnt Lovie. Will be interesting to see what happens to Lovie if he doesn't get a head coaching gig.

    Obviously you want balance but its clearly becoming an offensive league. The Packers went 15-1 last year and had the worst defense in the league. All 8 teams that played last weekend scored at least 30 points I believe. Defense is still important and there are teams that still succeed with great defenses, the Bears D dragged a pathetic offense to 10-6 just last year. But if we were going to lean one way over another, I would prefer it to be towards offense at this point.

    If Marinelli stays, he'll have total autonomy of the defense. Even though he's been DC the past number of years, its always been Lovie's defense. I'd like to think Marinelli would like that opportunity. Its been Lovie's defense but Marinelli comes from the Dungy tree and I believe ran a heavy Cover 2 defense in Detroit. I get what you are saying about Lovie being very hands on defensively but Marinelli was calling the plays as far as I could tell. I don't think it would be a huge difference especially given the fact that he's been running Lovie's D the last 2 years and the players on D will almost certainly be very similar next year and the defense was among the leagues best last year. I really don't like that Toub might be moving on too. I would hope to keep the units that have worked well over the last several years as similar as we can, at least as it pertains to the coaching staff. Probably wont happen though.

    I was listening to an interview with a Montreal sports reporter on the Score yesterday and the guy said that Trestman is completely hands off on defense. Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Hopefully we can retain Marinelli to keep some consistency if we hire him.

    58 points allowed sets the regular season franchise record for fewest points in a game I believe, besting last years 59 allowed against Orlando. Still can't touch the playoff franchise mark of 54 allowed in Game 3 of the 98 Finals.

    I just read the same thing. So how does this work exactly? What happens if the pitcher makes a move to third but doesn't throw the ball, then the runner takes a huge secondary lead and gets caught up between first and second base and runs back to first? The pitcher just has to stand and watch him? I'm sure it's a judgement call like all balks are. If there's an obvious lag between the fake to third and the throw back to first it won't be called. Though I'm sure if there's a way for a baserunner to exploit the rule we will find out quickly.

    yes having a head coach in place right now is super important for...umm watching the other playoff games?

    Well Atlanta will still be at home, the 49ers will be traveling almost as far as Seattle did (not sure if they have the late or early game), albeit not 2 weeks in a row. Seattle just destroyed SF less than a month ago...what you mentioned doesn't make up a huge 8.5 point gap between last weeks line and this weeks in my mind. I think it has more to do with SF a) being a more national team with more bettors, and b) beating GB, another national team, soundly the previous week. Still seems like an high line though overall.

    And yes should have beaten Seattle, and could have beaten Houston and at least one of the games against GB, possibly both. But we got killed by SF and that's exactly who would have waxed us again had GB won that last game.
