  1. I just don't like it... when one of our players gets robbed of a hit or something and he shows excitement about it, it pisses me off. I think there's a very slight tone difference in his voice. He gets excited but more of a 'wow what a great play' excited than a 'this benefits the Cubs' excited. I could be insane though. There are definitely broadcasters that get more excited for the opponent's big plays (cant think of a specific example but I've heard them), and then on the other side of the equation there's Hawk going mute for minutes on end whenever the White Sox give up a run.
  2. This made me laugh because a) I totally know the voice you are referring to and b) Pat seems so wholesome its hilarious to think of him taking pleasure in losing
  3. James Russell up next in the closer roulette?
  4. It's a weekend, so ticket prices are way high, right? Only 25,400 paid attendance yesterday...interested to see what today's is.
  5. Interesting. So are they going to have to rebuild the bleachers again after just doing it 5 years ago? I'm guessing if they are getting rid of the sidewalk and one lane on Waveland they will get approval to shut down the street before, during and after games.
  6. Hey he got a hit yesterday
  7. Jason Marquis is still playing baseball?
  8. this. Cubs should be 5-4 right now. Shame. Could be not should be. 5-1 lead in the 8th in Atlanta 5-0 lead at home on a damp day today Regardless of how much of a talent disparity there is, major league teams SHOULD win these games. And there will be games where we have no business winning this year.
  9. Wish we could have seen Rose and Nate on the court at the same time.
  10. I leave for an hour and it goes from 5-0 to 5-7 yeesh
  11. Yeah the forecast has cleared up for this afternoon.
  12. *looks out the window*. Where is that rain? Guess its about an hour away. Freezing wind chills notwithstanding we could have gotten in 6 innings tonight.
  13. With the season winding down and the Hawks looking like they are going to be the 1 seed, or 2 seed at worst, who does everyone want to see in the 1st round? If the season ended today, the Hawks would be playing the Wings in the first round. Historical rivalry juju notwithstanding, I think they would be who I'd want to see. Detroit has been inconsistent, and while the first 2 games against them were decided in OT/SO, I feel like the Hawks outplayed them in all 3 games. Other possible opponents include: 6. St. Louis (46 points in 38 games. Hawks 2-0-1) - Have been a bit of a disappointment but still very good team, would prefer not to play them. 7. Minnesota (46 points in 39 games. Hawks 2-0-1) - I'd be fine playing them, but they do have a lot of talent. 8. Detroit (43 points in 39 games. Hawks 3-0-0) 9. Dallas (41 points in 39 games. Hawks 2-0-0) - I'd be ok with playing them. 10. Columbus (41 points in 40 games. Hawks 4-0-0) - Hawks played 4 close games against them, they got better at the deadline, we'd win but I think it would be a tough series. 11. Phoenix (40 points in 39 games. Hawks 2-0-0) - Probably not, just because I'm scared Smith would stand on his head all series again. 12. Edmonton (39 points in 39 games. Hawks 1-1-0) - Would rather not, they've had some great games against us the last 2 years although our depth and offensive fire power would win us the series. Put me down for Detroit, Dallas, or Minnesota in that order. Either way, Hawks are 16-1-2 against potential 1st round opponents
  14. well...at least we might skip a Feldman start
  15. That's what I was thinking when I started this thread. I haven't forgotten UMFan's threads that derailed Prior and Wood's careers. If I ever come across Prior in person, I'm convinced he's going to punch me in the face. you misspelled treymon you didn't the first time

  17. So umm Rip Hamilton is playing tonight.
  18. We will see. Beilein has taken less talented Michigan teams to the tourney. I guess I shouldn't say anything with certainty since they'd be losing almost the entire core team from this year but I believe in Beilein as a coach and Michigan certainly wouldn't be short on talent.
  19. According to weather.com there is a 0% chance of rain from now until 8 then just 30-40% chance of isolated/scattered storms through when the game would get done. So tonight doesn't looks like it's in much danger of getting canceled/PPD. Yeah the weather report looked a lot differently this morning, I think.
  20. he expects it, but i don't i don't think I agree with that....even if all 4 left, UM has three 4 star prospects coming into to replace Burke, Hardaway and Robinson. Personally I don't think McGary leaves. Robinson shouldn't leave but he will. McGary probably won't leave, but the other 3 seem to be as good as gone. And I don't care how many stars a player has, he's not going to come in and come close to replicating what Trey Burke did this year... I think Michigan will be a top 25 team again next year, but let's get real, Trey Burke was so vital to this team and they won't be the same next year. Yeah I'm not saying they are going to be back in the National Championship game next year, just that I think they will be a top 25 team.

  22. The Hawks have 62 points in 38 games. In 03-04 (last pre-lockout year) and 05-06 (first post-lockout year) the Hawks averaged 62 points in 82 game seasons. Also the Hawks have 29 wins this year. In the 9 seasons between 1997-1998 and 2006-2007, the Hawks averaged 29.8 wins per season. I realize that the post lockout changes have led to more wins overall (instead of ties) but that's still nuts.
