  1. Meh...$8.5 mil for a projected 1.6 WAR this season.
  2. id love it if Cespedes just took 10 bunts here since he's already in the finals.
  3. So umm...during the season I'm pretty sure DRose said he needed to be 110% to play.
  4. He'll always be the 2nd best Henry Rodriguez in Cubs history.
  5. Does Tunney get elected by the voters, or does he get picked by the Mayor? Just wondering, don't know how the politics do in Chicago. If he is voted by the voters, then do what I would do. Vote him out in the next election. It's voting but he has pretty strong support in the Ward despite this. I believe his ward also covers Boystown and he is the first openly gay alderman. Edit: nevermind the alderman of the 46th ward is also gay
  6. Does anyone know if there is going to be a 2013 Stanley Cup champions DVD? I have been looking on Amazon and Google but havent seen any news about it. I swear right after the cup in 2010 there was at least an announcement of the upcoming DVD.
  7. Pirri and Smith in also. Well yeah I just meant from outside the org
  8. So basically Frolik, Bolland and Emery out, Khabi in
  9. i prefer to think of them living like cletus the slack jawed yokel. makes any measure of sporting success seem insignificant. Yes, the key is to not respect them as human beings. To the point where their dominance in baseball doesn't bother you because they are inferior to you in every other way.
  10. About 5-10% of my excitement for the return of football is the return of the Jay Cutler Show
  11. 3 of them are at night. Saturday is a 6pm Fox game. He just meant the weekend games. yeah sorry i meant just friday-sunday.
  12. I can guarantee you the Cubs have never had a weekend home series where none of the games starts before 3PM and 2 of the games are at night.
  13. The goal is the same size though the depth of the net *might* be different. They've discussed making the NHL net 6" shallower to give more room to play behind it. European rinks look huge in comparison to what we're used to seeing NHL teams play on. I believe the net depth proposal you are talking about was approved last month by the league.
  14. Yeah and those people (assuming they haven't been renting for 25 years) have likely seen their houses value triple over the time they've owned the house, largely due to the neighborhood built up because of the giant ballpark.
  15. I really need to stop reading the things that Tom Tunney is saying, it's breaking my brain. OMG the lights from the 100 year old ballpark that has had lights for 25 years is bothering me at the house that I moved into 2 years ago. How come nobody told me that this stupid ballpark would need lights to play baseball at night?
  16. Sounds like the Cubs got dominated there, no?
  17. So much for Samardzija. This begins the death spiral for him. Remember when Rizzo, Castro and Shark were the core of the next great Cubs team? And now they're a bunch of washed up hacks. What a joke. May as well call them Choi, Patterson, and Hill. I am of course being facetious and give you the benefit of the doubt that you are as well. Nope, we need to trade them all now while they still have value. Maybe get some International Bonus money for the lot of em
  18. So much for Samardzija. This begins the death spiral for him. Remember when Rizzo, Castro and Shark were the core of the next great Cubs team?
  19. So much for that positive run differential eh?
  20. I last heard he was expected to miss the entire season and would possibly retire. Instead he's pitching in July rehab games.
  21. They sign 2014 contracts actually. Unless they're older, like Mejia. They may get a taste of EXST over the offseason and its possible if they're advanced enough, they could start out in Arizona. Highly doubtful though. More than one year in the Dominican League for those 2 would be a big disappointment. FWIW, Jimenez and Torres will both show up on BA's top 30. Likely in the late teens to mid 20 range. Parks said he'll consider both for his Cubs top 15. Generally a couple of the top 16-year olds start off in the complex leagues the year after they sign (for example, Baretto is in the GCL this year), but I feel like the Cubs under Theo seem are willing to go slower. Off the top of my head, Larry Suarez, Carlos Zambrano and Felix Pie are the only 16-year olds who signed and jumped to the AZL in their first year in the Cubs system. ETA: Forgot Felix Pie. thanks guys
  22. Someone with more knowledge please enlighten me. Where do the 16 year old international signees go from here? My assumption would be they would probably spend 2 years in the Dominican Academy before going over to AZL/rest of the minors? How long until they are considered actual prospects who slot in somewhere in a team's system ranking lists?
  23. (Stealing from Deadspin) He's never going to win the Cup now.
