So was Cedric Benson at Texas, or Curtis Enis at Penn State, or Darren McFadden at Arkansas, Cadillac Williams, Ronnie Brown, etc. But I do agree he needs more than 18 games to be considered a bust.
In English are you trying to say: This team is still trying and that is a credit to Sveum? I'm shocked that a roster filled with marginal MLB quality players is still playing hard and trying to win. Sorry I don't give Sveum any credit for that. Pretty much every player on that roster is playing for something in the future.
Preseason anything blows except maybe the 3rd NFL preseason game. But for pretty much every sport I get excited about the first game for like 10 minutes and then flip to something else. It still boggles my mind that the Hawks are back on the ice. It really feels like a month ago when the Hawks won the Cup. We pretty much just went through the shortest offseason any Big 4 team could ever go through with the postseason extended to the last few days of June, and starting up again in early September.
First preseason game is tonight at the UC against Intraconference rivals Detroit, who we last saw on the same ice shaking hands with the Hawks in defeat. Kind of sucks but this one won't be televised, and probably not broadcast on the radio due to tonight's exciting Cubs-Brewers game.
I don't disagree, but the AFC is somehow 5-1 against the NFC in head to head this year. The one NFC win is the Bears over the Bengals. Chiefs over Cowboys Chargers over Eagles Broncos over Giants Jets over Buccaneers Bills over Panthers
I think this will be a tough one mostly because their season is basically on the line here and its at home. The short week for the Steelers will be an advantage though of course.
I don't know if this means anything either way but wanted to point out that during the "trying" portion on the season (aka pre-Trade Deadline), the Cubs have gone 92-117 the last 2 years (.441 winning% - 71-91 projected) and during the post-sell off portion of the 2 seasons, the Cubs have gone 32-71 (.311 winning% - 50-112 projected).
The preseason opened today with much fanfare as the Panthers and Predators are in the process of a doubleheader in South Florida. Look at the excitement just before puck drop: http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/190d2c5g6x5f6jpg/ku-bigpic.jpg Anyways, here's to a good 2013-2014 season and a repeat Stanley Cup winner!
