  1. YEAH BUT THEY DIDNT MAKE IT IN 2003 SO SUCK IT DEADBIRDS
  2. I'd probably try to unload some of their bad contracts too, possibly CJ Wilson and/or Howie Kendrick.
  3. I think I hate the Cardinals more than the White Sox, Packers, Red Wings, Knicks and Ohio State combined.
  4. AND there's a Yee Haw marathon on tonight. Those lucky bastards.
  5. Could have been a much cooler LCS round. Thanks Pirates, Rays and probably A's for ruining it.
  6. I know Bochy was a big name that was considered. Others from an old ESPN article: http://a.espncdn.com/mlb/news/2002/1015/1446432.html
  7. thats awesome
  8. FO actually bumps up the Bears after Week 5, as they are now 7th in the NFL in DVOA (15.3%), up from 11th. The offense especially shoots up, from 19th to 10th. Defense and Special Teams are both 15th, down and up from last week respectively.
  9. He died yesterday at age 92. Lennie Merullo, age 96, is the last living person to play for the Cubs in a World Series.
  10. Does anyone else wonder why baseball teams celebrate seemingly much more than every other sport? I have no problem with it as celebrating is awesome, but its weird when you compare a baseball team making the playoffs or win an early round series to a football team doing the same. Picture heavy section of post: Again, I'm not saying this is bad, I'm just curious as to why baseball teams seem to have more of a wild celebration culture.
  11. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9792734/nfl-play-three-games-london-2014 NFL to play 3 games in London next year. The home teams will be Oakland, Jacksonville and Atlanta. Bears are scheduled to play Atlanta on the road next year so theres a 12.5% chance of a game in London again which would be an awesome break for the Bears given how dominant Atlanta has been at home until recently.
  12. That is the highest open ever. I have to imagine that the Packers and Patriots of a few years back had some pretty big lines, for recent references. The 07 Patriots had lines approaching -20 a couple times, might have had one that peeked just over that. I think Pats Eagles was at 24 by gametime

  14. Where is Amobi Okoye these days?
  15. Yeah it's looking like SF/Seattle loser and then whoever finishes better between the Lions and Bears with the Lions currently holding the tiebreaker. You're conceding to GB already? Smh. Wins at home against the Redskins and a Calvin-less Lions have not rendered me afraid of them... yet. Of course if we draw off the past couple years, it's a bit different feeling. That said, we ARE winning one of our two games with them this year. Hahaha, its funny, I didn't consciously concede the divison to GB, I'm just used to assuming they are in first place and winning the division so I relexively put them there. Yeah I guess they could continue to struggle, especially with their latest round of injuries
  16. Yeah it's looking like SF/Seattle loser and then whoever finishes better between the Lions and Bears with the Lions currently holding the tiebreaker. Of course it's still really early and teams like the Redskins (ok maybe not), Vikings, Falcons, Eagles and heck even the Rams or Cardinals could play themselves back into a spot.
  17. Please for the love of God end this series McCutchen
  18. There we go Alvarez.
  19. http://www.nbcchicago.com/blogs/madhouse-enforcer/Redskins-Rep-Asks-Why-Blackhawks-Name-Isnt-Being-Challenged-226762401.html [expletive] that.
  20. Nice to see they have finally been able to develop some pitching..... I think its been a constant focus of their organization since their pitchers tend to die suddenly.
  21. WACHA IS PITCHING A NO HITTER!!! WACHA IS PITCHING A NO HITTER!!! WACHA IS PITCHING A NO HITTER!!! WACHA IS PITCHING A NO HITTER!!! WACHA IS PITCHING A NO HITTER!!!
  22. It's hard to explain what that felt like in Game 1. Crowd was pretty amped. Everyone around me was loud. I had a single seat and was by myself so I was chatting with this father and son next to me the whole game. Then that Grand Slam happened. It just sucked the life out of everyone. The rowdiest super fan ever couldnt have brought that crowd back to life. The father and son stopped talking and eventually left in the 7th or 8th, not having said a word to me since the Grand Slam. Suddenly it felt like a late September game circa 2006, not a NLDS game.
  23. From what I understood, his drop in play directly was mostly tied his his decrease in shooting %, especially mid range shooting %. His shooting percentage likely dropped because he was taking more contested jumpers and more or less having to take more of a lead scorer role in the offense, especially when Noah and/or Deng would be out.
  24. I have no idea and it sounds stupid but maybe because he'd rather have his best pitcher pitching at home, in a pitcher's park at night (where pitchers tend to fare better at Dodger Stadium)? I know my explanation doesn't make sense, I was just trying to think of some way that it would even begin to be justified. If the Pirates wrap up the other NLDS today, and the Dodgers win tonight, Kershaw wouldn't be available on regular rest until probably game 3, meaning he'd start game 3 and 7 instead of 1, 4 and 7. Yeah doesn't make sense.
