  1. The funny thing is I was thinking that the Cubs might actually go an entire game without giving up a HR. Nope, the march to the record continues
  2. Phillies lost, DBacks tied in the 10th, Padres down 1-0
  3. Wish PCA managed to come through, not that its even in the top 3 reasons we're going to extras but that was killer
  4. 2 run lead, 2 outs, no one on, 0-2 count and they blow it
  5. Cubs selling out for a HR knowing full well that if they hit a solo HR the Brewers will just have an IF single, boop hit and 2 out double to win 3-2.
  6. I know they’re still in a race for the bye but you’d think at this point they’d want to start preparing for the playoffs instead of treating every Cubs game like the World Series.
  7. At least Miz is out. And the Bullpen of Doom (different than the Cubs bullpen of doom) is in
  8. Good news is we have both our challenges left and will probably still have in the 9th
  9. Sure don’t challenge the 3-0 ball that is called a strike and then strike out
  10. I was just about to say Miz needs to get over 90 pitches otherwise he’s going to the 7th. And then the next pitch Nico hits into a double play at 86 pitches FFS
  11. Perfect, need 4.2 IP from the pen tonight meanwhile Mis might be able to go 2 more.
  12. Yeah I mean don’t get me wrong I’m a football fan too, almost at the same level. But I’ve always had slightly more affinity for college basketball. There’s dozens of us
  13. I’m not saying I want Miz to need TJS at all but it’s crazy how this dude throws 102+ MPH consistently and no issues while our most promising pitchers: Steele hasn’t pitched in almost 2 seasons due to TJS Horton is out all this year and part of next year with his second TJS Brown has a mysterious neck injury that has taken him out 70% of the last 2 years Not fair I tell ya
  14. Figured there’s an 87% chance the brewers scored after getting a weak contact IF single with 2 outs and no one on. Thats how it always starts
  15. I was going to point out that 3 years ago the World Series was contested by 2 terrible pitching staffs, but the Rangers and Diamondbacks each had 10+ more pitching fWAR than this year's Cubs
  16. I feel like the past 2 days people have been trying to bait me into commenting on and defending whatever the hell that was but the fact is I don’t really care what happened, I have no idea if it was a fix or they legitimately believed there was a second left. I honestly just dont want to ever think about that game or anything surrounding it again. At this point I’m just sick of being dragged into the latest Michigan controversy. I got my basketball title which is what I’ve wanted more than anything since the first time I decided to root for Michigan, so whatever.
  17. No I just gamed this out, the magic number is 11, and that incorporates the fact that either the Padres or Diamondbacks are guaranteed to lose 2 times. Like if the Cubs go 10-7, the magic number will be 1 because the Padres and DBacks can both still win 93 games even accounting for one of them losing 2 games, but they'd have to go undefeated in all games against other teams, and neither team can sweep the other in that final 3 game series.
  18. Maybe. But the 2004 Cubs still went 8-9 in their last 17 games. If we do that we're almost certainly in the playoffs.
  19. Sure but that's a scenario that requires no help, meaning both the Padres and Diamondbacks could win every game besides the 3 they play against each other and still not pass the Cubs. At 10-7, one of the teams would have to go undefeated outside of their 3 game series at the end of the year. At 9-8, they are only afforded 1 loss. etc etc. I mean I get it, I was lightly banging the "Cubs could still collapse" drum last week but that 3 game winning streak plus some time to think logically about it talked some sense into me. It would take a complete 2004 style ending and/or a 2007 Rockies style finish from 2 different teams to miss it.
  20. To add to this, the Cubs magic number is 11 to make the playoffs with 17 to go. 11-6 clinches it without any help.
