  1. Lmao beck was like the most stress inducing closer ever. Either him or Sweaty Joe
  2. Ok, only use Castro for PHing with the game on the line.
  3. Weird that he's pulled in the middle of an inning with 102 pitches and cruising
  4. A funny game would be to ignore everyone on the forum except the usual game thread suspects, then not watch any Cubs game for a week, then read all of the game threads and guess the Cubs record in those games.
  5. No one goes by the silly "1990 is actually the last year of the 80s" technicality
  6. Don't worry guys if denofria can't get them home David ross is up against a righty
  7. Honestly as long as the Cubs are within 3-4 of a playoff spot come Sept 1, I'm really not going to get all that worked up on a day to day basis. I must have grown up because I was leading the irrational brigade in years past
  8. Can someone describe what happened?
  9. This is a month old, but USA Today's power rankings have the Bears at 32nd overall. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/nfl/rankings/ I can understand thinking the Bears are going to be bad, but there is too much talent and too good of coaching to be the worst team in the league, that's ridiculous. I can see the Bears being somewhere between the 10th and 25th best team in football.
  10. 1 ahead of SF (assuming they hold on). Who the [expletive] cares about Pittsburgh? I'll worry about them in September if we are close in the standings. Absolutely no need to worry about this at all in June
  11. Nah Maddon will PH Lester for Schwarber
  12. David Ross has 15(16 now) plate appearances against LHP this year, we can comfortably ignore that. Last year he hit .228/.318/.491 against them and has a career OPS against LHP of about .750. This is far better than what we can expect from Coghlan, even more so when the pitcher himself has a huge platoon split. ok fine then don't give him 5x more PA against RHP than LHP. Stop this silly personal catcher crap against RHP.
  13. You can't be serious He's a backup catcher that hits LHP fine and plays good defense. I wish he wouldn't be Lester's personal caddy, but that's not up to him. In that situation(Coghlan due up, LHP on the mound, Ross has to enter the game next inning, no other RH bench options) he is 110% the right guy to be in the batter's box. Didn't someone just post he's hitting .154 against lefties? There's more to look at than BA and I'm too lazy to look it up but that's certainly not a good start. When TT posts something I don't agree with I usually question my thinking but I don't understand this time. I mean Id rather him be our backup catcher than Koyie Hill but that's not saying much. And I don't understand the need for him to start 2 games a week Edit: ok sample size on the stats vs lhp
  14. What's not to love about a .185 hitter? His OPS+ is 58 so he's over half as good as the average hitter. Woo hoo ross didn't have to come in. If the choice is let Montero run and stay in the game or let Ross bat in a crucial spot, I go the former and it's not even close
  15. Do we not think Alcantara can be more effective than stupid Baxter? Is there something I'm missing here?
  16. Franconia owning Maddon here. He somehow removed Montero, Coghlan and Denofria from the game in exchange for Herrera, Ross and Baxter, 3 of the worst players in baseball.
  17. id almost rather have Jon Lester bat than Ross, mostly because of gamblers fallacy.
  18. Harper just has a mild hamstring strain just as everyone was freaking out about him leaving the game
  19. I don't know why we're following the Pirates inning by inning. Actually I don't know why we're following anyone inning by inning in June
  20. Pathetic? Chelios, Belfour and Savard. Then a couple guys that played one season with them at end of their careers, Coffey and Gilmour. Name last baseball team to have 5 players inducted in the span of 15 years. That just seems very quick - shouldn't induct so many people - takes away from the badge. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yes like pointed out claiming Coffey and Gilmour as Blackhawks HOFers is like claiming Robert Parish is a Bulls HOFer
