This is misleading. When judging possession stats, most people use a "close" score situation. That's when the game is within a goal through the first two periods or tied in the third. Adjusting for that criteria has Tampa with more Corsi events in two of the three games. It's not a surprise Chicago has more total shot attempts, they've been trailing for the majority of the series. Score effects are very real and pronounced. There hasn't been a 2 goal lead the entire series, so the entire first 2 periods of each game count. In the third periods, the Hawks have been tied for around 24 minutes (just going from my head...about 2 minutes in game 1, 5 minutes in game 2 and 17 minutes in gmae 3) so we're looking at just over 7/9 periods within the close score situation, or just about exactly 80% of the series. But I haven't found situational Corsi stats so if you are saying that's correct then it is. That said, I would be willing to bet that its close to 50-50 in the 2 games Tampa had the advantage.
