  1. La Fin Du Monde You are going to die a painful death from dehydration
  2. Gah I hate having 3 lefties in a row facing a lefty
  3. Damn. At least we turned the lineup over
  4. Hit it so hard Montero couldn't score from 2nd
  5. Ok one of you three guys due up tie this bitch up so I don't have to worry about the very slight chance the rain causes the game to be called.
  6. damn Schwarbs is the real deal. Dude seems to do even better in big situations
  7. Good news is we have 3 games against the Giants next week so we can extend our lead again
  8. 2-0 Giants now in the 7th. Might need a comeback so that we don't see our lead shrink to 3
  9. Ok who wants to predict the result of Schwarbers AB?
  10. Giants up 1-0.
  11. Meh, Cards did the same thing the inning before and didn't get him in either. He was referring to the Cardinals pitchers historically high strand rate
  12. I just said this in another thread but it bears repeating Remember those smug Red Sox fans who said "who cares if we lost Theo, we have Ben Cherrington" Also interesting with McLeod getting lots of interest as a potential GM, I wonder if Theo reaches out and gauges his interest in an Assistant GM position
  13. Remember all those smug Red Sox fans who said "who cares that Theo left we have Ben Cherrington"? Red Sox hire Dombrowski and Cherrington is stepping down
  14. So umm Hendricks the 3rd starter in a playoff series?
  15. So basically we have 2 good starters and then we pray we get 2 decent starts out of the next 3
  16. this guy didn't read I read what you wrote in the title, and then didn't understand why Palmeiro didn't count. So I posted that. if he counts for having one halfway decent season as a regular, then rizzo and russell count as home grown. hell, theriot had better seasons as a cub. I was going to argue that Palmeiro played in an all star game representing the Cubs, but his numbers that season look mediocre, at least for an all star.
  17. The difference possibly being that the Cubs and Devil Rays (feels so retro typing that out) had agreed to the terms of the trade and it was simply between him wanting to stay with Rays or go to Cubs. In terms of the reports out there, it doesn't seem like the Phillies narrowed down to a single team at this point but its possible. I felt bad for McGriff...he debated for a long time (over 3 weeks) whether to come here or stay at home, finally the allure of chasing a title was too much and he accepted the trade. The Cubs went 11-9 during the time he debated (and actually gained 1.5 games in the standings) and he hit as advertised but the Cubs went just 26-30 after he came over and missed the playoffs, then was stuck with the Cubs in 2002 when they lost 97 games. Whoops
