  1. I keep excitedly waiting for the Cubs to give the media a tour of the new clubhouse so we can see some pictures.
  2. He should get more but unless the NHL deems this to be particularly brutal, I think the playoffs coming up plays a role in the length of the suspension. Either way, idiotic move by Keith. Honestly, other than the result of the victim, is this much different then Marty McSorley's slash that I believe got him arrested? Yes, it was much different. Much much different. Come on. They both lookeed like Intentional slashes to the head with intent to injure. In McSorley's case, the guy collapsed and hit his head on the ground which is where the main injury occured. Keith's hit did not strike Coyle's head as squarely, thus less severe injury. I guess you could say the difference is that McSorley chased his guy down to slash him in the head whereas Keith slashed Coyle while attempting to get back up after a trip. Both were intentional though.
  3. He got 5 for elbowing a Sedin. Coyle returned to the game so that might reduce his sentence but My first thought was 5 games. He should get more but unless the NHL deems this to be particularly brutal, I think the playoffs coming up plays a role in the length of the suspension. Either way, idiotic move by Keith. Honestly, other than the result of the victim, is this much different then Marty McSorley's slash that I believe got him arrested?
  4. They made it sound on the Score this morning that he might not even be back by the time the playoffs start Yeah Q has been saying things like "he could be back by the start of the playoffs". Nothing definite. Could we win a cup with Darling and a deep defensive group? Yes. With 1.5 solid pairings? No way.
  5. Jake looks better Schwarbomb off Sonny Gray
  6. Apparently Crawford has vertigo. That doesn't sound good.
  7. Seems like Candelario got a nice boost due to his spring at least.
  8. [tweet]https://twitter.com/CarrieMuskat/status/714886913908322304[/tweet] [tweet]https://twitter.com/CarrieMuskat/status/714887350527000576[/tweet] Cubs Opening Day Roster:
  9. lmao I almost think this puts the Hawks in a bad position. It doesn't clear his name at all, but the punish won't be all that severe, so the Hawks will have to welcome him back at some point I would think.
  10. Suprisingly still in play although fairly unlikely. They lost last night so that hurts. I cannot see the Kings letting that pick fall into our hands.
  11. Seriously.... you are a mod, delete this and force him to make a new thread with a better title. For the sake of keeping the discussion alive, does this mean Baez is good to go? That would make the bench LaStella, Ross, Soler and Baez, assuming they are going with 8 relievers. If they go with 7, that opens up a spot for either Murton or Szczur. Edit: nevermind, I forgot Murton was cut already.
  12. He also had a diving catch to end the game and preserve the tie
  13. MURT HURT today
  14. Is it a situation where not qualifying might be the best thing long term, just to force the US to make changes? I just don't see how staying completely out of the international spotlight for 4+ years could be considered a good thing for the US even if it means significant changes.
  15. So if the US loses tomorrow, we aren't officially eliminated, but it becomes an almost certainty right? Especially because Guatamala and T+T still play each other and would almost certainly play to a 0-0 draw if it meant knocking the US out and both advancing. If that happens, can you imagine that the USMNT wouldn't have a truly competitive match until 2020? I mean I know Copa and the Gold Cup are competitive but not to the degree that the World Cup is. Guess we'd have a chance to see how good Klinsmann's youth program is, assuming they don't fire him.
  16. So every just eyeballing the entries so far, every single person has Schwarbs, and just about everyone has Heyward, and over half have Bryant and Russell
  17. seems like a strange move for him Doesn't seem that strange to me. He hasn't coached anywhere in 6 years, and the last time he was a relevant coach was probably 16 years ago when he coached the Jail Blazers. In his career he has made it to the NBA Finals once, 25 years ago as the Lakers head coach. I'm not saying he's a terrible coach, just a middling one and one that has been out of the spotlight for the better part of a decade. No one is giving him an NBA or power conference job, he probably has too much of an ego after 17 seasons as a head coach to take an assistant job (and if he was open to it he would have taken one in the period between getting fired by the Clippers and now). If he wants to get back into coaching, becoming a head coach at a lightly regarded low-major school seems like the most appealing option. Actually seems almost like Larry Brown taking the SMU job, except Larry Brown is a more accomplished coach and one with significant college experience with Kansas in the 80's.
  18. Unless you can convince Montero or Ross to play 1B for the first time in their careers. But I guess you said realistic.
  19. Guys I don't want to be irrationally negative here but I don't think the Bulls are going to win a championship this year.
  20. Looking like an entire half of the bracket will be ACC teams. Didn't we just have an ACC Tournament?
  21. Time to give someone else a chance in goal. Been watching Howard at Everton this year and he's just not the same guy
  22. Jesus christ
  23. Completely random rant but have you ever noticed that whenever there's a discussion on the internet about the Cubs championship drought, there will always be a Red Sox fan that chimes in to remind everyone that they were once cursed too. It's almost like they want that as part of their identity and can't stand that someone else has a more futile run than they have.
  24. I always figured Szczur was much more likely to go north than Murton although I question that now that I go to his page and see he had a negative dWAR last year.
