  1. Sure, if a player becomes a completely different player they might be a different player. and many former stars go that direction to prolong their careers. I mean maybe the dude was just done with basketball and that's fine but for someone that lived and breathed basketball his entire life, if he still wanted to play he could be a very effective 6th man type or even 3rd option type on a contender. Not necessarily a critique of Kobe, just an observation after watching him last night.
  2. Yes, I cannot think of a more Kobe way to go out. He was true to himself until the end. It also makes me realize that, although physically he is beaten up, he could probably milk out a couple of years as a dangerous role player on a contender and win that 6th title if he could a) play on another team other than the Lakers and b) accept not being the alpha dog or at least alpha dog 1a. But I can not see Kobe ever doing that.
  3. exactly, i'm almost so low stressed about these playoffs that I feel guilty about it. I'm sure if/when the Hawks advance to the WCF my stress levels would shoot way up.
  4. yesssss I was wondering if they were going to keep doing this after they actually started winning a few games.
  5. Found it. December 26, 1982. Detroit was up 21-6 in the 3rd and Tampa came back to win 23-21. Mine was this: Chicago Bears 35 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers 42 Sunday, October 8, 1989 Sat in Vince Tobin's seats, right behind Steve McMichael's wife. Seeing the Bucs in their first live NFL game must be a theme. My first game: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/199309260chi.htm A bunch of drunk fans were chanting Harbaugh's name throughout. Little did I know, 23 years later he'd still be very relevant in my sports world.
  6. this is what I love about being a Blackhawks fan. Struggling in the regular season is barely worth discussion. Falling down a game in a series, a minor stumbling block. Falling two games down in a series, not too worried.
  7. Absolutely. With not much hope of getting above the middle. Teams ranked in order of championship likelihood: Blackhawks Cubs White Sox Bears Bulls Could maybe switch the Sox and Bears. Bulls are going to be crap for a long time. I'd definitely swap White Sox with Bears simply because they have to compete for the same championship the Cubs are competing for.
  8. What in the hell? I might not do that even if this was the Peyton Manning draft and I knew how Peyton's career was going to turn out. Well that's the silliest thing ever said. I feel like much of NSBB struggles with understanding hyperbole :)
  9. What in the hell? I might not do that even if this was the Peyton Manning draft and I knew how Peyton's career was going to turn out.
  10. Yeah well he led the league in save % this year and was pretty damn good last night. The Hawks have solved extremely difficult goalies before though.
  11. If this was the early series figuring them out game the Blues are in for a world of trouble
  12. Just a 57 pitch inning for the Reds
  13. Ladd returned to Chicago for the birth of his kid. Q says he's a game time decision tonight
  14. My god why did I decide to be an Everton supporter several years ago?
  15. Very interesting comment by Bosio on the score today. Said that in Hammel starts this year, Schwarber will come in early and go over scouting reports and game plan as if he was catching in the game in an effort to continue his development while he's out. Certainly seems like the Cubs aren't convinced his catching days are over.
  16. There is nothing better than watching Sox and Cardinals fans get all worked up over the Cubs. Nothing.
  17. You know, without a shadow of a doubt, that if it were the Cards walking at a record setting pace, Cards fans would be falling all over themselves to effusively praise them for their superior plate discipline. Yes they would be talking about they are BFIB for coaxing Matt Carpenter into a curtain call for his 4 walk performance.
  18. IIRC, it's only FOX that has an agreement for in-marketing streaming, so none of the Chicago broadcasts (CSN, WGN, ABC7, WCIU) would apply. While the Reds are on FOX, I think that means only Reds fans with FOX-OH can stream the game in their local market, not Cubs fans in Chicago. Correct me if I'm wrong though, they might have added other stations and I missed it.
  19. jfc, this stuff has to be made up right? Edit: He doesn't even have his Cardinal history right Holy crap that's awful. On top of getting the dates wrong, I think "Buck's infamous call" was also during the Red Sox-Yankees ALCS when the Sox came back from down 3-0 not a Cardinals series, though maybe he recycled the phrase. Actually I believe Jack Buck used that call when Puckett walked off in game 6 of the 91 World Series, and Joe Buck "paid homage" by using it after Freese's HR in 2011.
  20. Random rankings after 7 games: Runs Scored: 47 (2nd MLB, 2nd NL, 2nd NLC) Runs Allowed: 18 (3rd MLB, 2nd NL, 1st NLC). Nats have the least RA at 16 but have only played 5 games, Orioles have 2nd least at 17 but have only played 6 games Run differential: +29 (1st MLB by 10 runs over 2nd place team)
  21. Here's that last "strike": [tweet] [/tweet]
