  1. Just one of the 60? 40? Fake edit: fixed for Cubs
  2. This isn't a serious post is it? Well it is a game against the Rockies in mid-April. Gotta go all out to win.
  3. Dammit...what a weird game. And weird in that the Cubs haven't scored multiple runs yet.
  4. I wonder if Joe didnt end up challenging because Soler didn't actually ever touch home.
  5. Well that was terrible. I don't know why they basically left him for dead with a bad bunt
  6. Very impressed with his approach lately. He still swings through a lot of stuff but he's been a lot more selective up there.
  7. They've been terrible all week. I don't know why all the sudden we cant judge a fly ball off the bat. Maybe all the donging in the playoffs last year trained the fans to think any fly ball is going to carry out for a HR.
  8. Like one off of a lefty with two outs and guys on base? Are we expecting one big hit every 10 days? I'd prefer them more often That was 3 games ago. Was particularly memorable considering the count was 0-2, 2 outs against a lefty when the Cubs desperately needed to get at least 1 across. But yeah he's definitely slumping at the plate...that will change.
  9. They say Heyward has an XBH this year but I cannot recall for the life of me when that happened.
  10. Damn, Bryant out twice on the bases in 2 games. I'm assuming both were botched hit and runs. Yesterday was a missed sign, today Russell swung and missed at a ball. Either way Bryant has to get a better jump there.
  11. This doesn't feel like the Reds series where it seemed like every batter that came up was on the verge of walking.
  12. Lazy Dex edit: or not, sorry I'm watching while working
  13. I was thinking about that this morning. I thought for sure Ross would catch today. Also, odds on Baez getting an AB today 2:1. I'd say perhaps they want to start Ross when Jake is pitching just because Jake gives us the best chance of winning with less offense but do you really start Ross two straight games throughout the season? Maybe it doesn't matter much.
  14. Do you have a lot of buddies that have had testicular cancer or something?
  15. Wouldn't it be awesome if Javy came out and started hitting like the Javy we were hoping for when he first got called up?
  16. Each of the ESPN NFL National bloggers for the individual teams picked W/L for each of their team's games. The Bears guy, Jeff Dickerson picked the Bears at 9-7. But if you go to other team's individual predictions, collectively they have the Bears at 4-12. Basically almost everyone sees the Bears as a free win. The only 4 predicted wins were from the Washington blogger, the Tennessee blogger, the Detroit blogger (for the game in Chicago) and the SF blogger. The comments are even funnier. The Eagles blogger said about the game "The Eagles made significant changes, while the Bears did not and that's bad news for the Bears on MNF". The Giants blogger said "The last time the Bears played the Giants in NY, Cutler was rushed relentlessly and didn't answer the bell for the 2nd half. Expect a similar result this time" (nevermind that this was 6 seasons ago). Blah blah typical UM caring what other people say about his teams. I just really see next years Bears team as the team that finishes like 10-6 or 11-5 and everyone is like 'holy crap I never expected this to happen". Many of the pieces are in place: 2nd year under Fox and staff which in his history has always seen vast improvement, the previous years Bears were sneakily pretty decent and could have easily won 8-9 games, smart yet mostly unhearlded FA signings to improve significant weaknesses, going from one of the top 3 hardest schedules in the league to one of the top 3 easiest schedules, essentially having 2 first round picks next year with White.
  17. Discipline has been great, contact has been better. And guess what? Only 8th in the league in SLG%, 11th in HRs, 9th in TB. Not the best metrics, but for a team projected to have out of this world power, we still haven't hit to our abilities there.
  18. I don't even care, we've gone through enough horsefeathers as Cubs fans in our lives, and we've already had to deal with one of our young studs suffering a horrific injury this year. I'm going to be as smug and cocky as possible. If we fail other fans will make fun of the Cubs regardless of whether we acted smug or humble so who cares.
  19. I'll blame us not having sole possession of the record on pitching to Goldschmidt
  20. How about first half Hammel? 1 ER total in 2 starts
  21. 8 runs scored on only 2 XBH - and one of those was from the pitcher
