  1. It's crazy how different the offense looks when they face pitchers who can locate on the corners (and umps willing to expand their zone to accommodate)
  2. based on 2 hard hit balls in the first inning?
  3. yeah robbing a 2 run homerun sometimes affects a game When the final score is 13-2 Cubs, the only thing it will affect is Rizzo's batting line.
  4. What deals weren't there? I keep hearing people say this but there were names out there being shopped the Hawks just didn't offer enough to make the deal
  5. I don't have a problem with the moves the made. Plus the price was not right for the defensive depth. Id mortgage the future each and every year Toews and Kane are at their peak. St Louis is playing better, their goalie has above a 95% save percentage. All Hawks playoff series losses since 2009 have been because of one of two reasons. 1. Goalie posts a save percentage of >95% 2. Opposing team has puck possession of >55% I still hold out hope they will win this series, but if they don't tip your cap to them and move on. They might not be as talented next year but an early playoff exit might be a blessing in regards to a long summer of rest See I still don't buy it. If you don't believe the defensive depth was their biggest problem then fine. But I believe it was and if you are going to "mortgage the future" it should have been in that area. And to me the defense has been a major problem. Doesn't really help with save % but certainly does with % puck possession. I don't mind the Ladd trade (even though according to Twitter he's been terrible this series), but giving up Denault for a third liner and a healthy scratch in the playoffs (I realize that wasn't his intended role but Stan keeps getting guys that Q benches, they should be better synced at this point) is a terrible trade in retrospect (and at the time given we didn't address defense)

  7. http://deadspin.com/the-cardinals-lost-their-seventh-game-1771958547 Deadspin has won me over for life.
  8. I did not realize our next 10 games after today are against the Reds, Brewers and Braves.
  9. I mean, unless he got out of jail like yesterday, I don't know why he wouldnt go out of his way to remove it. Or like you said at least obscure it. Obviously doesn't mind showing it off in front of 40,000 people at a game televised to millions.
  10. I'm hoping for many SMOKED balls. I hope they get REALLY STONED to celebrate todays win. Did I do it right?
  11. 81 guests here right now. Anyone reading this thread, here is the best of our Cardinal discussions: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=112
  12. That's awesome. I really hope we can convince him to stay on as a bench coach next year.
  13. PS Bull is my new favorite poster
  14. http://deadspin.com/heres-a-cardinals-fan-with-a-swastika-tattoo-1772025047 They linked NSBB!! Hurry someone post all the great Cardinal photoshops made on this board to this page so that all our new visitors can see what we've been up to.
  15. Over their last 77 regular season games, the Cubs have gone 56-21 (60-26 in you include playoffs), which is a 118-44 pace over a full season.
  16. The tipping point for Blackhawks likability and performance likely peaked last June. Not that they won't be popular or can't win a cup, but it wouldn't be surprising if the "dynasty" is over and between Kane and Shaw, the likability factor is certainly waning for the fringe fans. Wings won in 97, 98, and 02 and then not again until 08. I could see that being the Blackhawks. We got our 3 in a short window and they MIGHT be able to get 1 or 2 more later in the Toews/Kane/Keith core's careers. Hossa is done, Seabrook is declining rapidly, and the salary cap stuff is coming to roost. A comparison could be the 09 PGA when Woods blew a lead in a major on a Sunday for the first time to YE Yang. 3 months later, his personal life stuff hit the fan, and despite times of great performance since then, he's never won a major and really tailed off since then. Yeah that makes sense...we will see. It's possible we become just another good hockey team for several years. It wasn't going to continue forever, and as long as Kane and Toews are until like 33 the team will be good and have the potential to compete. Lets not bury this year's team yet though.
  17. And it doesn't involve smoking pot
  18. I less want to make fun of you for caring what others say and more for possibly having figured out what the cumulative bears record was based on the other teams' bloggers' individual team predictions. Please tell me you did that. Oh I totally did and I'm not ashamed. I have a boring job. You can thank ESPN for having the never ending scroll of articles.
  19. To add to the shittiness, a video of shaw using a gay slur in the penalty box is going viral on twitter
  20. Someone smarter than me give me an explanation as to why this wouldn't be a giant pie in Stan's face if the Hawks lose on Thursday? Emphasized trading young assets in order to upgrade the lines instead of getting blue line depth. Those new guys have 0 total points this series yet the leaky Hawks D has led to at least 3 inexcusable goals. Now because of the Panarin bonus, not only will they not be able to add via FA, but they will have to lose someone like Shaw and have to replace him and 3 other guys. We still have young talent in the system but it's definitely been stripped down a bit going for it this year. And I don't blame him for going for it this year. I just don't buy it when people say that there was no one there to trade for on the blue line. To me it seemed like the D was a bigger issue than scoring depth and I think if Stan prioritized defense he would have gotten someone. And while I am not anti-Stan and think he has done a very good job, he's also made some moves over the last year that haven't worked out. The whole Daley to Scuderi to Ehrhoff series of transactions looks even worse knowing that Daley has been a solid contributor in Pittsburgh. And for the second year in a row he got a big name at the deadline that Q gives healthy scratches to in the playoffs. Look I can't be mad about the Hawks. While this is a long rant and probably one that can be refuted, I'm not too mad if we can't come back and win the series. But I do think that next year we will have the weakest team that we've had in the Q era and it will take some shrewd acquisitions and/or player development for the Hawks to get back to the level they've been at the last several years.
