  1. Yay, quirky first hit but I'm sure he will take it!
  2. Dex has missed some good chances to drive runs home the last 2 games. To be fair he did succeed yesterday in getting the run home on the sac fly.
  3. I'm not glad Jorge is hurt, but with Javy hitting better I'm glad this won't potentially steal PT away from a slumping Addison.
  4. He's continuing to get results despite ABs that mostly look ugly. I will take it.
  5. Worst loss and the 2 runners up: 2nd runner up: May 11th vs. San Diego. Cubs had a 4-2 lead into the 7th, Cubs were cruising toward their 8th straight win. In the 7th, Hendricks gets the first 2 outs easily, then an innocent little bunt single sends Hendricks to the showers and then the Cubs implode giving up 4 runs and losing 7-4 1st runner up: May 3rd vs. Atlanta. Cubs are somehow stymied by the hapless Braves until the 8th when they score 2 runs to trail by 1. The Cubs come all the way back in the 9th off a Russell single, but then Rondon comes in and loses the game in the 10th. Winner: May 24th @ St. Louis. No need to elaborate on this one.
  6. I want the combined total of Miggy and Wellington to be higher than whoever starts at C.
  7. At least our pitcher's arm didnt explode 2 pitches into the game.
  8. what the hell. My feed froze up with the Cubs having runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. I get it going again less than 2 minutes later and we are out of the inning without scoring? Ugh
  9. There are very few things that annoy me more than home plate umpires that take like 5 seconds to make a strike call.
  10. Why didn't he slide? Was he watching highlights of Hendricks?
  11. Honestly it makes absolutely no sense why this is a day game. Both teams have off days tomorrow. Cubs have a short flight to Atlanta, Phillies an even shorter trip to DC. You'd think the Phillies would like to sell more tickets by having a night game given those circumstances.
  12. Sounds like there might be delays here, but only early on, should get this in eventually. Philly is under a severe thunderstorm warning. Hopefully they just let the rains clear before starting so we don't have to yank Lackey after a delay.
  13. Mildly interesting interview with Murton at BP Wrigleyville today. Most interesting part is talking about what goes on in the farm system today vs. 10 years ago. The site has some weird highlighting and couldn't grab the quote (probably intentional) so here is the link: http://wrigleyville.locals.baseballprospectus.com/2016/06/08/the-cubs-organization-and-life-in-the-minor-leagues-catching-up-with-matt-murton/
  14. You've seen this young man Schwarber hit a baseball? I have been savoring every last moment of this glorious season so far but I still feel a pang when I imagine the lineup card with that monster in it. Unless it's Machado/Harper/Trout, I don't want him going anywhere. i love schwarber but there are a lot more guys i'd trade him for beyond that list A lot? There are definitely guys beyond those 3, but the list isn't super long, but with no emotional attachment I might have a different story. His ceiling to me is still a 40 HR .900 OPS guy with average defense which should be like 6-7 WAR. My guess is his floor is probably more of a 25 HR .775 OPS 2 win guy. I could be wrong though
  15. It's not completely ridiculous or anything but Baez at least is clearly a better hitter. Montero was until he injured his back. AKA I am not particularly high on Almora the hitter (although using nothing but B-R to form my opinion) and hope to be proven wrong. I hope he dongs twice just to make you look silly Me too! He has 23 HR in 1623 professional PA, so hitting 2 in 4-5 PA would be amazing.
  16. Yeah it hasn't happened to me either, thanks Tim
  17. Don't really have a problem with him hitting ahead of those two guys. It's not completely ridiculous or anything but Baez at least is clearly a better hitter. Montero was until he injured his back. AKA I am not particularly high on Almora the hitter (although using nothing but B-R to form my opinion) and hope to be proven wrong.
