  1. 7 ERA, .300 BA to lefties. Quick 1-2-3. Just one of those games
  2. Are we just facing better pitching or are the scouting reports basically saying don't nibble, just attack them? Just doesn't seem like we are walking at the rate we were earlier in the year. But we probably walked like 8 times last game and I'm just a moron.
  3. Remember that time we made the Reds pitcher throw 49 pitches in 2/3 of an inning? that was fun
  4. Just me or has Bryant been striking out a lot more lately?
  5. http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/4tgAAOSw0HVWD~VP/s-l300.jpg
  6. We've played 2.2 games against the crappy Braves and have struggled pretty much the entire time
  7. I don't know. Not concerned long term but it's difficult to watch him struggle
  8. Especially ones that will remain nagging the rest of the year like backs and hammys Plexiglass principle!
  9. Are we doing individual threads for individual Cubs related trade rumors or just using this one? https://twitter.com/JulieDiCaro/status/741374070898364416
  10. how can one hate a team where Darwin Barney led in WAR (4.6) ? I had no horsefeathering clue Darwin Barney had a 4.6 win season. That is simply beyond the realm of comprehension even if 2/3rds of it was defensive. We should have sold high on him instead of making him 'part of the core' temporarily.
  11. That's not a certainty if he's a Cardinals fan.
  12. Actually even worse, I looked up the Cubs game on April 23, 2012..... a 3-2 Cubs walkoff win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Yep, we drafted a Cardinals fan.
  13. I remember when Samardzija was drafted by the Cubs, his MySpace page (yes MySpace) had a bunch of Anti-Cubs pictures on it. He turned out fine.
  14. If you believe Kaplan on twitter, that Schwarber-Andrew Miller thing wasn't just made up. Apparently the Yankees proposed it, and the Cubs said no.
  15. 3rd round: Thomas Hatch, RHP, Oklahoma State
  16. Even with the Cubs first pick coming at the end of the third round, who wants to bet that this player we draft will have a higher WAR than every 1st round pick (supplemental included) from the Cubs between 2002-2006 combined (1.0 WAR - all from Tyler Colvin)?
  17. the only sub-par ballparks left in the majors Do the Braves really expect more attendance in the suburbs? Fulton county (where Atlanta is) has like 990,000 people, Cobb county has 730,000 people, but Cobb County actually has a higher population density. You take that plus a more affluent demographic and I'm sure they expect the move have a positive effect, at least in terms of revenue (higher ticket prices, more suites, etc), if not attendance as well
  18. [tweet] [/tweet] I am assuming this is after a certain point in the season because the biggest would have to be 1.000 as I'm sure a 3-0 team has played an 0-3 team at some point
  19. Don't even get me started on the Braves new park. They are closing a perfectly good ballpark and wasting $400 million of public money on a mediocre looking stadium (that looks a lot like Turner Field) because the demographics are better (read: more white people). I wish there was a way you could airlift the ballpark to a market that needs a new one like Tampa or Oakland.
  20. I will not create a White Sox thread because they don't deserve it and there's no reason to discuss them when they aren't making a bunch of panic moves, but their latest one was DFA Jimmy Rollins and call up their top prospect Tim Anderson. I don't know a ton about Anderson, but based on the numbers he's put up in the minors, he seems more like a "Brett Jackson" top prospect than a "Kris Bryant" one. Hits for a high average, but low BB% and SLG. Quickly googling his defense, it doesn't seem like he's all that special there as well. He's only 23 so he has a little development to go, but the White Sox aren't exactly known for developing position players, particularly once they get to the major league level.
