  1. I’ve seen this mentioned a couple of times during the offseason by the media (issues with Xfinity and Marquee) but now that we’re getting close to the season and media are still reporting these things it’s worth a discussion:
  2. 26 minutes before Ofman posted that, a radio personality from Detroit said this:
  3. What a weird statement. I know there are a few moving pieces here that would affect "win probability" (contract AAV/length and follow up moves being 2 big ones) but seems strange to suggest they don't already have a pretty good idea of what adding him would bring to the team, while potentially subtracting Nico, playing Shaw at 2B, adding a pitcher, etc. I would hope they have a giant computer that shoots projections for all these scenarios within seconds and that they did their initial due diligence weeks if not months ago.
  4. Anyways this is pretty sweet praise
  5. I was reading today that George Halas’ son Mugs was supposed to take over ownership of the team but died suddenly in 1979. Virginia was executor of his estate. This is where it gets interesting (I never knew about all of this): Imagine how different Bears history would be if GSH’s wishes were followed.
  6. lol AKME up there talking about making the playoffs. I hate this team.
  7. I honestly thought they were positioning for a sale when they bought Arlington Park and why they’ve been pushing so hard to get a stadium plan in place. If you can sell the team and a parcel of land already vetted out for a new lucrative stadium that only ups the value of the sale I would think.
  8. Sad but she lived a full life. Very fitting that the last Bears game she saw on this Earth was a win over the Packers. It will be interesting to see how her ownership shares are disbursed amongst the McCaskey family. I’m assuming George will become the majority owner? Could this shake some things up allowing them to sell the team? Interesting times, but for today it’s RIP Virginia
  9. My question is, does acquiring Bregman hurt the Cubs ability to sign Tucker to an extension? I’m still of the belief that Jed acquired him for 1 year and isn’t going to break the bank for him (although will make an effort to keep him). If Bregman opts in does that $30m weigh them down?
  10. Putting this here because he was mentioned as a Cubs target a few times
  11. Yeah but with the draft odds lower now it seems more possible. Plus I think this draft is still considered super deep
  12. Yeah, I think people are overestimating LaVine’s value. He has a max contract and his reputation, fairly or not, is something a little more than an empty scorer for bad teams that plays bad defense, has knee issues and about to hit 30 years old. With this trade they are positioned well for 2026 offseason in terms of payroll flexibility (horsefeathers I sound like GarPax), and now control all their 1sts again which is helpful since the Bulls wouldn’t be able to trade a 1st until 2028 if they kept it this year (top 10 protected). this is a little different than the AC trade, where they traded him to a team that has so many 1sts that they give them out to trick-or-treaters at Halloween, and didn’t get a 1st back
  13. Would be kind of funny to trade away one of the teenagers we acquired from SD after developing him, while in return receiving a player we traded away towards the end of his development cycle and watched blossom into an all star.
  14. I'm absolutely just horsefeathers stirring here because I do truly believe in Caleb and cant wait to see what he does with a functional offense next year. But QBs picked in the draft after Caleb: 2nd overall - Pro Bowler and led team to NFC championship game 3rd overall - Pro Bowler (albeit the weak one where you get named when people drop out) 12th overall - Pro Bowl alternate and led team to playoffs
  15. From start to finish? Yeah its been a few years. Even if the Bulls weren't the most depressing team in the NBA, most NBA games end up close late so unless I have a ton of time, I just watch the 4th quarter lol. The last game I'm certain I watched start to finish was Game 2 of their playoff series against Milwaukee. Derrick Rose was probably still on the team the last time I watched a regular season game from start to finish. I actually really miss caring about the Bulls, but I just don't right now. The CSHN thing killed whatever desire I had to watch games. If I can't even watch them without searching the high seas for a stream, there's just no point. I see little tidbits like "Bulls lose 137-109". The thing I kept seeing today was Patrick Williams is apparently playing bad? Well no horsefeathers many people would have told you that before you extended him
  16. Most: Eagles (editing bc I remembered playoff games), Bucs, 49ers Least; Cowboys, Falcons, Seahawks Just complete guesses…
  17. Is it bad that I’d rather have Hodge as closer and just pick up guys like Robertson?
  18. Interesting hires from the Lions Antwaan Randle El is the new assistant head coach JT Barrett is the new QB coach also JT Barrett was short against Michigan in 2016
  19. I wonder who is leaking that particular information out there.
  20. Leaning heavily on WAR here but the Cubs would have 3 of the top 18 fWAR position players in baseball over the last 3 seasons if they signed Bregman. 4 of the top 25 if they managed to keep Nico.
  21. Definitely looking to rent for a year and Bregman probably knows that so I'm guessing he's using the Cubs interest as leverage for an Astros reunion. Unless of course like you said they trade Nico. Though Nico has been worth like 0.5 wins less total than Bregman over the last 3 years so not a huge improvement in some ways.
  22. Bless you for that. But also damn you for quoting me before I could snipe edit with a screenshot 😅
  23. If so they clearly don't know anything about Jed "man of his principles" Hoyer
