Yeah, I think people are overestimating LaVine’s value. He has a max contract and his reputation, fairly or not, is something a little more than an empty scorer for bad teams that plays bad defense, has knee issues and about to hit 30 years old.
With this trade they are positioned well for 2026 offseason in terms of payroll flexibility (horsefeathers I sound like GarPax), and now control all their 1sts again which is helpful since the Bulls wouldn’t be able to trade a 1st until 2028 if they kept it this year (top 10 protected).
this is a little different than the AC trade, where they traded him to a team that has so many 1sts that they give them out to trick-or-treaters at Halloween, and didn’t get a 1st back
