  1. Seriously I think I took for granted how good our defense was last year. I'm not saying a play like that didn't happen last year, it just didn't seem to happen very often at all. Defense was just one of many things I didn't worry about failing us last year. Tonight our defense has somewhat cost us 2 runs against a dominant Max Scherzer
  2. Wow LaStella strikes out looking in an AB where none of the 6 pitches thrown were anywhere close to the zone...
  3. Last year they had an OPS that was 150 points higher vs. RHP. This year their OPS vs. RHP is 1 point better (.785 vs. .784)
  4. Yuck https://twitter.com/CarrieMuskat/status/879793646756868097
  5. We will see. I could still see this team going on a big run in the second half as we have the last 2 seasons. In 2015 we did it with a rotation that included a pre-woke Hendricks, pre-potato chips Hammel and @ithrow88 serving up meatballs. We will almost certainly acquire a top 2 starter at the deadline, if not 2 starters, Zobrist, Heyward, Russell would presumably return healthy and hopefully we can some semblance of old Schwarber back. I could see us going on a 41-15 run like we did in 2015.
  6. And now Harper will bat as the game winning run baring a double play.
  7. And there it is, my obsessive streak of 5+ runs one game followed by 3 or less runs the next game continues.
  8. Willy been taking shots in the clubhouse? Super late aton those last 2 swings
  9. We are close to halfway through the season and the offense just continues to be middle of the road. Considering all the resources we've spent on hitter it's a bit disappointing. /meatball
  10. Would be great to see his offense give him a bigger cushion. I think 8 runs would be enough to make me feel comfortable.
  11. I'm really glad broadcasts have those pitch tracker things. Assuming they are relatively accurate (aka not TNT) they have really exposed just how bad umpiring is
  12. So we're just making these the game threads now?
  13. Odds that he makes at least 1 PA in the major leagues?
  14. I think they had a good offensive day today, just had some bad luck/didn't get the big hits. They had 8 hits and 7 walks, keep doing that and the runs will come. Don't worry about me, I get obsessed by weird patterns and then shove them down everyone's throats here until they start making fun of me.
  15. Yeah but we have Butler Arrieta Lackey lined up
  16. Cubs have alternated wins and losses for the last 15 games except for a 3-2 win over SD on a game that should have been a loss to keep the pattern going.
  17. And the cycle continues. Cannot have consecutive good offensive games (with regards to runs scored) for the last 2.5 weeks
