  1. The Cubs are requiring a $50 refundable deposit with each entry to cut back on the number of duplicate entries. I get it and I'll pay them to hold my money for a month, just never heard of a team requiring fans to pay a deposit to register a lottery that will give you a CHANCE to get playoff tickets if selected. Oh well, maybe I'll get picked this year for once. Also: Cut off date for NLDS is Sept 19, so you have 6 days.
  2. Just trying to think of what the Cubs would use as selling points for Otani to pick them over teams like the Yankees and Dodgers. Yankees can push their storied history of championships, NYC's international status, their ability to give him $2 billion dollars in his next contract (not to mention more money in this first contract) Dodgers can push the number of Japanese people in LA market, history of Japanese stars on Dodgers, multiple Japanese players in the rotation already (and would probably have a leg up in resigning Yu if it came down to it as a selling point), also endless amounts of money, and then the glitz and glamour of LA/SoCal Cubs can push recent championship, young awesome core, great pitching coach in Bosio, top of the line organization from front office down to player development, historic ballpark, large media market, and while not quite as deep pocketed as the Yankees or Dodgers (I think?) they could make it clear they will pay him whatever the yankees or dodgers would.
  3. I'm mad that Bryant hit didn't go out. If it did he would have had 10.6% of his season RBIs tonight
  4. Oh god now we have to score TWO runs to win this game? horsefeathers this At least we're out baserunnering thrm 7-5. I'm sure Schwarber, Heyward, Javy and Quintana will put together a rally Edit: Reverse jinx
  5. 7 base runners in 3 innings, 0 runs. Baseball is the most frustrating sport on the planet because of stretches like these that every team goes through
  6. 3 dongs in our last 8 games, only 1 of them came while a game was still in doubt. And we lost that game 6-1
  7. Literally within the same 5 min span of the Cubs blowing that rally the Brewers and Cardinals both went from losing to winning
  8. "I don't care if the dolphin statue has impaled itself between SS and 3B, you can't just change the venue to entirely new city a few days before the game. If the Cubs got to play a series here, then we are too."
  9. [tweet] [/tweet] Any way we can throw a late round pick and nab him? Probably not.
  10. Freeman went to IR. Ouch. Remind me of how long the new IR is, 8 weeks? Or is this long term IR?
  11. I mostly approve. I was worried that Joe was going to do one of those "give Rizzo an extra off day" things
  12. What I pictured reading this:
  13. I'm assuming that is why Schwarber didn't play much last weekend, he was too busy with the final preparations for the charity event right?
