  1. Djokovic hit one of the biggest forehand returns I have ever seen on match point. I thought it was out at first. But in that situation with that pressure, it was unbelievable. Federer couldn't hit a winner the last three or four games it seemed. He thought he had the match and seemed to go into total shock after Djokovic was able to save match point. Never seen Federer play so defensively the last three or four games.
  2. http://www.chicagotribune.com/media/photo/2011-09/64420717.jpg My thoughts exactly on the last preseason game
  3. I don't trust Martz one bit on personnel decisions. Martz was the guy who wasted a whole quarter playing Todd Collins against Green Bay when Haney clearly was the better QB and every Bear fan alive knew that but Martz didn't.
  4. I think Tiger needs to play more. A lot more. Obviously he can't make the Fed Ex Cup playoffs, but playing regularly is the best way to get his old form back.
  5. Bump, but Tiger dumped Steve Williams a few weeks back and now the news is public. Williams seems a little ticked. I guess Tiger is just going for a fresh start. It will be interesting to see if Williams uses this to inform the world about how much he did or did not really know about Tiger's affairs. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/breaking/chi-tiger-woods-dumps-caddie-steve-williams-20110720,0,464279.story
  6. Pacman Jones arrested at a bar again for disorderly conduct. Love the mugshot. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6754092 http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2011/0710/nfl_pjonests_65.jpg
  7. Purposefully throwing at a batter is not considering throwing inside or establishing the inside.
  8. Just let a guy throw 95 MPH fastball right at you only because you are destroying their team? I really don't think Ortiz has a fear problem.
  9. I don't. It is one thing to say that you have the right to throw inside, but it is another thing to throw right at someone's hip in multiple pitches. And Ortiz was running to first, just not quick enough for Gregg. If Gregg is so tough he wouldn't have actually tried to throw a punch.
  10. That's the rumor that Dan Bernstein has been floating around. Any hard evidence for it?
  11. I think one more year at $5.6M. God Tallon is/was an idiot. Will they be able to rent him out again like they did last year and save on the cap hit?
  12. Is Huet still owed money?
  13. 110 more days until hockey resumes
  14. Where do you tell their overall record year by year?
  15. I haven't been paying much attention to him, but it seemed that his first year up he was working in his splitter pretty well but went away from it the next few years. Has he gone back to it?
  16. THE CAVS WILL WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE LEBRON DOES!
  17. Those are the ugliest hats I have ever seen
  18. What if the Celtics or the Mavericks planted the rumors? It's the best way to stop LeBron.
  19. Z is off here. First of all, he is not the guy to do this. He has never been a leader and has acted like a child since he got here. If you can't even drink the right amount of fluids and work out enough to keep your back healthy, you are in no position to call out the team. Second, Marmol has one of the best pitches in baseball and probably the best slider in baseball. You live and die with your best pitch in that circumstance. It wasn't the kind of pitch that Marmol made a mistake with, but he put the slider right down the middle to Theriot. I'm just have little confidence in Ricketts/Hendry/Quade to get this straight. Quade has to take more control of this team. Hendry has to talk to Z and trade him. The Cubs aren't winning for a few years so get Z's money out of here and rebuild. Z won't be here if and when this team gets good. But Ricketts doesn't want to trade Z because it is hard to justify the price of Cub tickets when your stars are gone. But Ricketts has to realize that the economy isn't getting a lot better any time soon and if you want people to come tot he game in this climate, you have to win and winning is building the farm, getting the right FAs in here, and making good trades.
  20. Have we heard anything from CBS, NBC, and FOX about trying to use their power to get the NFL out of this lockout. They can't be too pleased about having to dish out TV money for nothing.
  21. I don't think this is about increased revenues. If True North didn't buy the Thrashers, the team might have gone bankrupt and the NHL would have been forced to buy them out. If they were sold for $150 million and the Atlanta Spirit were losing $30 million a year, why keep pouring more money into the team. Bettman and the NHL just didn't want to have to buy out the team. That makes more sense. Still, though, not a good sign for the old NHL. Any more of this and they might want to just start contracting. They should start contracting. Not until Bettman and the NHL stop getting $60 million each time a team moves will they think about it. In the mean time, Bettman might want to try to get a real TV deal. When the Hawks sell out every game, sell tons of clothing and other paraphernalia, and are still forced to pull money from Wirtz's business, you know you have a problem and it's not with the Hawks.
  23. The Thrashers needed to go. Atlanta is just not a hockey city. Never will be. I don't think you can totally blame the ownership group. They have hemorrhaged $130 million the last five years. They made some good moves last offseason and they offered the biggest contract in NHL history to Kovalchuck, but he turned them down.
  24. Tressel definitely needed to go, but I still think that the players are getting nearly a free pass. All the time you hear, "the poor players just aren't getting paid and it's hard to live as a college student without cash." But what did they trade jerseys and stuff for? Tattoos. Man it's gotta be hard to live as a college student without a sleeve. And a Nissan 350Z. Somehow there has to be a way to punish the players without hurting the team and the coaching staff. If there was a way to do that, I doubt Tressel would have kept this mess silent. With that said, Tressel has to live by the rules. Especially if you are going to call yourself a Christian and profit off of proclaiming your program clean.
