  1. Agreed completely with this...especially the part about Dempster. There's got to be SOME contender who needs a 4th starter who can give some innings and pick up a decent amount of K's, has experience in the bullpen closing games (come playoff time), and even has playoff/WS experience. Really, really interested to see what's up with Volstad this year. Liked his arm even going into whatever year it was he was drafted in the first out of HS. He's become more of a sinker/slider guy since he's been in the pros, but I like that he uses and even spots his changeup well and his slider is fine considering his main breaking ball was a 12/6 curveball. He's got some upside left, though I think he's more of a 3/4 type...Kind of like Dempster actually, though without Dempster's formerly wipeout slider (balanced out by better mechanics, control, and command).
  2. They'll worry about that in 2015 when it's relevant. He's 35 and his neck was recently fused back together. I'd say your assessment is pretty optimistic. I'm an optimistic kind of guy. Plus, he's one of the GOATs at *the* position the NFL goes out of it's way to protect. Prepare to see SO MANY flags for that Bronco offense.
  3. I think it's safe to hope Theo starts with Dominic Brown and works his way down. Edit: Oh someone already...alrighty then.
  4. They'll worry about that in 2015 when it's relevant.
  5. Hopefully not speaking too soon when I call that a steal for the Jets. He's one of the better safeties in the league and was easily the best S to hit FA this year. If he was healthy he'd be one of the biggest names on the market, so this is a move I could see paying off big time.
  6. Good choice on their part. He's got a good arm.
  7. The Ricketts are going to be such a big deal in this sport in a few years...
  8. #3 is probably something really big like intangibles. 3) aggressively running the bases. 3) Productive outs.
  9. I think in 10 days he'd get like 10% of the ABs I want him to get in AAA...I'd like to see him get as close to 300 more ABs as possible.
  10. Mark Sanchez now makes more than Aaron Rodgers. We all know that won't last long so it's completely irrelevant. Part of me hates it...I blame alot of the Jets' problems on Mark Sanchez....The other part of me is interested to see that the Jets finally might be sticking with a plan and a QB who still has all his physical abilities intact (Pennington got his contract AFTER his first major injury). Sanchez doesn't lack talent and he was always a weird top 5 pick QB (junior entry, 13 college starts) so after his rookie year I figured he wouldn't do much for a while when it would suddenly just click for him. He's most definitely the type of QB who I would not be surprised to see suddenly throw up a standout season in his late 20's and have the ball roll from there... Anyway, the Jets better have a strong FA and draft because he's still not someone to trust yet, even if they said otherwise with an extension. It did free up some cap room in 2012 which hopefully lets us even be players for Mario Williams....please be players for Mario Williams...At least Landry (given health) and some non-garbage WR who can play outside. Sanchez can be cut as early as after 2013, which is about when a house cleaning would occur if he did bomb anyway. I think this can end well and if not its over quick....No setting us back a decade or anything.
  11. #3 is probably something really big like intangibles.
  12. Considering the majority are prospects, no, but at least there's the chance to have a future core. First we lay the first foundation (bats) then a second foundation (pitchers) then empire.
  13. April 1st is fine so long as you're not FOOLING me. Get it? Please don't.
  14. That's pretty much exactly where I am...Wouldn't hate Correa and I think I might like Fried more than I've said I did (might have the best LH curve I've seen in years). Only reason I'd be scared of picking Giolito is that he might just want to go to college and shoot for being #1 overall in 2015. Any thoughts on Hunter Virant? He's doing a Derek Holland/Cliff Lee imitation mechanically, and long term I think he can hold it. His present stuff is a notch below Fried's, but I really like the arm, projectability, and athleticism. He's probably not top 10 material but long term I like him as much as any HS pitcher in this draft not named Giolito.
  15. He was overrated to start with IMO. Top 10 talk and all...Always sounded like a watered down Cashner type to me.
  16. For a guy who is seen as a candidate for first overall Appel is leaning towards underrated. He or Gausman have to be the big get at 6. Giolito's elbow really hurts the chance for that to happen.
  17. Location and my friends, I guess. None of us are hardcore football fans (well, maybe one) at all, but basically the Jets lucked out. Can't say I hold football or the NFL in high regard anyway...So going with their jokiest team maybe fits.
  18. There is zero need to put Brett Jackson on the bench, at all. He wasn't so great in AAA either that he shouldn't go back and play at the level again.
  19. They'll be better than expected due to the "change of atmosphere" that has relaxed the organization or something. Seriously, we'll probably hear that and there's no reason not to like it. Plus the roster should be a little younger and yadda yadda...No playoffs or anything, but nothing embarrassing for the majority of the time.
  20. Oh jeebus. Did he at least turn it around and return the favor?
  21. Gausman went 1 with Giolito going 2. Man they better stfu about Gausman...he's the player I want the Cubs to draft but it seems he might not make it. Think I might prefer Virant to Fried. Almost get the feeling Fried is the Everts to Giolito's Kazmir. Even comes with the curveball...
  22. Too much noise when they're trying to lay low for a while. People would expect things from Sandberg that you just won't expect from a guy named Dale who came over from the Brewers (albeit a playoff Brewer team). Edit: From the tidbits link - Dave McKay sounds like a good add to the coaching.
  23. Are their jokes about sprints or long toss too or just the towel drill?
  24. *shoots self in face* +1 Of course in a transition year like this the window is open for guys like those two to get their 15 mintues...Yuch and a Yuch Yuch.
  25. I could also do the Cardinals if there's no one out there.
