  1. Looking at the list I'm going "meh" by 35. Obviously there will be good players after that, but I still think the minors are lagging behind the mid-late 2000's. Still can't believe the Pirates signed Josh Bell...I wasn't quite as high on him as I was on Heyward coming out of HS, but it's damn close.
  2. It really seems like Baez is a standout talent. I compared him on draft day to a young Aramis Ramirez. I don't know what I expected, but he seems to be universally included on top 100 lists. That's good. OTOH, I still don't get the Matt Szczur love. I think I've seen two instances where I got where the hype would come from, and both times he was taking BP. Even if he is worth it he's at least two years away... I expect the Cubs will own this list sometime in the next 2-3 years. Pretty excited for the farm system over that time period and beyond.
  3. When Randy Wells is in shape he's generally been good, right? Looks like he's stopped imitating David and started being Randy. Um...tss. Pretty much anyone on this current pitching staff is trade bait. Here's hoping they make us proud.
  4. You can see highlights of Gausman on LSU's website. I don't think he's getting to 6. That would be a gift though, because he looks like he can be an elite prospect.
  5. That would suck. McNutt's pretty much the only upper level starter with any major upside here.
  6. Also, anyone know anything about Chris Bosio? What kind of style does he like to coach?
  7. That picture of Garza reminded me that he should help himself out and become a better defensive pitcher. He's terrible at fielding his position to the point where it's noticeable when you're not looking for it.
  8. Questions for anyone who might know: What's the word on Preston Tucker? Do teams think Matt Reynolds has the bat to be a first round pick? Can Micah Johnson stay at 2B? Is Peter O'Brien the Miami catcher any good? Will many of these questions play themselves out over the season? Gausman or Appel @ 6...Zunino really would also work...Appel only 5 K's in his 7 innings...K's are going to be big for him this year. Oh, and Brett Mooneyham would be a sweet get.
  9. I always forget that this trade happened. [expletive]...really hope they can help Volstad perfect his sinker/curve combo.
  10. And taxed That should be a given...same for prostitutes and the other drugs. Of course I haven't fully thought this out, but it makes sense.
  11. Legalize it. It's ridiculous that it's not. People go to jail for such a stupid thing. It's just sleazy and scummy all around that it's not...
  12. Sure, but DeWitt had that same pedigree. He was one a top prospect in a touted system who just stopped improving one day...I think the thing about Cardenas is just price. I think they're paying DeWitt this year, but the money is there to do it and they have a guy who might be able to do his role (suck when the sucky starters go down) for cheap over the next couple of years.
  13. Agreed on the K's, BUT I thought he covered more of the plate than I thought he would/could. Its what prompted me to go to Lee as an image. Do you think he'll walk as much as Lee did? It's a little off as a comp, but for some reason I like it. Both tall, athletic 1B with strong plate coverage, slightly long swings because of their length, good line drive power early on, strong makeups...debuted with the Padres (superfluous I know)...Neither is projected as a superstud, but both were touted prospects who made it to the show young....Definitely some similarities here. I'd be very happy with the Marlins version of Lee here.
  14. Who the eff is Derrel Lee? You mean Derrek Lee? I think McNutt takes the biggest leap if he can avoid those weird injuries (blisters, etc.), then I think it's Vitters, followed by Lake. I think Vitters will have a big year and jump back up into our top 3-5 prospects in the system this time next year, when our system should be stronger and more highly regarded than it is now. Of course I meant Derrek Lee. That one letter was pretty crazy. Completely agreed with your rest though. I like McNutt athletically more than I thought I would. It looks like they tweaked his mechanics over the course of the year last yea too.... I am highly optimistic on Vitters this year for no particular reason.
  15. Yeah but Yankees.... Agreed that this is probably done and it's all just formalities, but the window is still open while it's not official.
  16. tsssss Nice. I wrote one out but I'll resist. Sucks toning down because I overload the awesome.
  17. Just a smidge lower. Farm system should have gotten an 16-18 if not a little higher.
  18. +1 With the direction they took this offseason he was pretty much the must sign FA this year for the Cubs... The Star Ledger reported that the Cubs came to an agreement with him if that means anything (I don't think it does).
  19. Beat me to it. I'll keep this phrasing simply because it's the nicest way this can possibly be said.
  20. A few things work in his favor here...he's taller than Wolf, and I'd guess the better athlete...then his youth...then the fact that he'll get pro level coaching/training. I probably will not throw him into my top 10 (coming out eventually!), but I'm very optimistic on Concepcion. Take that with a grain of salt because I'm optimistic about Mark Sanchez next season.

  22. Damn, he's not very good at falling off the wagon. If you're going to booze it up and bang a random skank, you gotta make it somewhat worth while. Sounds like he was blitzed out of his mind (jamming to the karaoke) so he probably doesn't remember that 5 minute ride anyway. i'm not sure what is more depressing. that someone is so vulnerable to alcohol that when he relapses, he gets completely blitzed, forgets about his beautiful wife and kids and home and bangs some barfly in a bathroom, or that various people at the bar who were probably cognizant of his vulnerability, still enjoyed drinking/videotaping/having sex with him. I'm not depressed, I'm morally outraged.
  23. Damn, he's not very good at falling off the wagon. If you're going to booze it up and bang a random skank, you gotta make it somewhat worth while. Sounds like he was blitzed out of his mind (jamming to the karaoke) so he probably doesn't remember that 5 minute ride anyway. The former hard drug and alcohol addict who just relapsed for the second time in whatever amount of years PROBABLY didn't think it all out. Plus, there's the outside shot that the average looking woman had some kind of sex appeal that only works in her presence (like alcohol). Is he married? I think that's the only way him getting laid that night is of any significance at all, but I realize that piling on is a pass time.
  24. WHICH IS IT!?!? There's guys posting links saying it's not a done deal while there's other guys still talking about the numbers. Booooooo.
  25. You didn't miss a thing, I don't think. In fact, now I feel like I missed something. This got covered? Adonde? I want to see some of the comparisons this guy is getting so I can dream comparison dreams. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=60295&start=100 Look 5 posts down. I'm an ass....Thanks. Justin Upton!! That way we can have two by 2014!
