  1. Huzzah! Huzzah! Hopefully he has a good May...IIRC He tore up last May until he got hit by a pitch at some point in time....hopefully there's that without the HBP part.
  2. If you're ever bored Bundy used to put up a ton of his workouts on YouTube....since he was 14 maybe even younger. Lots of punching bag stuff...Really just an interesting prospect.
  3. He's definitely one of the more fun guys to watch work.
  4. I feel informed after this post.
  5. Pugliese is the guy with the knuckechange right? I remember him getting ahead of most draftees last year, but thy memory is cloudy. I do remember him being more interesting than not amongst the arms taken last year. No K's for Scott...Meh...More curious about pretty much everything else. I think Garrert Schlect should be talked about more. He's got interesting upside, and is amongst the most patient hitters in the system since he got in. Candelario had a nice game, and Rosario the super sleeper catcher threw out a runner. Supposedly they're pretty high on Rosario from what I choose to infer.
  6. You have to figure that economically a bat makes more sense than a pitcher. Offensive runs and defense are what's in demand right now. OTOH Guasman is better.
  7. Yes, it was discussed all of last year actually. You don't just decide to make a guy a starter like that if you buy the talent. He's been building towards this for years. If you look at Shark year by year his mechanics changed a little each one. He's still probably amongst the most athletic players in the organization, so he's adapted extremely well and stayed healthy. Not to be a Hendry apologist or anything, but he didn't leave a complete dump here. The contracts are gone in a couple years, the farm system isn't barren, and many employees are still there. He was mostly just a bad GM who couldn't keep his aces healthy and didnt chase Carlos Beltran.
  8. They need to stfu about Gausman. Guy is a legit talent. The mechanics and body type and a that remind me of a RH Hamels on the muscle juice (because a RH Hamels better throw harder).
  9. Obviously we need to see how this season plays out for McCarthy to see if he was the real deal last year, but I think even if he regresses a bit that he'd still make a nice mid-level addition to the rotation. Yeah, McCarthy's the guy I'd be eyeing, assuming he stays healthy this year. Yeah beyond injury I actually thought he was the best name there, but all those guys have some long term injury questions that say "stay away." None are bad pitchers when healthy, of course, but injury is a big reason all are second or third tier FAs.
  10. That was because he could never find the strike zone and when he did the ball found the bleachers. You'll find that when bad players become good fans tend to like them more. Oh that's how it works? Damn. All these years....
  11. I can bs with those guys to a point if they understand the actual actions/movements of the pro athletes, which he conversation never gets to. In fact, that conversation is much easier in real life than on the Internet because people LOVE numbers on the Internet. That said, more and more numbers (velocities, pitch movements, etc) are helping quantify scouting to an extent...Though its still hard to sift through the numbers, apply context, and get everyone to agree with you. The Garza trade was a big lesson in that...Some Paul Wilson clone he turned out to be.
  12. Shark was nasty. Remember when nobody liked him? Athleticism (as well as size, raw baseball talent, and character) is king in prospectdom! Really hope this is real for a decade.
  13. I'm guessing Kemp (maybe CC as well, maybe) beat out Carlos Beltran's contract as the best $100 million dollar deal in league history.
  14. ^^ For the most part I'd like to stay away from those pitchers unless the price is right.
  15. Smoral over Gausman? I would riot with the wrath of a thousand gods.
  16. That situation has plenty of ifs but I just don't think it's crazy to see that happen. It was summarized pretty well in the earlier "not unusual" post I should have quoted.
  17. Garza + Hamels (just for shiggles) >>>>>>>> Throwing in the towel for the next few years for overrated prospects. Having Garza puts us in play for guys like Hamels, Upton, and whoever else is primed in FA that happen to be of similar or better age, talent, and pedigree. He's one of the handful on the ML roster who actually make other teams take this team seriously. Build on that, it only makes sense. Just because a guy is kinda sorta close to 30...[expletive] the Cubs just don't have to operate on that level...I'd never be able to root for that team. I LIKE Smyly and I'd laugh at that deal from the Tigers. Of course I do still think that Turner is overrated...so...there's the Smyly boost.
  18. I don't see him going to the AL. Just a weird hunch so take it for the nothing most/all would anyway...I know I know something about money is the one and only or however it gets put...
  19. 20% just because. Don't really see him giving a crap about playing in Cali unless Cali pays up.
  20. Isnt that conversation based totally around them not being willing to raise payroll anyway?
  21. Absolutely zero worries about having the money to play. The Dorgers? Still sickens me to hear anyone scared of fighting them for FAs. If the Cubs can't fight the Dodgers for FAs then its game over, and...to be corny...the game hasn't even really started.
  22. Awesome again videographer. Hearing good things about Darvill lately has me hoping he can replace LeMahieu as my favorite IF sleeper. Do you think he can play 2B?
  23. Good to see that top tier guys see this and get it. Good to see someone with that kind of pedigree, talent, youth, and production gets that.
  24. hamels is a hell of a lot closer to a #1 than samardzija is to a #3, that's for damn sure. Yeah but imagine!
  25. 1) 4 aces in every deck. 2) Almost made this same exact post minus the #1 part...actually damn I didn't play that game as well...it's a bs game....but yeah including calling him "Good Shark." I really want Hamels here. Young, left handed, gets K's, a high end pitchers for years, great pedigree...
