  1. Wow congrats to him. That's a sick performance... Last guy to hit 4 in a game was Mike Cameron for the White Sox, and I feel like that was a decade ago.
  2. Taylor Scott: 3.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R (1 ER), 1 BB, 2 K, 1 WP, 1 GIDP, 41 pitches (23 strikes), 5/2 GO/FO Want more K's, but at least he's getting groundballs as well as not giving up too many walks and hits. Still a nobody but Ill keep paying attention because he's got a really interesting arm while being very young amongst our interesting arm prospects. http://www.thecubreporter.com/2012/05/08/miscues-help-angels-edge-cubs-fitch-park Dunston hit a triple.
  3. I like this Matt Szczur. Doubles and walks doubles and walks...More of that in the system. Here's hoping Simpson finishes up tonight well.
  4. Checking out Delgado before the game and I thought he threw harder.
  5. Seriously... What else has Harper done beside that blowing that kiss to a pitcher in the minors? Talking crap to an opponent???? REALLY??? Everyone does that. It's not like Harper was a problem child/troublemaker/immature/etc.. in the minors like Delmon Young or Elijah Dukes for example. Pretty sure these guys didn't get beaned in the back soon after they got called up. I absolutely love that you can say that in the 14 page Bryce Harper is a Douche thread on a Cubs forum and there are people who will be like "yah totally!" Acknowledge it when it fits, right? Or maybe its just a joke based on...something! Who knows?! http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=safari&sa=X&ei=26apT-6kJcn1ggfe2_SSAg&ved=0CB0QBSgA&q=bryce+harper+arrogant&spell=1&biw=320&bih=416 His attitude is infamously Bonds-level arrogant. Who DOESN'T know this or are we just playing obtuse to prolong this conversation? This is like the second thing you learn about Bryce Harper with the first being that he's REALLY good at baseball. He's going to catch some kind of crap all year...it'll just have to be more subtle now is all. Some people just rub their peers in the wrong way and Harper is that guy...possibly due to him being that talented and that arrogant all at the same time (see, Hamels was just jealous!). Btw if someone tried to throw at Delmon Young he'd probably have a swing at it. Elijah Dukes the sociopath? What does he even...I really think the whole dynamic is just lost on fans, and not so deep down I think that kind of disappoints the [expletive] out of me (hence not shutting up about it). It's not even like society is more mature so that's not it...
  6. Probably he was never of any real interest anyway. I can't find anything but there's plenty of guys like him in the system anyway
  7. I'll say this about Fried...The mannerisms of a big leaguer are there with the little I've seen...I bet his work ethic and makeup will impress. He's skinny but the size is there if/when he fills out...raw arm strength is better than Virant...his stuff moves but I still say but in my head. I can see some Skaggs in him though...Throws everything harder coming out of HS. Kaprielian from Irvine Beckmann looks interesting for later. UCLA commit with a curveba of doom. Funnily enough reminded me of Anibal Sanchez, though maybe its because I spent a chunk of yesterday talking about Sanchez here.
  8. Body wise I'm 99.9% sure Kershaw was bigger/thicker. Built maybe more like Guierri, the Rays pick last year.
  9. In which case we get Chris Volstad a few months later.
  10. Damn always liked Gonzalez's arm. Not a big loss but never a bad thing to add an arm who's had some success.
  11. I was wondering wtf I'm still doing talking about this....Yuch. I've given this so much unnecessary attention, haven't I?
  12. Why would pitchers have an instant dislike for this precious angel?!?! They're so mean with their heads of meat! Cole Hamels is a bad man full of FEAR and JEALOUSY!
  13. I mean this way in the nicest way possible but hopefully at the bottom of the ocean.
  14. I'm saying ALL of Bryce Harper's reputation precedes him. Players know who he is. Before Hamels actually did there was already Latos talking about doing it. These guys know who each other are, especially someone like Harper. Guess what? It's not all sunshine and lollipops with sprinkles, hugs, and friendship all around. Also saying that he's made a habit of [expletive] on many opponents' door mats. It can't and won't sit well with pretty much any clubhouse in the league, particularly pitchers and catchers. Sory if that's meatheaded, offensive, meany poo thinking but not everyone is blessed with perfect moral. Maybe if they can just change him through love?! Does anyone know if Harper is doing alright? Will he play again?
  15. So much for Youk at 3B here next year? Injuries have hit hard. I know it's been mentioned.
  16. Oh and you haven't seen Harper do anything like he did in the minors since he got called up less than ten days ago? What a saint on earth he must be then...Hasn't disrespected any veteran fellow players in ten days...Damn, Hamels really is a moron. Laid waste (out of jealousy no doubt!) to a beautiful, innocent boy who hasn't done blown a kiss to a pitcher/catcher or talked [expletive] to an opponent in 10 days? How gracious of him! Iunno that's another excellent point...between this, Torress accidentally hurting someone ten years ago, pretending to remember that no one threw at ARod/Griffey twenty years ago, and throwing rocks at strangers I'm starting to see. PLUS Mitch Williams got mad.
  17. Has Harper said anything or is he still recovering from his wounds in some Swiss hospital? Has the family released a statement? What's Jack O'Houlihan's take on the situation?
  18. Since few will actually read this but run with your comment..Leyland is more pissed that he bragged about it after the game to the public. THAT I can and have agreed with. Also, more coulda/woulda/shoulda nonsense.
  19. Yeah we're talking about hitting a guy in a very specific part of the body picked because serious injury is much less likely to occur. Should he have thrown at his head instead? Would that make it nicer and more family friendly for the easily offended? I say they make him apologize to the public for his egregious actions.
  20. What was so creepy about that LaHair picture? He just wants to be accepted as a bat in a lineup.
  21. Damn yeah I really liked him as a pen arm. Very mechanical and reminded me of my favorite reliever in baseball right now, David Robertson. Nice sharp breaking ball he could throw for strikes or bury...good fastball...Oh well hopefully they find another one.
  22. Shark is a better athlete with better mechanics....Knock on wood but I don't see TJ in Shark's future.
  23. Was just about to post this http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/prospects/watch/y2012/index.jsp?tcid=mm_mlb_news Man that J. Upton comp is getting used more and more amongst incoming prospects....Kind of says a lot about the not-even-27 real thing, no? This year I've read it for Buxton, New Cabrera, and Soler. He should be a Cub. A worthy RH power RF replacement for Sosa a decade later. Palma and Mujica (7 and 8) catch the eye.
