    I know their pitching staff is horsefeathers, but a totaled Michael Wacha was really their best option today? Sheesh. A Cards loss today or Mets win ensures we'd only see Thor once in the DS, so that'd be cool.

    Awesome. I'm pretty comfortable saying he's the best executive in the game since Friedman has used 175 starting pitchers in his two seasons in a big market. (Though I'm still pretty creeped out by Theo the person.)

    Rogers also put out an exhilarating article this morning about Travis Wood always being the first one at the park everyday. It's safe to say everyone is ready for the playoffs.

    I agree Hammel is fucked if we go with 11 pitchers, which it sounds like we will. The only difference with your roster, UM, is I feel like Almora has surpassed Scissors based on usage lately. Although, I'd bet both will make it since Soler's glass interior is cracked again.

    I've been thinking about game times on Fri too. Since there won't be a game played in pacific timezone the first two games of the DS (unless the Dodgers pass the Nats) and all four series start that day, I could see them doing something wacky like 2008 and have the Cubs start at like 8:30 local time. They'll probably stick the non Red Sox ALDS at noon. Dodgers have a huge fan base but they play a team with like 10 fans, so I'd bet they get the other afternoon slot. That leaves the Red Sox and Cubs with one getting a 6ish start and the other after 8:00.

    Of course Maddon will be allowed to use him in the outfield. Why wouldn't he be? He's used Travis Wood in the outfield (albeit in an extra inning game) and Maddon likes having versatile players. Ehh, using your LOOGY on a one year deal in the outfield is way different than one of your best starting pitchers whom you just committed over $200 million to. I just don't think we'd promise him anymore AB's other than pinch hitting and the few AB's he gets on the days he pitches. Just feels like an AL team would be better suited for a situation like this if he demands to be a hitter too, but what do I know.
