Okay, someone explain to me why the call on the field is so important when a play is challenged. You have a human being watching something in full speed, possibly with a bad angle vs SLOW MOTION VIDEO REPLAY. Today for instance, Nate Schierholtz hit a ball to the shortstop for what should have just been a FC but was called out at first base for a double play. A few weeks ago there was a play at third base in San Fran where Olt pretty clearly tagged the runner who was called safe. Neither time the was the call changed after it was reviewed. If people had seen the replay before the umpire made his call, no one would have thought Schierholtz was out or Olt didn't tag that Giants baserunner. There shouldn't need to be 100% certainty to overturn a call on the field when the umpire was probably 50% sure his call was correct. Also, just to be clear, this isn't just a bitter Cubs fan rant, as I don't give a [expletive] about losses at this point in the season, and that was the case for me fairly early into 2014. I wasn't really upset by these calls, but more confused.
