  1. Schwarber walked on 4 pitches in his 3rd plate appearance.
  2. I like this Boise radio announcer.
  3. [expletive] Alex Jackson. We got the best hitter.
  4. Oh I am far from in love with Sanchez, but I'd be more interested in him if he comes with a Hutchison or Norris. In that scenario, Sanchez isn't the big piece. I also don't think it's realistic to expect Bundy/Gausman and Harvey. I'm starting to doubt either Bundy or Gausman could be had, let alone with Harvey. Without Bundy or Gausman, I agree with Ryno that I don't want the main piece being someone who pitches in the sally league, no matter how good his stuff is.
  5. Okay, someone explain to me why the call on the field is so important when a play is challenged. You have a human being watching something in full speed, possibly with a bad angle vs SLOW MOTION VIDEO REPLAY. Today for instance, Nate Schierholtz hit a ball to the shortstop for what should have just been a FC but was called out at first base for a double play. A few weeks ago there was a play at third base in San Fran where Olt pretty clearly tagged the runner who was called safe. Neither time the was the call changed after it was reviewed. If people had seen the replay before the umpire made his call, no one would have thought Schierholtz was out or Olt didn't tag that Giants baserunner. There shouldn't need to be 100% certainty to overturn a call on the field when the umpire was probably 50% sure his call was correct. Also, just to be clear, this isn't just a bitter Cubs fan rant, as I don't give a [expletive] about losses at this point in the season, and that was the case for me fairly early into 2014. I wasn't really upset by these calls, but more confused.
  6. The Braves' top prospects have been pretty bad this year. Sims has an ERA of 5 for example, which is higher than his K/9. Don't think they have much of a shot to get him. The Mariners could put something together for Hammel, but I don't like them for Samardzija either. Rumors are we asked the Jays for Hutchison and one of Stroman/Sanchez. I kind of doubt they'd give up both Stroman and Hutchison, but maybe inserting Sanchez for Stroman would work now since they are in contention and Hutchison isn't likely to last the full season. I'd be fine with that if we have to trade him and hopefully Bosio could help with Sanchez, although he's already a big time ground ball pitcher.
  7. Schwarber is catching and batting third for Boise tonight. Weird seeing a top 5 pick play in games a week after he's drafted.
  8. Harrison just quickly checked to see if Whiteside was okay after hitting him with the back-swing. That is normal human behavior.
  9. lol, don't see that much with high popups in the infield
  10. Not only does Olt suck, but I'm kind of interested to see how Valbuena does vs lefties, as he's still a potential long term answer.
  11. I'm definitely not convinced Edwards will start, but a good reliever is better than what Almora is now. I'll at least give him that until we hear worse things about his shoulder. I'm not really convinced Alcantara will be a starter either, but he's more versatile with a lot more power and speed. Soler and Schwarber are easily ahead of him, for me at least. Not even hitting .250 in high-A at this point in the season for someone who depends completely on batting avg is frightening to me. Moreso than a couple of hamstring injuries (Soler) and some contact issues while still putting up an .800+ OPS in AAA (Alcantara). Edwards is pretty close, I'll give you that.
  12. Yeah looked like a non-arm thing. Back maybe.
  13. He looks totally lost at the plate. Too bad the Cubs don't have someone in the minors... I don't think I've ever seen someone hope the pitch is going to be a ball more than Olt did there.
  14. I'd probably put him at #7 if I had to make a top 10 today.
  15. I want to say Mcleod even admitted that. The Astros completely saved our rebuild.
  16. I thought it was weird when JD brought that up yesterday. Unless you're Billy Hamilton or Campana or someone like that, if you hit the ball in the gap to LCF or in the LF corner, it's a double. 95% of baserunners don't sprint to second and realize it's only going to be a double right away. Castro, while he's been really durable during the season, has missed time the last two springs with hamstring issues. I love JD, but he sounded a lot like Brenly and called Starlin out for something everyone does.
  17. It's been an embarrassing couple of games for Machado for sure.
  18. OPS inching closer to 1.200
  19. Then he shouldn't hit and run with Rizzo on base. Point still stands. The point isn't to steal though, so he shouldn't be in a position where he can get picked off. Whatever, I don't like hit and runs anyway because the batter has to swing. Rizzo's OPS is up to .901 after that single.
  20. What's with Schowalter's fascination with batting his best hitter 5th? Davis last year, now Cruz this year.
  21. Rick Renteria did not call for a straight steal of Rizzo.
  22. Oh look, Bryant has a double and single in his first two at-bats.
