  1. I hope, but it does seem a little fishy that they used a defensive replacement for him last night and now he's out. Hopefully it's nothing. They were up by like 7 and Cutler was also replaces at first at the same time. Could easily be a precautionary/defensive replacement situation. Gotcha, it was still close when I was watching. I forget they score about 5 runs per inning. Bryant's 0-3. He just hit what looked like a lazy popup to center, and it ended up being about a foot short of the wall. The loft, or whatever you want to call it, he gets is pretty crazy. 11 straight PA's without a K!
  2. Javy is 0-4 with a K. Most recent AB was three whiffs apparently.
  3. I think he'll always be about a hit per inning or more type of pitcher with his height. Tough to consistently get the ball down. I may be missing someone, but looking through top prospect lists, the only non-injured pitchers I'd want who could headline a Shark deal are Gray and Syndergaard. I doubt the Rockies or Mets would move them. Maybe some top position players will have to be involved without getting a great pitching spec, like a Cecchini + Owens (is that enough?) or Betts + Owens (too much?). Joc Pederson is good (with lots of K's), but our pitching will be in bad shape if we couldn't get someone better than Lee to go with him. I'd just much rather keep him, but I don't think he wants to be here.
  4. Starlin's worked two walks against Kimbrel the last two nights.
  5. Okay, I'll go back to not worrying about Bryant's K's. But only for a little bit.
  6. Extend him. Give him the $100 million+. Every top top pitching prospect is either hurt or not going to be traded for Shark (Gray, Syndergaard). And Stroman won't be as good as Shark with his height and fastball plane.
  7. Bryant has a 1.030 OPS and is striking out 28.7% of the time.
  8. Within like the last two minutes of watching gameday, Javy, Bryant, and Soler all struck out swinging.
  9. You can purchase a bottle of water for $4.00 at the Turner Field Waffle House.
  10. Olt's OPS is now .748. It's entirely slugging, but still..
  11. He is where we haters have decided to focus now that Soler is healthy and it's still too unthinkable to question Javy. Almora's start is shocking to me. I was pretty [expletive] certain he could carry at least an empty batting average in Double-A before the season started. He's not coming even close to doing that in the FSL.
  12. Albert Almora has a .236 batting average.
  13. There are going to be a lot of baserunners tonight if this zone continues.
  14. I haven't seen any national writer specifically connect Jackson with the Cubs. There may have been a mock or two that had him at 1.4, but no one has come out and said the Cubs love him like they have with the Marlins and Kolek and the Twins and Gordon, at least that I've seen. It seems like a lot of people on here (myself included) still think we end up with him. Is that mostly ABTY's doing?
  15. We have so many shitty hitters that I can't really get mad at Renteria about lineups. Valbuena, Castro, and Rizzo are the guys who should be towards the top/middle and they all pretty much have been all season.
  16. It's becoming clearer and clearer that Lake and him aren't really comparable.
  17. Javy just walked again. One thing he's been okay at this year has been walking. ~9.4%.
  18. Javy just worked a 9 pitch walk.
  19. Starlin pimped the [expletive] out of that one.
  20. He had the 8th highest OPS among SS coming into this game. We could use a lot more players who are above average for their position.
  21. That'll make for an awkward last few innings for Castillo and that umpire.
