  1. Almora with a 1st inning single. Avg up to .271
  2. I still hate Rule 5 picks, but Rondon is pretty cool.
  3. wow, 10 K's through 5 innings for Jackson He now has a 3.06 FIP
  4. It will be very interesting to see if Theo takes Kolek if he's available at 4. My guess is they'd just pick Gordon in that scenario.
  5. "I was told" means "I just read what Keith Law wrote a few days ago"
  6. Jesus, Castro could easily have like 12 homers right now.
  7. Bryant 1-2 with a BB Soler isn't in the lineup, no surprise
  8. Javy K's on a breaking pitch in the dirt his first at-bat.
  9. [expletive] it, if we have to trade Samardzija, I don't even want a young pitcher. Get Betts as the centerpiece, sign Despaigne, try our luck with FA pitchers and out-score people.
  10. wtf, I didn't even know Perez was injured
  11. If the White Sox are adamant about getting a college pitcher and Rodon and Aiken (who has the polish of a college pitcher) are off the board, I could see them going Freeland. btw, the Marlins reportedly love Kolek, but with the Fernandez injury, anyone think they shy away from the flame-throwing Kolek? Maybe go with the less velocity/better control and offspeed in Aiken.
  12. He and Watkins were Iowa's best players. There aren't many alternatives.
  13. That's a head scratcher. Bonifacio strikes out a lot, isn't a GIDP candidate, and Olt is slow.
  14. Our top 10 other than Bryant and Soler has been pretty brutal.
  15. Pretty much. There would be no excuse for this one.
  16. It's pretty frustrating to watch some of these calls. I like Brenly's idea of umps going back to the huge shield pad they used to have because they're pretty awful at calling pitches outside to lefties when they're hiding on the inside corner. Rizzo's gotten screwed on a couple pitches at least 6 inches outside this past week. Or, you know, just use the technology available and go to automated ball/strike calls That would be nice, but I just don't think that's happening anytime soon.
  17. It's pretty frustrating to watch some of these calls. I like Brenly's idea of umps going back to the huge shield pad they used to have because they're pretty awful at calling pitches outside to lefties when they're hiding on the inside corner. Since catchers can frame that pitch easily on their glove side, the ump is purely guessing. Rizzo's gotten screwed on a couple pitches at least 6 inches outside this past week.
  18. Ha, on the CSN feed you could see Starlin staring at the scoreboard to see the ruling. OPS at .799
