  1. And Hammel helped us get Addison Russell. Yay.
  2. Can the lucky Travis Wood please come back?
  3. He played RF in college, so he might be more comfortable there than LF. More importantly though, he'll beat Soler to the majors so he'll likely get the first shot at the position higher on the defensive spectrum (RF instead of LF).
  4. lol, poor Astros. Again.
  5. I'm pretty sure there's not a limit to how many times yo can go. I don't think they like having guys who have played in the majors going though unless it's a special circumstance. I suspect Soler and Russell are locks to play in the AFL with their injures and missed time.
  6. on the one hand, i don't want to throw 20M+ a year at lester...on the other, what the hell else are we going to do with money for the next few years? I have no idea. Is Alcantara in CF, at 2B, or not in the majors(hed have to fall on his face obviously)to begin next year? Is KB going to come up as a 3B or in RF? C Castillo, need a backup 1B Rizzo 2B Alcantara, Javy, or Valbuena SS Castro 3B Valbuena, Javy or KB in May-maybe Olt as a backup 1B/3B? LF ????? Maybe Lake is a backup? CF Alcantara, Sweeney as a backup RF ??????? KB in May? I can see us spending 15-20 mill on 2-3 stopgaps, I guess. Or spend fairly big on 1 guy and 5 mill or so on a pair of secondary pieces. 15-20 mill on 2 starting pitchers. But damn, who knows? We may not be done trading. Opening day: C Castillo 1B Rizzo 2B Bonifacio SS Castro 3B Valbuena OF Alcantara OF Ruggiano OF Sweeney/some reclamation like Ackley Bryant to RF after a few weeks, Javy to 2B not long after, and Russell to 3B and Soler to LF by July. weeeeeee
  7. Along with Anthony Rendon and Justin Upton. EDIT: And Casey McGehee and Justin Morneau. So does he have a shot? Judging by how few times Cubs fans voted for the starters, I'm guessing no.
  8. I definitely prefer Russell over Lindor, but I also like Salazar over the other two players we got.
  9. The Pirates could maybe use Barney as a reserve infielder or something. Doesn't seem like either would have much need for James Russell.
  10. Yeah I normally don't care very much about hustling, but if you're as bad as Sweeney has been this year..
  11. Interesting. I still think he moves to RF, but if you're a lot more worried about Baez busting compared to Bryant and Russell, I suppose Javy is the one who could move to RF.
  12. Love the K/BB ratio Torres is sporting. 8 K's, 8 BB's in 49 plate appearances.
  13. lol, Bryant is now hitting .375 with Iowa.
  14. Hanley and Tulo (surprise) are both nursing injuries. Starlin could start or at least make the team even if he's not selected tomorrow.
  15. Holy cow, I knew there was a reason I hadn't checked a Smokies box score since Bryant left. You certainly wouldn't know we have the #1 ranked system looking at that lineup.
  16. Neither Soler nor Russell are in it
  17. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/07/05/the-cubs-collection-of-position-prospects-is-ridiculous/ See, now I'm annoyed at how often we're going to see Castro left out of these projected lineups. "Maybe he'll get traded for pitching or something... just as long as there's room for Almora."
  18. If Theo actually said them in that order, it looks like they could be leaning Javy at 2B and Russell 3B. I think it will be interesting to see the opening day 2015 lineup considering Bryant, Baez, Russell, Soler etc won't be in it. It could be tough getting a FA even on the level of Rasums or Melky to sign here knowing all of these guys could be ready sometime in 2015. Hopefully we still hold on to Valbuena and Ruggiano so our April 2015 lineup isn't totally awful and ruins our chances later on in the season. Liking the deal the more and more I look at it. Hopefully the DH comes soon so there's room for Schwarber. Yeah, yeah, you can trade him but I think he's going to be a monster hitter himself.
  19. I guess I can start caring about Tennessee again.
  20. Does this make Castro the longest tenured Cub? After being underwhelmed at first, I'm a big fan. Russell is awesome.
  21. I'm at the game, absolute no doubter. Outfield barely moved. Think it left the park entirely Awesome. lol, the dot on gameday is almost off the page
  22. Javy just hit a monster HR
  23. what Kyle said pretend that third "a" isn't there
  24. Baez and Bryant both just hit doubles. Kris Bryant isn't striking out anymore. Sorry, AAA pitchers.
