  1. John Lamb must be bad at holding runners. Iowa's stolen 6 bases in less than 5 innings.
  2. No Russell or Almora in the Smokies' lineup, and Daytona's double header was cancelled. Bryant moves up to third in the order, and Soler remains in the fifth spot tonight. It's up to those two to do something tonight.
  3. Well, he's the second; it's just that everyone in the media who uses that term doesn't realize Alcantara is better than Almora.
  4. I won't freak out as much as I did when he was struggling at AAA. I fully expect a very rough month or two.
  5. A reminder of what Javy did last time he faced the Rockies: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24492471/video-cubs-phenom-javier-baez-hits-ball-hard-also-far
  6. I know some always feel the need to point out prospects bust sometimes, but we can be pretty confident we won't have holes at the positions Russell, Soler, and Bryant end up given their profiles.
  7. Is this based on the finding pitchers in the next 18-24 months quote? Or did he say something else?
  8. Coors field against a bunch of lefties. I want Javy in Denver on Tuesday. They waited a few days so they can say they aren't letting trades or injuries impact the top guys' timeline, but if he's going to come up at all this year, it really should be soon. Like Tuesday.
  9. I went with the Addison Russell trade. The Rizzo trade was great, but I feel like at the time, he and Cashner had similar values. Both had a lot of upside, but Cashner had an injury the season before and Rizzo really struggled during his cup of coffee. The Arrieta trade also looks great, but despite his stuff, it really couldn't have been too hard to acquire him with the numbers he had put up. Rarely do you see top 5-10 overall prospects get traded for non-elite talents, and that was the situation with Russell and Shark.
  10. There isn't any young pitching the Marlins have that I'd trade Castro for. Fernandez doesn't count b/c they wouldn't even consider moving him. Heaney's stuff is pretty average. Also, I have a feeling a lot of people are going to try to make "Castro will be unhappy switching positions" a thing, but let's not. He said he'd move for Baez, so we can assume he'd be fine moving for Russell as well.
  11. lol, Jansen vs Lake. This outta be good. Contact was made. Incredible.
  12. Yeah the walks and Isod have really surprised me. Like you said, the defense and baserunning will give him a boost. I guess we'll see how his avg holds up with the K's, but there's a lot to like there.
  13. Wait, I thought you didn't get another challenge before the 7th if you already got one wrong.
  14. The I-Cubs' announcer tweeted Bryant's homer to LCF came on a 99 mph fastball. That was after pulling a 97 mph heater foul.
  15. Who's more nonchalant when catching a fly ball - Puig or Andruw Jones?
  16. lol, Kemp thinks he can still play center
  17. I randomly turned to ESPN a few minutes after it happened apparently and all of the players were praying. I also saw the deadspin article title. I was too scared to watch the video replay. Oh my god.
  18. So it looks like the concerns over Soler missing key development time due to injuries were overstated, as apparently he was pretty much major league ready coming into the season.
  19. The last 3 AL MVPs are Tigers as well.
  20. That's a great play and all, but Pujols can't move anymore. This play from last year still cracks me up. http://m.mlb.com/video/v26348711/must-c-conclusion-florimon-ends-it-with-a-flourish/?query=&game_pk=346936
  21. the meatball fans will definitely hate him, because he won't be hitting much and he doesn't "play the game the right way" Between learning a new position and striking out 30% of the time, they are going to hate him. At least Castro will get a break though. The strikeout rate will probably be closer to 35-40% early on.
  22. From a service-time perspective, that'd be the worst time to do it. Why? I thought service time was service time. The more time he has up in the majors this year, the less he would be able to have next season (assuming the Cubs were even playing the clock). If service time is their main concern with Baez and plan on starting him in Iowa next year, then he shouldn't be up at all. Otherwise, the sooner he's brought up, the more time you get with him during this season.
