  1. I really dislike watching our young hitters face Gerrit Cole.
  2. Stroman has been pretty darn impressive this game and this season. Better than I thought he'd be.
  3. It MIGHT not hurt to grab a couple of starting pitchers this offseason instead of just one.
  4. Okay, well, Soler got jammed that time. He's a lot faster than I was expecting.
  5. Soler just doesn't get jammed. On pitches inside off the plate, he pulls them hard foul. Even Javy can be beat inside at times.
  6. Well damn. The replay looked very bad, but when I heard he wanted to stay in the game, I figured we'd see him by next week. You have to be pleased with a .341 wOBA out of him.
  7. We don't know that for sure. Maybe Starlin shows really good range for a 3rd baseman and the defensive metrics start to like him.
  8. If I'm not mistaken, assuming Starlin doesn't play tonight, this will be his first game in his career missed do to injury. He's gotten days off in his career during cold streaks and of course the family tragedy this season, but no injuries during the regular season. He's been incredibly durable.
  9. Still can't believe how many publications continued to rank Almora above Soler.
  10. Oh sweet, we have a series where we can use the DH soon. Hopefully that means Soler can play 5 or 6 games in a row.
  11. I can't decide what I want to see more - how hard Javy swings against Chapman, or Szczur and Coghlan getting retired so Javy can end his night on a line drive double instead of the inevitable K vs Aroldis.
  12. No one ever said it was. Sure seems like it. But maybe I'm now just the one making generalizations. People being racist about a ballplayer's mistakes don't mean the ballplayer doesn't make mistakes. It means he's held to a standard white players aren't. Guarantee Castro's gaffe will be a story tomorrow, especially if they lose. Coghlan could have done the same thing and it'd be gone already. Castro has earned the rep man. Earned it. That's why it's a story. And I love the guy. Rizzo should have the same rep with some of the plays he's had. Just last month he didn't cover first base, which led to the go ahead run scoring and no one in the media cared. Castro does some stupid things, but so does everyone else, really.
  13. Oh jeez, I thought I was listening to Marty all of this time but it's Thom. Those two sound exactly the same.
  14. I'm loving this velo and movement from Turner. wow.
  15. I feel like there has to be more to this than just sending Szczur down or something. They had Soler start a game in Washington when he could have already been in Cincinnati. There has to be some sort of trade with one of our outfielders, right? A mid game promotion is weird. Unless they don't plan on him debuting tomorrow so he can start off with someone other than Cueto..
  16. So does that mean one of Sweeney, Ruggiano, or Coghlan got traded? I doubt they'd let him start a game on the west coast when the Cubs are in Ohio if this was the plan all along.
  17. I'm feeling a Javy Waveland shot with Gonzalez pitching and the wind blowing from right to left.
  18. Ok, so he'll be starting in Tennessee next year. Our first pick will start his first full season in double A for the second year in a row. That's neat.
  19. Marty Pevey is so full of [expletive]. I don't think Hendricks has even hit 92 mph the last couple starts.
  20. Surprisingly, no he's not. Just slightly below average. UZR hasn't been too fond of his RF defense in the past though.
  21. That's such an overused reason to hate on Jaxon. Sure, he wasn't very good early in his career with the Dodgers and Rays, but he had a stretch of 3 straight years with a 3+ WAR followed by a 2+ win season. He hasn't been on a ton of teams because he's bad. That said, I would take Ethier or Upton for him because CF might still be open for 2015. I'd prefer Ethier though.
