  1. I'm not sure whose hitting I've been most disappointed in between Castro, Fowler, and Soler. I mean, Castro's been the worst, obviously, but I was expecting Soler to be a high-.800s OPS monster and Fowler to continue being one of the best leadoff hitters in the game. Very disappointing.
  2. Pitcher bat flip
  3. Happ has 2 more walks and 2 more strikeouts tonight. BB rate and K rate both sit at 24%. lol.
  4. Marlins had 6 more hits and 2 less errors than the Cubs. Fortunately, Cosart walked a few guys and made a couple of bad pitches to Bryant.
  5. Jeez, that looked like it was 150 mph off the bat. Wow.
  6. Bryant's going to pass Rizzo in fWAR soon if Anthony isn't careful.
  7. Strange that Rizzo would be frozen by a changeup. Seems like a pitch he could at least foul off.
  8. They're great, but I do really like Vasgersian.
  9. Iowa's beat writer Tommy Birch said Soler didn't make the trip to New Orleans. So I'm assuming he'll be in the lineup tomorrow.
  10. Good magicians are so [expletive] cool. I could watch that stuff for hours.
  11. Happ through 15 games - .255/.418/.529. 15/15 K/BB. That's more K's than you'd like to see in the Northwest League, but he's hit for power and he clearly knows how to draw a walk.
  12. http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/sports/baseball/iowa-cubs/2015/07/04/iowa-cubs-jorge-soler-round-rock-express-minor-league-baseball/29689907/?hootPostID=fc16990a40f3dd1a07d6a9a6183a6491 Looks like Soler didn't know where he was going as of last night. I'll bet he's currently in, or on his way to Chicago.
  13. I kind of think Javy would be a Met right now if he hadn't gotten hurt.
  14. Schwarber finished 4-4 with a BB Gleyber 2-4, 2 2B, BB Also, Iowa plays in New Orleans tomorrow. Hard to imagine them having Soler travel from Des Moines to New Orleans for a day or two, then back to Chicago. I'd think he'll be activated for tomorrow's game against the Marlins.
  15. Scwarber 3-3, 2B. 2 stolen bases in 2 attempts against him tonight w a throwing error. Soler's 0-1 with 2 BB's so far
  16. Addison Russell is an elite defender at second base and a valuable player. He's also not a very good hitter yet, so putting him in the most important spot in the batting order probably won't lead to more runs.
  17. Montero's throwing mechanics are odd. He kinda cuts himself off and always bounces the throw to 2nd.
  18. SEE HOW MUCH WE MISS STARLIN WHEN HE'S GONE
  19. Eh, I think this has been managed fine. They just aren't throwing strikes.
  20. Just setting Starlin up for a walk-off 2-run single in the 9th.
  21. Not only can Olt not hit major league pitching, but I think Bryant may be better defensively.
