  1. Hopefully he has a short leash here. Didn't look especially good last inning.
  2. Jake's command was really bad that inning. Fortunately he still has ++++stuff.
  3. You know that scene from Rookie of the Year when Rowengartner's little league coach and teammates all start screaming when they saw that he signed with the Cubs because of how terrible of a player he was? That's how I imagine Duffy's college coaches and teammates react whenever he does something good in a Major League game.
  4. There's no way Maddon called for that bunt on 0-2. Not quite sure what Arrieta was doing there.
  5. lol, that line drive would've actually killed Duffy
  6. Soler's lack of defensive ability combined with the TBS camera work on that one had me quite worried for a split second.
  7. Cal Ripkin is doing color and the guy who does Brewers games is doing PBP.
  8. Holy cow, Pence was playing on Sheffield Ave.
  9. Really unfortunate that Coghlan wasn't awarded first base.
  10. Matt Duffy had 17 XBH's his entire college career.
  11. OPS still over 1.100. wRC+ over 200. Pretty absurd what he's doing.
  12. I could understand McKinney and Happ being ranked higher (Gleyber obviously too, as I think he's #1), but after that it's guys like Johnson, Zagunis, Almora, Edwards, Vogelbach, Jimenez, Cease and other dudes in Eugene and Arizona (and seriously, how excited can one really get about pitchers in short season ball?) I feel like a 23 yr old catcher having this type of season, OPSing over .900 in the Southern League, is good enough to move him ahead of pretty much all of these guys.
  13. Theo's gotta be having AL East flashbacks. This is some prime AL East type [expletive].
  14. So McKinney is pretty good and all, but it wouldn't be crazy to say that Contreras is our second best prospect, would it? If he's a good defensive catcher to go along with what he's been doing offensively this year and McKinney's a corner OF.....
  15. Was at the I-Cubs game tonight. Javy took a couple walks and made a sweet play ranging up the middle. Olt and Alcantara had some pretty awful AB's. Villanueva hit a dong.
  16. Law was lower on Schwarber than most, iirc. I want to say he had him ranked in the 70s or 80s before the season in his top 100?
  17. Hopefully this lineup can hit Cain enough so it won't matter, but I'd like to see a conventional infield alignment when Hendricks pitches. If Coghlan plays infield behind strikeout or fly ball pitchers like Lester, Arrieta, and Haren, fine. But Hendricks? This is asking for trouble.
  18. I'll be fairly surprised if Bryant doesn't win, assuming he rebounds and finishes with a ~.800 ops. I have no idea how many of the voters look at WAR but he still leads there. He's gotten so much publicity and is the biggest name of the group that I think it's his to lose.
  19. I would've never guessed before the season that the Nationals would not be one of the top 5 teams in the NL on August 7. Crazy.
  20. still feel this way? Yep. I'd even trust Rafael Soriano with a 4 run lead. Also, does that tweet mean Coghlan will be playing infield behind Hendricks? Ehhhhh.
  21. He's facing the best hitters on the team in the 9th inning after using him to put out a fire in the 8th. Pulling him is fine, but emphatically shutting the door when you still have Strop to close tomorrow is fine. Putting him in during the 8th inning was smart. Entering the 9th with a 4 run lead, however, I'd like to see anyone but him in. Over 20 pitches now. Just not a fan of this.
