Oh, I think the ump just thought Fowler stepped on Abreu and didn't touch the bag, even if he beat the throw. Makes it less bad if he thought that.

I actually thought it was the right move by Ventura. Quintana is a tough lefty and Schwarber hasn't looked comfortable against him. Horrible pitch selection. Great job by Schwarber to make him pay.

Not like this matters a lot, but it's still fun: say we win 90+ games this year and make the playoffs but don't win it all. We sign or trade for a pitcher of Zimmermann's or Ross' caliber, if not a Price type, in the offseason. Will we go into next season as a 2015 Nationals-like favorite to win it all?

Ah, the DH, gotta love it. Interleague play in AL parks just kind of teases me and makes it even more annoying when we go back to normal games without the DH. Get with the times already, NL.

i was looking at WSI for some misery porn and one guy was bitching about strop while bitching even more about the white sox trying to do fun things http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=3198528&postcount=52 lol at the one poster who goes on and on about Samardzija always being a #4-5 because he's never won 10 games and mentioned it was odd he might do it this year when he's actually struggled. You can see him ALMOST realize that it's not a good stat, but nope, can't quite get there.

It's been extremely wide for both sides, so I'm not whining that the Cubs are getting cheated, but how does an MLB umpire who theoretically gets feedback after every game, come in today and think these pitches way off the plate are strikes? Like he's no doubt called these pitches strikes before - has he not been told how terrible of a strike zone he has? Confusing. Also, lol, Schwarber is hurting middle infielders now with groundballs
