  1. That was a very Jaxon way of getting out of the inning.
  2. [expletive] it, I really like Clayton Richard. He could stand to strike a few more out, but he doesn't walk guys and is rockin' a 58% GB rate.
  3. He's a hitless AB away from ARCubsfan declaring that he's been awful lately.
  4. That guy in the Event Staff shirt should've stopped that fan.
  5. OK, now Matt Marksberry is definitely a made up name.
  6. I'm surprised more hasn't been made about Montero's throwing ability, or lack thereof. I know it's like the least important part of catching, but man, he's bounced like every throw but two it seems like.
  7. Yeah no kidding. That was the latest dropped foul tip I've ever seen. Was in his glove for quite a while.
  8. This offense is [expletive] awesome.
  9. He's not on it and I believe the 40 man is technically full, but there's always room. Plenty of DFA candidates if they want to call Johnson up.
  10. There are going to be a ton of dongs today. Probably by both teams.
  11. The assumption right now is probably that we'll keep Montero and that Schwarber will spend most of the time in LF in 2016, right? While I'd like to trade Soler for a young pitcher and sign Heyward for RF, my guess is that the offseason will be re-signing Fowler, signing Zimmermann, and then probably getting a reliever or two and dumping Castro for whatever they can get. Then we'd go into next season with Schwarber, Fowler, Bryant, Russell, Rizzo, and Montero firmly holding down their spots, with a 2Bman and RFer hopefully emerging from a group of Baez/La Stella/Coghlan/Soler.
  12. That's correct. I didn't know this. So teams could go into the WC game with, like, a 9-man bench?
  13. The Braves are 53-69, 17 games behind the Cubs in the standings, and both are in 3rd place in their own division. Jeez.
  14. Yeah, I remember reading about his impressive workout at Wrigley. Someone refresh my memory, but I feel like after we drafted Almora at #9 there were comments from the FO that Albert was really #1 on their board. Yeah, that might have just been something they made up after the fact, but they were pretty honest about Aiken being ahead of Schwarber on their board last year, for example. It would be believable with Appel's asking price, Buxton's crummy HS competition, and Correa wasn't thought of as elite. So maybe it's better this way that we didn't have the opportunity to pass on him.. Oh yeah, Kyle Schwarber. He's good.
  15. He was gung-ho on the entire idea of a rebuild and how Pujols was going to be old and broken down, and pretty much all of us yelled at him and told him how stupid that was, the Cubs obviously weren't going to do a rebuild. Not that it means he wasn't being stupid, it's just funny in retrospect. Kyle, as we sit here on August 20 with the fourth best record in baseball with a bunch of players, most very young, performing very well and who were acquired as a direct result of the tem being bad, you're still going to call the rebuild stupid? It was risky, as we got huge gifts from the Astros, Orioles, and Athletics and it certainly sucked to watch, but this is pretty sweet right now. You haven't been harping on it lately, but you have to have softened your stance a little, right? Won't for sure speak for him, but I don't think he has. I'm pretty sure he will talk about how long Theo hasn't made the playoffs and that some of these young guys might start to decline next season. And that's OK. I don't at all agree, but respect the take even though he's wrong. Rather, even if. Yeah I don't agree with him either but I definitely respect and appreciate that he has a differing opinion and isn't afraid to break through the groupthink. As we continue to talk about Kyle like he isn't here...yeah, I think he's a good poster and I like to see what he has to say, that's why I was curious.

I read you calling that dave guy stupid after mentioning the rebuild as a comment on the rebuild. But either way, has your opinion changed at all?

  18. Wood's K/9 always surprises me whenever he comes in and they show his stats.
  19. Beane also could've done a lot better for Samardzija and Donaldson in the offseason, though Barreto looks like he could be really good.
  20. If I were a professional baseball pitcher and decided to get a tattoo sleeve on just one arm, I think I'd go non-pitching arm.
  21. Great adjustment by Bryant after that 1-1 swing.
  22. hahahahaha. Looks like I missed out on a good time.
  23. Schwarber's take on that nasty 2-2 curve and subsequent walk, before the Bryant dong, was pretty sweet. And darn, that was the Soler of a few months ago there. Didn't swing at a fastball right down the middle that he can drive and flails at something soft out of the zone.
