Oh please. We'd be leading 4 other divisions. Arbitrarily clumping teams together will cost one of these NL Central teams dearly. It's plenty fair to complain.
I'd probably put us in the 12-18 range right now off the top of my head. I still think there's a good chance we are top 10 (no higher than like 7-8). But could see anywhere in the low teens. Torres Happ McKinney CJ Zagunis Eloy Underwood Cease Almora etc. That's not a bad crop of guys still Let us not forget about our second best prospect, now.
The Cardinals also get a September full of the Reds and Brewers. We've seen extreme luck (Cardinals' offense of 2013, Orioles' ridiculous one-run game record a few years ago as well) carry on for a full season, so I'm not necessarily expecting the LOB% to come crashing down to earth all of a sudden in September. I'm fine with padding the lead even more on the Giants here and maybe being able to limit Arrieta's innings the final month to prepare him for a Madbum type run.
Schilling was just on TV and said the Giants are going for the division because of how tough that WC game can be. Riiiiight, that's why they're aiming for the division. But I could see them overtaking the Dodgers. San Francisco's September schedule isn't that tough.
Why not? Olt is a power bat that can rake against lefties. Nobody is asking for him to start but off the bench he can be useful in the right spots. wait, wait , wait. You don't think Starlin has as good of a shot to get a hit off a lefty as Coghlan, yet you think Mike Olt rakes against lefties? Mike Olt sucks. I'm so confused as to why so many Cubs fans still believe in him. With La Stella and Baez coming up in Sep, I don't think we'll even see Olt. Villanueva is probably even ahead of him on the depth chart.
Schwarber's awesome, but I don't think he'll finish ahead of Kang, Duffy, or Syndergaard, let alone Bryant. Guys don't come up in late July fulltime to win ROY in a loaded rookie class. Unless Bryant goes in a huge slump, it's his.
Schwarber is something else. The high sock look isn't very slimming for him though. Reminds me of when Prince Fielder would try it. Man, that's some brutally bad luck for Coghlan there.
There will be nets that extend beyond the dugout or even to the foul pole by no later than 2017, imo. Hopefully next year. Guys hit the ball waaay too hard.
I like to watch SportsTalkLive segments on csnchicago.com when things are going well to hear what those losers have to say after they mostly thought the Cubs wouldn't be that good before the season...anyway, apparently after Hammel's most recent start, they debated if it would be his last of the season. wtf? Even some of the people on this board haven't reacted that way to his recent struggles.
